In Japanese, Fuku means Happiness while ya refers to House, and when directly translated Fukuya simply means Happiness House. This happiness house silently reside in Jurong Country Club. I would never had expected good food to be inside a Country Club since I stereotyped it as where the rich golfers will go until I personally tried the food there myself. It's like a hidden gems waiting to be discovered by food lovers.Fukuya offers a wide variety of options for those craving authentic Japanese cuisine in utterly perfect presentation. The dishes served are photo-worthy as it's often decorated with flowers or edible garnishes on exquisite dining wares. Jap-food lover you just had to add this one in your 'to-eat-list'. It's best to start off with Zensai, another term for AppetizerSeafood Mayo on Fresh Salad - $10.80Mixture of two types of seaweed, the green and brown one which I hardly see it in the market (probably just me), topped with my favourite seafood mayo~ The seaweed is really salty but crunchy if you tried eating it separately. However, once combined with the seafood mayo, you won't really feel that it's overpowering, instead it brings out an unique taste to the dish.Dobin Mushi - $10.80 Teapot SoupI had never tried something like this before, and it's quite a cool concept of having your soup served. It's sweet and refreshing. Ingredients looks simple, mainly consisted of mushrooms and oysters, but brought out the best of out it. Two ways to savour this, by adding the lime or skipping it. I tried both methods and preferred having my soup without lime.Sashimi - $68.80Fukuya Tokusen Platter (7 kinds)Toro, Uni, Botan Ebi, Salmon Belly, Katsuo Tataki, Shima Aji and TaiNot a fan of raw food, and my favourite food in a sushi bar is all the cooked food like crab-sticks, unagi and stuffs, but decided to give it a chance and I'm glad I did. All their sashimi are super fresh as it's all imported from Japan. It brings out the true definition of 'fresh saltwater' because you literally can taste it. It's worth every cent in your pocket, and everyone is all like I am going to come back to get this after they get their bonus.Yakimono - $20.80Gintara Mentaiyaki (All time favourite)It's the store's all time favourite, and no doubt mine as well. Grilled fish with mentaiyaki on banana leaf. Their mentaiyaki is thick and creamy and the banana leaf underneath gave it a little burnt feeling which enhance the taste and smell even better like how food being cooked under charcoal flames.Absolutely a must-try vote from me.Fukuya Aburi Sushi Mori (5 kinds) - $28.80Salmon, Anugu, Akami, Buri Belly, Unkun Uni & Ikura ToppingEveryone there was trying to convince me it wasn't spicy and stuffs, and I did finish all the sushi that are sadly all coated with wasabi except the unkun uni(sea urchin) one, by gulping water. I have to say that they are using authentic wasabi as it's not spicy and does not sting the eyes, it's just that the smell of wasabi that I disliked about. Nevertheless, the dish is much raved about and each sushi has its individual sauce and there is no need for soy sauce. I guess it's bad luck I couldn't enjoy this pretty much.Menrui - $26.80Fukuya Seafood Ramen (Small)This bowl of awesomeness is called small, and I think it takes two to finished it. Now I cannot imagine how many could their 'big' portion feeds. Do not be fooled by the colour of the ramen, it's not spicy at all, and surprisingly it's sweet. Vegetables, seafood are all tossed inside to create this sweet yet rich flavouring pumpkin-taste-alike soup. As you can see, the ingredients are super fresh and generously spread around the chewy noodles.Kyoho Ice Cream with Kuri Kanronni - $8.80Japanese Grape Flavour with Boiled ChestnutsAs usual, something I have been waiting for since the start because I am a sucker for desserts and I love KYOHO GRAPES. The sweetness is just right for me and it is as smooth as Gelato, while the chestnut adds texture to the smooth ice-cream. It's a unique combination as I have never expected chestnuts to go well with grapes but it did. I had a great yet different kind of experience there, and I believe you guys should try it too. It's always more difficult to find places with good food and good services. Dong Dae Mun is a famous store selling Korean finger food on the go. They have many varieties of finger food that I couldn't make up my mind. However I decided to choose sticks which they are famous for. 1. Korean MeatballI not really a fan of its meatball, and coated w chili and mayo as well.2. Seoul Crispy ChickenIt's also pretty good, chicken nicely done however its coated with chili and mayo3. Bulgaria ChickenChicken is tasty and heavily coated with teriyaki sauce. Chosen the Essential British @ $18 as it's Dolce Tokyo signature breakfast dish. It's a combination of baked beans, Chorizo