Old Chang Kee
Old Chang Kee

A light snack at Old Change Kee at 313@Somerset. The Yam cake they are selling cost S$1.00. It is piping hot as they are freshly fried. The Yam cake is soft. It is very oily. There isn't any bits of yam in it so there is no yam taste. Just tasted like any carrot cake instead.…Read More

Yoshinoya
Yoshinoya
2013-12-26
I Walked to Marina Square's Yoshinoya for my lunch. I have ordered their Beef vegetable Rice Bowl set meal which cost S$7.90.It consisted a bowl of free miso soup. It is quite watery with only a little miso taste. It has bits of seaweed, small dry toupok. There is also a free drink to go with the meal. The beef with vegetable bowl looks good. They have plentiful of vegetable (Cauliflower, broccoli, french bean and carrot. The vegetable is bland and has no taste. The beef slices were just the right cut, not too oily nor dry. A nice teriyaki sauce flavour of the beef which goes well with the rice. The prawn balls are breaded with big bits of bread. They are very crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside. The prawn balls goes well with the mayonnaise.Lastly is the Tori Kinkai which is only available on Wednesday. This is actually our version of chicken nugget. The outside is crispy and the inside is soft and juicy. The katsu sauce that comes with it is very salty and it actually spoil the taste of the Tori Kinkai if you eat with it. …Read More

Mini One at Takashimaya Food Hall serves mini pastry which prices are based on weight. They have a few varieties available like Mochi, Cheese cake, Sausage roll, Croissant.. and my favorite is of course the Mochi.I bought a mixture of Strawberry Whitechoco Mochi and Caramel Nuts Mochi. The Strawberry ones are only avaliable after 4pm and are their best seller. Every 100g cost S$3.00 which estimated to be around 6 - 8 pieces. The Strawberry Whitechoco Mochi has a nice strawberry flavour. It is crispy on the outside and chewy in the center. There were also white chocolate chips in it and gives it a slight crunchy effect when bite. The Caramel Nuts Mochi tasted like popcorn due to the caramel in it. It is also crispy on the outside and chewy in the center. There are bits of nuts and caramel sweet in it. Crispy and Crunchy in every bite.A very addicting food and seems unable to stop eating them!…Read More

Yong Ji Penang Char Kway Teow 勇记炒粿条
Malaysia Boleh!
2013-12-26
Yong Ji Penang Char Kway Teow 勇记炒粿条 is situated inside Malaysia Boleh in Jurong Point. There is always a very long queue at this stall. Estimated queuing time is at least minimum 30 mins.So I have decided to test my patience on this stall to see how great is the food to create such a long wait.It is so-called lucky for me, I have waited "only" 35mins for my Penang Char Kway Teow as many impatience customers in front of me walked off during the queue. I have also found that the queue was long was not due to many people queuing but the waiting time for the food to be cooked took very long thus creating the queue. The are 2 pricing, S$4.00 for a small plate and S$6.00 for a big one.I have at last received My S$4.00 Penang Chay Kway Teow after a 35 mins wait. There were many bean sprouts and Chinese leeks in it. The big prawns are very crunchy. The overall taste is disappointing. It tasted very bland and most important there is no "wok hei". The Fried Char Kway Teow is also very oily. Wasted all my effort in queuing! …Read More

Seng Huat Homemade Fried Carrot Cake
2013-12-26
Seng Huat Homemade Fried Carrot Cake located at the Yuhua Village Market & Food Centre. There is no queue around 10am in the morning. They are selling both White and Black Fried Carrot Cake. Price range between S$2.00 - S$3.00. I have ordered the Black one with egg.The plate came with the Fried carrot cake served on it in a mess. When you take a mouthful of the carrot cake, you cake bite the soft carrot cake, crunchy chai po and garlic. The fried carrot cake got a hint of "wok hei". Not too sweet and there is a lot of eggs in it. …Read More

llaollao Yoghurt

llaollao, a brightly lighted shop which you can't missed when walk along Marina Link. Their Big cup cost S$6.50 comes with 3 toppings. Big selection of wet toppings like fruits, dry toppings like cereal, biscuits, chocolates and lastly many syrup like chocolate fudge, strawberry etc. to choose from. They only have one flavour of yogurt to choose from which is natural. It is made of skim milk and therefore more healthy (less fats). Their yogurt has a strong milky taste and not too sour or sweet. It is also very creamy. The topping are all very fresh for fruits and crunchy for dry toppings. …Read More

