This s a memorable dinning experience for me because my partner and myself kept wanting to try this bak chor mee for a while and we finally got to do it today.It has gotten me to wonder quite a bit on the connection between this Tai Wah Pork Noodle with the Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle at Crawford Lane. I remember the notice put up by them saying, 'We are the one and only original Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle. We do not have any other outlet.' So. this should not be another outlet of Hill

So. this should not be another outlet of Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle. They seemed to be related to the Tai Wah Pork Noodle at the Best Way Building over at 21 Prince Edward Road. They have displayed a Makansutra Certificate 2011 stating 3 pairs of chopsticks awarded to that particular Tai Wah Pork Noodle.
The particular is manned by a young man with an assistant. I was there at about 6pm on a weekday, there was only two customers right in front of me. I waited for 15 minutes to order and another 5 minutes to get it. Such waiting time seemed a little unexpected.
I was given a choice of $4.00, $5.00 and $6.00. I went for the $5.00 portion. The serving of noodle was just right. The ingredients included dried flat fish, 3 meatballs, minced meat, liver, lean meat and 2 dumplings.
I had my first mouthful and i compared it to my favourite bak chor mee at Ang Mo Kio and i still very much prefer my regular choice.
The first impression of Tai Wah Pork Noodle was that overwhelming taste of vinegar. Some people might like it but not for me. I asked for extra chilli to be added but the taste of the chilli is not as distinctive as expected. The texture of noodle was quite good though. The noodle came with a bowl of flavourful hot soup and that is the plus point.
All in all, it was a pleasant bowl of bak chor mee.
