I went to Timbre @ The Arts House with 3 other close friends on National Day. Located conveniently near Raffles Place MRT and along the scenic Singapore River, this restaurant sets a relaxing, chill-out backdrop for a dinner night-out. We ordered Breaded Calamari, Thin Crust Pizza (Half-Half, of Buffalo Chicken & Timbre Seafood flavours), a platter (I forgot which one, it has sausages in it) and Banana Crumble. The GoodI absolutely loved the food there! It is very tantalizing and all the flavour
The Good
I absolutely loved the food there! It is very tantalizing and all the flavours just hit the right spot. You must try the Thin-Crust Pizza which is my favourite dish out of all the dishes we ordered. There was also a live band which allows song dedications, creating a very romantic and relaxed atmosphere. There was also a TV showing all the dedications. Timbre @ The Arts House is also one of the more prominent restaurants along the river.
The Bad
The desserts section was a disappointment - there were only two options: Banana Crumble and Churros. The Banana Crumble was also not very satisfying, just a normal dessert. The portions of the food were also quite little for the price. Not suitable if you're under a tight budget. Expect to pay S$20 (or more)/pax for a full meal.
I was quite turned off by the service by the staff, because they were spying on us to see if we were about to eat finish. Upon finishing our last bite, one of them came to ask if we were ordering any more, if not we had to pay the bill and leave. I suppose it was because they were having a full house that night (National Day) and there were guests waiting for tables. However, this standard of service is not acceptable even though we may not be spending a lot there. In fact, when the food arrived, no cutlery or plates were served to us. We had to ask for the cutlery and plates ourselves. Ugh! This was really disappointing.
Overall
Thank goodness for good company, our night was not ruined by the bad service. Loved the food & ambience there but the service could have been way better.