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

"La copi" (drinking coffee) at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at Jurong Point.Since Christmas is coming, I have decided to have the mood by ordering their Ice Blended Black Forest Mocha with no whip cream. The comes with a cute red cherry on top and sprinklers bits of red and green added to the brown colour of mocha. A sip and you can taste a stong flavour of rum in it but luckily you won't get drunk on it. Not too sweet like other ice blended coffee. Just right for this Christmas Season. …Read More

Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks Kiosk at Jurong Point. The shop was surprisingly not crowded during lunch time. So I decided to give the new rice bento a try.The bento was neatly packed in a box. It consist of their famous XXL Crispy Chicken, white tofu with preserved egg sauce on the rice. The Crispy Chicken is very crispy on the outside with the delicious spice seasoning. Four Seasons Durians
Four Seasons Durians
2013-12-21
Went to the newly opened Bedok Mall and spotted Four Seasons Durians Food kiosk at Basement 2.Their beautifully and attractively furnishing attracted me to the stall. Their durain logo is so cute that i really hope they can start selling soft toys of them.I've bought their mini durian puffs which they packed into a box with the cute logo. The puff is soft with a slight crisp when bite. The filling was heavenly! Like i was eating a real durian! It is so creamy and you can even taste the bits of durian in the filling. You can eat the puff in room temperature or you can store in the freezer and eat them like ice cream puff. The Mao San Wang ice cream comes either in soft served or frozen. The ice cream was very creamy and the Mao San Wang durian taste was very strong. So you can eat durian without the any hassle. So natural and irresistible! …Read More

Lunch in Qi Ji at Suntec City. Try to avoid the lunch queue at 12.30nn - 2.00pm.This cup of ice milo is always a must in Qi Ji. The taste of thick milo sliding down your throat, Best! The laska has a great coconut milk and dried prawns taste. The consistency of the broth was just right. The noodle was cooked perfectly. Plentifully of fish cakes and bean sprouts. The tou pok was frangrant. The only minus point was their cockles as they were way too small. The nasi lemak portion was quite reasonable. The rice was quite fragrant and not too oily. The chicken wing was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The fried fish fillet have a nice fish flavour. The chilli was not too spicy and has a sweet taste to it. …Read More

Early breakfast at Tanglin Halt Ru Yi Yuan Vegetarian. You have to get there before they close at 11.30am.Normally I ordered an extra portion of Vegetarian duck. It is made of layers of bean curd skin and deep fried. It is crispy on the outside but soft, smooth and tender on the side. One bite and you can taste the fragrance flavour of bean curd skin. I always went with the big portion order of their vegetarian mee hoon which cost S$3.00 where their normal ones cost S$2.50. The noodles were covered with plentifully "meat" and french beans. Do take note of their vegetarian chicken it is so smooth that it actually melt in your mouth! The sauce and the noodle were also irresistible. Once you put into the mouth, you can never miss the taste of "wok hei".…Read More

Tanglin Halt at Clementi has quite variety of selection. From Chicken, fish, steak, lamp, etc.. with different ways of cooking and different sauces. The price is very reasonable. They are quite famous for their chicken chop. For S$4.50, you can get a large portion of chicken, fries, beans and coleslaw. The chicken was not too fatty with the fatty parts removed for healthier purpose. A bit more sauce will perfect the dish. The fish was also big for the price of S$4.50. Crispy and not oily. The coating batter was just right. Not too thick.…Read More

Boon Kee Wanton Noodle is again having a long queue. Sunday is supposed to be an off day for them but today they are opened for OpenRice special event. Lucky those who came and able to eat their noodles.First dish to come is their Shrimp Dumpling Soup. The filling was very packed with shrimp and my favourite water chestnut. The broth is good with full Ikan Billis flavour.Every mouth full I took was filled with shrimp and crunchy water chestnut! Next on the table is the Chicken Ipoh Hor Fun. Missing ingredient spotted is the mushroom. Would prefer more sauce on the dish. Last but not least, their famous Wanton mee. The mee is springy and cooked just right. The chashu though is dry with not much chashu taste. The Fried Wanton has little filling. Overall taste was average not worth the queue.…Read More

Baker Talent at Clement. There is always a short queue regardless of day or time. The bread were all reasonably charged from S$0.60 - S$0.95. With those cheap price doesn't spelt less filling. I especially adored the Golden Sands bun which cost S$0.90. One bite and you can see the "golden sand" oozing out of the bun. Beware, eating this bun can be quite messy. This bun can be quite additive. Keeping them in the fridge for a few days does not lessen their attraction.Get me a bun now …Read More
