I was lured back to Straits Cafe by the Women's weekly 1-1 promotion and their famous Durian Fudge cake. I was lured back to Straits Cafe by the Women's weekly 1-1 promotion and their famous Durian Fudge cake. Many hotels boast Durian desserts as their signature dishes but Straits Cafe is one of the few that never fails to disappoint. Layers of ordinary yellow sponge cake is filled with chunks of creamy, savoury durian meat. The aroma of the durian is so strong that it completely overtakes the whole cake and makes it an sensation altogether!

Besides the durian fudge cake, I must say the array and the quality of the remaining buffet dishes are just slightly above average as compared to Shang Ri La's "the Line". But for its affordable pricing, food quality, friendly service and cosy family atmosphere, it proves to be a hidden gem among the hotel buffets!
