Vegetarian Dishes!
Su Shi Piao Xiang (Vegetarian) - Kopitiam
2014-03-04
This stall serves great Vegetarian 'Zi Char', with lots of choices. My favourites are actually the salad prawn, five spice roll and Tom Yam Fried Rice. Their Salad Prawn is not served like other vegetarian zi char stall, their prawns are in small bites and the salad sauce is served seperately. For $10, there are about 15 piece of bite-sized Prawns and generous amount of salad sauce. The Prawns are crispy on the outer and soft in the inner. The salad sauce goes very well with the prawns. The Five Spice Roll is one of the best dishes. Each roll is $4 and it will be cut into 8-10 pieces. In each five spice roll, there are ingredients like carrot, chestnut and vegetarian meat. Each bite is full of meat and chestnut flavour, outer layer is also very crispy. Normally one Five Spice Roll is not enough. Tom Yam Fried Rice are priced at $3.50, $4.50 and $6. For $4.50, its a rectangle box filled with tom yam rice, peas,, ham and some vegetarian floss. The Tom Yam Paste is not too spicy but is flavourful enough. Peas and hams goes well with the rice as well. The vegetarian floss gives the tom yam fried rice a special flavour, spicy and sour. All in all, spending $18.50 for two is considered cheap for such good food. Definitely worth a try if you're in that vicinity. …Read More

Pineapple Fried Rice
Kimly Seafood - Soon Hong Food House
2014-03-04
This seafood stall always have long queues during evening time, especially during weekend. Its famous for its Chilli Crab and its Egg Yolk Prawn. The food was just above average till they changed their main chef sometime back. This time instead of its dishes, bought its Pineapple Fried Rice instead. There were char siew bites, pineapple dices, prawns and chickens. For $5, the portion is really big, suitable for two, but the taste of the pineapple fried rice can just be described as one word - Bland. The pineapple dices somehow has no effect on the rice, the rice is just normal yellow rice and has no pineapple smell or taste. The prawns and chickens are still okay, still edible. The sambal chilli was good, was spicy enough and goes well with fried rice and noodles. All in all, I will recommend its Salted Fish Fried Rice and other dishes, just don't try its Pineapple Fried Rice. …Read More

Chicken Nuggets
Burger King
2014-03-04
Bought the deal on Groupon earlier, only paid $4.95 for an 20 Pcs Burger King Nuggets, instead of the usual price of $8.95. Unlike McDonalds, Burger King does not limit the number of BBQ Sauce you can take. But in terms of the quality, I find that McDonald's BBQ Sauce is somewhat better than Burger King's. As for the nuggets, it is quite hard, the chicken taste is also very bland. All in all, I find that $8.95 for 20 pcs nuggets is very overpriced as the quality of the food is not really worth the price. …Read More

Subway!
Subway
2014-03-04
Was at Tampines 1 and decided to buy a 6 inch Italian Ham sandwich for dinner. As usual, there were 4 slices of ham and with a selection of vegetables, including lettuce, onions, tomatoes etc. Of course, there are sauces to go with as well. Some sauces includes, BBQ, Sweet Onion, Ranch etc. As usual, I did not include any vegetable in the sandwich and added BBQ & Mayonnise sauce into my sandwich. In my own opinion, Ham goes well with BBQ and mayonnise sauce. The Ham is cut till thin, thus it is quite soft. The BBQ sauce is really full flavoured. The bread is slightly toasted with cheese, thus the outer of the bread is crispy and warm. Added another $1.00 for an cookie. There were an array of selection to choose from, including its famous Chocolate Chip Cookie, Double Chocolate Chip cookie and Raspberry Cookie. I will normally choose either the Raspberry Cookie or the Chocolate Chip cookie. The chocolate chip cookie is just the same as the ones served in Famous Amos, only can be described in one word - FABULOUS. All in all, each meal consist of 6 inch sandwich, cookie and a 16oz drink cost $6 which is very reasonable and value-for-money. …Read More

Beer Battered Fish
CHIPPY British Take Away
2014-03-02
This is my number one choice whenever I'm craving for some fried fish and fries. For $4.80, you will be able to get a Snack Bag of fries and Beer Battered Fish and for $5.90, you will be able to get a Meal Bag of fries and Beer Battered Fish. Obviously, for a meal bag, there'll be more fish and fries. You can also add another $1.00 for a can of soft drink. They do serve other alternatives such as Fried Mars Ball, Jumbo Hotdog with Mashed Potato and etc. Bought the meal bag Beer Battered Fish once again, the fries were cutted into thick pieces, unlike the ones where we usually find at western food stalls. The fish is nicely battered and fried till golden crispy. Also, for each snack or meal bag, we will get to choose a dip to go with it and my favourite amongst the selection of dips is the Tangy Ketchup dip. The tangy ketchup is really tangy and it blends well with the fish. Of course, they have other dips like the chilli dip, tartar sauce, malt vinegar and cheese dips. Worth a try if you have not tried before! But please be prepared to wait for 10-15 minutes for the aunty to prepare the food! …Read More

