Today our colleague bought bak kwa from bee cheng hiang for us to eat! How nice of him...Well i must say this is a must eat during Chinese Near Year! definitely one of my favourite new year goodies.However in my opinion , i think this bak kwa from bee cheng hiang is a bit too salty for me. As compared to "lam chee yuan", i would still prefer the latter. Well one think for sure is there won't be a very long queue at bee cheng hiang! After eating the bak kwa in the office, i'm a bit full, so thought of going for a light lunch with colleagues.Not sure whether it's because the bak kwa i had was too tasty, it makes my bowl of pork slice beehoon with prawn soup very tasteless...Soup is clear but there's nothing much to brag about the soup base.They also selling wanton noodle, prawn noodle, "tong xin" noodle, etc....i hope all the other types of noodle would taste ok. After having my dinner at Carl's Junior, me and hubby decided to go for the italian ice cream! We had the hazelnut gelato and mango sherbet gelato. My personal preference would be the mango sherbet. The texture of the ice-cream is not as smooth as i thought it would be. So i'm a bit disappointed actually. Everytime i go to this food centre, there's always a long queue for this chicken rice stall be it lunch or dinner. Today i went early before 12noon, so the queue is quite short and i've decided to give it a try.Well now i know why people always queueing for it! The "bai zhan" chicken is really very smooth and taste good. Comparing to other chicken rice, this is so far the best i've tried! They soup that they provide is a bit sour, but it kinda opens up the appetite. With just occupying half a stall space, this western food from Chef's Work is really a gourmet to me and selling at such reasonable price, it's really a rare find i say. At the front of the stall, i can see that they have got a few awards too!They only open from 5pm onwards and for dinner to supper only. I've ordered their Texas Grilled chicken chop. It's surprisingly good taste. Everything served on the plate was good! Crinkle cut fries was crispy and fresh, garlic bread was fragrant and toasted to perfection, salad was fresh and generous serving. Had a try out at this stall for lunch with colleagues today. Found that surprisingly, their Wanton mee is quite springy and with black sauce. Quite close to the malaysia version style of wanton noodle whereby our black sauce is salty instead of sweet! My friends gave me a treat to celebrate my birthday at this Thai restaurant. Taste of the food is superb at this kind of very reasonable price. I specifically like the fried butter calamari. It was so fragrant and crunchy when served! Combined with the sourness from the mango salad at the side, it makes me feel refreshing although it's fried with butter!Next best is the green curry fish. Last time when i tried, the fish was bigger and they gave a lot of lychee, apple cubes, etc...however this time it's a bit less. Since my relatives brought me here to try before, i've fallen in love with their yong tou foo! Although i don't live in east coast, but i'm still willing to just take a cab here to have my lunch here as often as possible!i love their varities of yong tou foo as they will fry it to so crispy again before serving. Celebrated Winter Solstice at Zhou's kitchen yesterday with hubby. This should be cheaper than the usual Tunglok Signatures and Classic....The crisp fried silver bait with salted pepper is quite nice being not too oily and very crispy. Also it's not as saltish as other restaurant.Next we ordered the wok fried french beans with minced pork. A bit spicy and oily for this dish though...Not as good as i expected.Because hubby got diarrhea before this, so decided to go for soupy dish. Craving for ippudo ramen again! Went there for lunch and as usual, have to queue for at least 45minutes - 1 hour...Had never ordered their side dishes before except the salad. So today ordered their Ippudo Pork Bun where there's a star beside it...i suppose it should be one of the chef recommendations. Another Malaysian friend of mine just came to work in Singapore, so me and hubby brought her to try out this restaurant.As per usual we ordered their XO fish noodle, Hong Kong Kai Lan, Prawn paste fried chicken. However today since there are more people, so we ordered the prawn spring rolls too which we don't normally do.Their XO fish noodle, Hong Kong Kai Lan and prawn paste fried chicken were still up to standard and delicious. This time i brought my parents to try out this zi char place after bringing so many friends and relatives here we ordered their assam fish. Fish was fresh and cooked just nice combined with the assam cooking, it's just too good to resist that my dad and hubby ended up ordering extra bowl of rice! Marmite chicken was good too as the " wok hei" was really good enough to make it so fragrant when served. once again i'm very satisfied with this zi char place.