Sausages,    Scrambled eggs on mash potatoes drizzled with brown sauce and cheese on toast. Don't be deceived by its small portion, it's actually very filling. It's quite unique and different from the normal breakfast set. It's served on chopping board and it's good and worth the price. Situated silently at level 3 of 313, it's right beside lowrys farm. It's a nice place to chill around or discuss stuffs. Playing light music with elegant decorations, it's a cozy area to enjoy Japanese desserts along your meals. Started the lunch with Salmon, my favorite food. I order a medium done Grilled Fillet of Salmon with sun-dried tomato and pine nut sauce @ $21.80. It's actually fresh grilled salmon with salad and sauce. The fish is tender and one bite you know you are in for a treat. However the pine nut sauce is tard oily for my taste. I would prefer eating the fillet on its own. Its base is coated with  tomato sauce similar to spaghetti, absolutely tasty.We chose the Profiteroles @ $8.20 - Choux pastry pastry puffs filled with Chantilly cream and topped with melted chocolate sauceIn short it tasted like gelato coated cream puff. The strawberry purée is light, tasted more like jam instead. It's not enough to cover the pancakes.Located along the path to H&M, it's very accessible and noticeable. Situated in Serangoon Garden, its inaccessibility really do turns me off at times but yet you know it's worth it because of the food.Nyonya Cabbage Roll - $10/$15/$20Cabbage wrapped in my favorite otah, topped with laksa-liked gravy sauce. It does not taste too milky nor spicy, just the perfect taste I'm comfortable with. Cabbage did not get all soggy even after soaked in the gravy for some time.Prawn with Nyonya Traditional Sauce $18/$27/$36It's one of my favorite dish of the day. This dish tasted like Assam Fish Head, spicy yet a little sour but on the good side of the scale. Prawn is fresh and I love its sauce. This is for them.Hainanese Chicken - $5/paxAnother of their 'best-seller' dish in Pow Sing. I think it just tasted normal, nothing like 'oh-so-awesome' but just traditional white chicken. The meat is not tender enough but the sauce added some point for this dish.Crispy Nyonya Tauhu - $8/$12/$16Crispy Tauhu that doesn't feel crispy, it's rather disappointing that it's not what I expected.Instead of crispy, it's more like taupok ._.Fish Head Curry - $32/$36Their fish is very fresh, all you get is tender white meat melting in your mouth. Their Assam sauce is powerful enough, not too spicy nor sour, best among those I ever eaten. (Y)(Y) It's the best among the rest (whoo)The ambience is more family-like, having big tables like those 'zi-char' place. It's very noisy during peak period because everyone come in big group and they chat loudly so perhaps choose a better timing before dropping by. Beside Pow Sing Restaurant, they have one along the same stretch of road, namely Pow Sing Kitchen. It's their sub restaurant but mostly selling stuffs like 'Hor Fan', 'Chicken Rice' all these. I'm considered as a VVVVVVIP of Frolick because I go there so often, partially because my friend is one of the froyo girls, and of course because I love to eat Frolick. But I'm quite particular in eating Froyo and I only ate two 'brand' and Frolick is one of them. They have 1-1 every Tuesday and Thursday, it's a steal and I always pop by to see if anyone I know is working or meet my niece to have some chit chat session there.I love their grape, strawberry and apple mix but definitely love their original the most. It's not too sour and does not melt very fast unlike some others, I was so glad that Frolick has a shop like this in Westmall because the rest doesn't really have lots of seats where you can chat with your friends like the one here.It's a great place to chill and of course to chat w my friends when she isn't busy.I have to say the most commonly sold topping is oreo, strawberry and fruity pebbles, either two is the best combination in the world, okay maybe too exaggerating but it's true! Wild Honey is the perfect dining place for couples and for small gathering because of its cozy ambient. The service was alright and lighting was set to an almost romantic level beside the window.I love their English Breakfast, and I've always been eating that when I dine at Wild Honey.The serving was actually quite big and I always couldn't finish the bacon and sausages, but I will definitely stuff myself with the thick toast, along scramble eggs, mushroom and potato. I love the potato and mushroom so much that I would actually buy extra for it, since the portion is big, I would share with my girlfriends the English Breakfast topping up the extra side. Though serving is quite big but it's quite costly to fine in here, almost every single dish would require at least $20. Oh well for the awesome food, it's once awhile kind of enjoyment in life.…查看更多