Pancakes & Tarts!
PrimaDeli
2014-03-02
This PrimaDeli has been here for quite some time and whenever I'm craving for pancakes, I'll definitely come over as its the nearest stall that sells pancakes! This time, bought an Chocolate Pancake ($1.80) and 2 Egg Tarts ($2.60).The Chocolate Pancake is slightly above average, they had been very generous on the amount of chocolate filling, while the pancake is very fluffy, for those who loves to eat crispy waffles/pancakes, this might not suits you. As for the egg tart, the skin of the egg tart is very soft, while the egg filling is very nice, suitable for kids. …Read More

Honey Mint Pudding Tea
Woobbee Bubble Tea
2014-03-02
Was at the NTUC on one of the Fridays and decided to get a cup of Honey Mint Pudding Tea from Woobbee. In my opinion, the best drink on the menu is actually the Honey Mint Pudding. There's a large serving of pudding included in a cup of honey mint milk tea. The pudding is very 'Q', honey mint is very fragrance, mint taste is also just nice, not too strong. The Milk tea taste can still be felt. Honey mint + Pudding + Milk Tea makes up a good combination. For a small cup (500cc), it costs $3.50 and for a large cup (700cc), it costs $4.90, which is about the same price as KOI and I find it reasonable for such a cup of good quality milk tea. If you're at the Kang Kar Mall Outlet on a Friday, you'll be able to enjoy 20% off if you select any of the Large size drinks on the menu. As such I only paid $3.90 for a $4.90 cup of drink. Their staff are also very friendly and courteous. The minus point is that there's no seats, thus you definitely have to takeaway the drink. …Read More

Fish & Chips!
5 Star Corner Western Food
2014-03-02
Was very much attracted by its tartar sauce the previous time I patronized this stall and thus, I'm back for its Fish & Chips. For a plate of $6 Fish & Chips, there's two piece of fish, garlic bread, baked beans, coleslaw, french fries and of course, its famous fruits tartar sauce. The fish is fried till golden crispy, outer batter is very crispy while the fish inside is very soft, suitable for all ages. The garlic bread was toasted lightly and the garlic smell and taste is very fragrance, really good. As for the baked beans and coleslaw, quite normal. The french fries is very crispy as well, much better as compared to other western food stalls. Its fruit tartar sauce is actually the killer. When accompanied with the fish or french fries, it gives a unique sour yet sweet taste. It goes well with the garlic bread as well. Other than Fish & Chips, they do serve dishes like Chicken Chop, Chicken Cutlet and even Siziling hot-plates as well. The price ranges from $5.00 to $10.00, which is very reasonable for the portion and quality of the food. Worth a try when you're in the vicinity. …Read More

Nacho Cheese Filiet
McDonald's
2014-03-02
Sometime back just after the CNY holidays, Mcdonalds actually introduced a new series of burgers, including Nacho Cheese Filiet-O-Fish, McChicken with Cheese, each of the set meals are priced at $5.00. I believe almost everyone should be familiar, a set meal comes with a drink and a corn cup or a pack of salted fries. As of now (02 March), the Nacho Cheese burger is already not on the menu, but there's a Tangy Filiet-O-Fish on the menu, also priced at $5/set. As for the Nacho Cheese Burger, there are two main differences. Firstly, of course the sauce, instead of the normal Tartar sauce, it is replaced by the Nacho Cheese Sauce. The Nacho Cheese Sauce in my honest opinion is very bland, and the taste of the nacho cheese is does not really goes well with the filiet burger. Secondly, there is lettuce included in the Nacho Cheese Filiet-O-Fish. Again, just like what I've mentioned earlier on, the nacho cheese does not go well with the burger, including the lettuce, thus the Nacho Cheese Filiet-O-Fish Burger in my honest opinion is such a letdown to Filiet-O-Fish lovers. …Read More

Great Food!
Char-Grill Bar
2014-03-02
This Char Grill Bar is one of my favorite place to patronize as its really very near to my school! That coffeeshop is rather empty, with only a few stalls opened in the afternoon and the food served at the other stalls are just simply normal. This Char-Grill Bar serves a different variety of food, ranging from burgers to pastas to chickens to fish at very affordable price. You can also choose two side dish for every main course purchased and the side dishes have been categorized into cold and hot side dishes. Cold side dishes includes garden salad and potato salad. As for the hot side dishes, there's California Raisin Rice, Cheesey Pasta, Onion Rings, Fries and Mashed Potato. We ordered the Ham and Sausage Pasta ($5) as well as BBQ Chicken Chop ($6). For the pasta, the tomato sauce used is kind of unique, sweet and also a little bit spicy. They are also very generous on the amount of ham given. Noodles were of great quality and dish was served quite fast. As for the BBQ Chicken Chop, the sauce is very 'SHIOK' and the amount of french fries given was also very generous. The Onion Rings are very addictive and it really tastes like real onion. As for the chicken chop, its grilled till prefect, accompanied by hot piping delicious BBQ Sauce. One of the best western in Tampines! …Read More

