Thanks to a birthday 1-for-1 voucher, we finally decided to try out the Swensen's ice cream cum dessert buffet available at its Ion branch. We first tried the cakes at the buffet counter. Sadly they were disappointing. Mostly too dry, except the New York Cheesecake which is an ice cream cake & it's pretty nice. But still can be improved because it felt too frozen! hahaWe decided to hit the wide selection of ice cream flavours available and try out its toppings to create our personalised sundaes.
We first tried the cakes at the buffet counter. Sadly they were disappointing. Mostly too dry, except the New York Cheesecake which is an ice cream cake & it's pretty nice. But still can be improved because it felt too frozen! haha We decided to hit the wide selection of ice cream flavours available and try out its toppings to create our personalised sundaes. Our first creation consisted of 3 scoops of ice cream (but I only remember about the lychee flavour & 1 sorbet which was nice ) and toppings like peach, Mars bar, Kit Kat, Smarties, Nata De Coco etc.
The next creation we made consisted of Chendol, Lime Sorbet and Mint ice cream, topped with Smarties, nuts and Wafer. The Chendol ice cream had too strong a coconut flavour added and we didn't like it. The mint also tasted funny, and the lime sorbet was so sour that it woke us up immediately haha. So sad so many ice cream flavour selection were wrong. We also tried the Passion Fruit flavour which was not very nice too. The warm waffle was very crispy. Though a bit weird to put on the waffle, but it was a delight to have found the Sarsi ice cream in the buffet since Sarsi had been my childhood favourite hee. The Wild Wild Berries ice cream was very smooth & yummy too.
The original buffet price is $18.90++ if you do not order any other food, but costs $12.90++ wif any food order. We both think that Swensen's desserts can be missed (except the waffles), but the numerous ice cream flavours & toppings available are wonderful!