Krispy Kreme Donuts!
Krispy Kreme
2014-03-02
No more long and lengthy queues at Krispy Kreme! On one of the Fridays afternoon, was in Orchard area to run an errand and thus decided to get to Tangs Plaza Basement to get some of Krispy Kreme's Signature Original Glazed Donuts. Although its a bit overpriced, $2.60/pcs and $23.40/dozen for Original Glazed, but good food worth the money! Tried its flavoured donuts sometime back and afterall, paying $3.10 extra to get flavoured donuts ($26.50/dozen) is not worth it. The flavours are just simply too sweet. Original Glazed is coated with a layer of sugar icing and the donut is being oven baked till crisp. The sugar icing is very addictive and it makes the Original Glazed tasted so good. …Read More

Jollibee!
Jollibee
2014-03-02
Was in the Orchard area to run some errands and decided to get some Krispy Kreme Donuts as well as this Jollibee. At 1630hrs, although its long after lunch hours and still away from dinner time, the queue is still pretty long, but fortunately, there were about 7 to 8 counters serving and they are quite efficient. Ordered an large fries, a 2-pcs meal and a 1-pcs meal. The price is rather cheap, as compared to Popeyes or KFC. For a 1-pcs meal with rice, it only costs $3.80. As for the large fries, it only costs $2.75 for a whopping large packet of fries. Of course, they do serve other dishes like Hot Dog Bun and Spaghetti, as well as Ice Cream cones. The chicken was pretty normal, nothing to wow about. The sauce is simply normal mushroom sauce, just that the gravy is more concentrated and its good to go with the rice. The rice is pack in a way that it looks like a rice ball and it can be kept warm. All in all, my conclusion is that Jollibee is very normal, not worth queuing for 15-20 minutes. …Read More

Pineapple Cookies
Thye Moh Chan
2014-03-02
Thye Moh Chan is a very old brand, it is also under the Breadtalk Group. Thye Moh Chan only has one flagship outlet, at New Bridge Road and it specialises in making pastries like Sweet & Salty Tau Sar Piah and also, cookies and tarts like Pineapple Tarts. The Tau Sar Piah comes in two different sizes, the mini ones ($0.90ea) and the big ones. The Big one costs $22.80 each and it can be served for 8-10 person. Both the big and mini ones have the same filling. As for the current Pineapple Tarts, it comes in different flavours like Longan Pineapple Tart and Prunes Pineapple Tart. For a box of 8 individually packed tarts, it costs $22.80. The pineapple tarts were rather normal and its very dry, but the ingredients inside is very generous and pineapple taste can definitely be felt. …Read More

McDonalds Breakfast
McDonald's
2014-03-02
Just like an usual lazy Sunday, decided to takeaway some McDonalds for the family as breakfast. Bought the Filiet-O-Fish, HotCakes and the Big Breakfast set, of course with Hashbrowns and Coffee. Total Bill came up to be around $18. Filiet-O-Fish, I believe no introduction is required, the tangy fish filiet is accompanied by tartar sauce and cheese, the bread is also lightly toasted, suitable for everyone, also its my favourite! HotCakes, three piece of round pancakes, lightly toasted, accompanied by grape jam, hotcake syrup and margarine. The best way for me is to put some HotCake Syrup and Margarine. Pancake can also be eaten on its own. Big Breakfast Set includes scrambled eggs, a muffin and a sausage. Scrambled egg is best accompanied with the pepper sachets, it makes a perfect combination! Some people will love to spread the grape jam on the muffin, but for me, I would love to include the sausage into the muffin and eat it like a sausage mcmuffin. Hashbrown is also everyone's favourite (I believe so..). McDonalds hashbrown is always crispy, best accompanied with McDonalds Ketchup. …Read More

Pizza Hut!
Pizza Hut
2014-03-02
Was there to takeaway a Double Box Pizza. Was really impressed by the idea of the double box, which is a double decker paper box, which can keeps two pizza at one box. As per usual, $21.90 for two pizza, decided to get the Ham & Shrooms as well as the BBQ Chicken Pizza. For the Ham and Shrooms, the mushroom is great, its also cutted till small bites and the ham is very fresh as well. As for the pizza, the crust can be crispier. As for the BBQ Chicken Pizza, the chicken cubes were nicely marinated, but the BBQ Sauce added should be more, there's too little amount of BBQ Sauce. …Read More