House: Vintage Tea PartyThis place is definitely the place for tai tai wannabe like me.House, located at Dempsey is a little bit isolated but who knows that actually all the good food are there, many different types of cuisine restaurant lies quietly in this remote place but luckily I had direct bus.FYI Vintage Tea Party is only available on Thursday and Friday 3 pm to 5.30pm. For most of the time it will remain as a fine dining restaurant.It was located quite inside and you have to walk down the steps to reach it, from outside it doesn't look very grand until you opened the door, you will understand why they named it a Vintage Tea Party.It’s the exact place where you might picture olden princess holding some porcelain teapot and flask, and they really do have those. Decoration and accessories, everything seems so vintage, including their toilet as well. Service was good and place is clean having nice ambience to sit and chit chat with friends, dreaming about being taitai. It’s really interesting to be in one of their vintage tea party, the crowd was alright, but I will urge to go down exactly at 3 pm because it’s mostly light food so you probably need a few rounds before you are done. Not to mention that the food there are really tasty.For those who love dessert you’re in for a good treat because desserts take up more than half of its meal in this vintage tea party. Beside desserts, they also have some bread and pizza if you’re hungry.My top favourite desserts would be the little desserts in the cup(Picture3), all 3 of them tasted superbly nice! Especially the one that looks like egg shell, it tasted like custard with a little sugar casing over it, absolutely awesome. Next would be the banana swiss roll that I took like more than 10? I regret not taking more though, Banana swiss roll is soft and spongey, rolled the fresh of banana, perfect combination. Cupcakes are considered average for me and quite commonly seen outside.It’s quite funny that this vintage tea party has curry chicken but it's really nice, the tender chicken added lot of points for their curry. Their mushroom skinny pizza and squid ink pizza wasn't bad however the mushrooms are slightly salty but I like it when layered on top of the skinny pizza neutralizing the saltiness.It would be much better if their variety get even more, like all kind of desserts all over the world, because there is only like 2 tables of desserts and 1 table for breads, another for cookies and biscuits but their food was really great, would totally bring friends to come again for some taitai's session! Astons is probably one of my favorite western dining place in Singapore. It serves yummy food at a very affordable price, without GST, it's nett regardless of amount spend. You probably spend less than $10 for food and plain water.I like the ambience, not too noisy, allowing space for me and boyf to enjoy our dinner. However affordable food tends to me lot and lots of customers during peak hours. The queue goes crazy during that period and most people comes in group, so it's always long wait. If you have early dinner you probably get to your seats in a short while.I always order black pepper fish, because it's tender and fresh. Along my two side would be pasta salad and mac & cheese. I swear mac & cheese is one of the best I've eating. If not for the calories I would order more but yeah, having two pasta with fish probably is the most satisfactory meal ever. I went to Antoinette for the very first time for my friend's 21st birthday. It was located at Penhas Road, somewhere so hard to get that I got lost with another friend. It's a French cafe lies around the heart of Lavender. Head over to Ahloythai with niece for dinner! and this is my 7th time to Ahloythai I really hate how they increase the price. I'm always paying more for what I did the last visit, and probably only months apart. Oh well, the food remains up to my expectation, so I shall deal with it. Arrived there at 6:15pm, and there is a queue outside and waited for 10min before getting a table; and that's only because there is only two of us dining. If there are more people, remember to do reservation. Their Tom Yum Soup was quite good, prawn was big and the price is reasonable as it can be shared among two person, just order additional rice alongStaffs not really friendly and you have to queue to pay and sometimes the food come after very long time, during peak hours, maybe some stuffs are out of stock even. Singapore's weather is bad, therefore more reason to have dessert every here and there. So whenever I come across Bugis street, I would definitely head down to Ah Chew Dessert for a bowl of nice and tasty Mango Sago. Ah Chew Dessert has lots of variety, be it customers who love hot dessert or those like me who prefer it cold. I've tried their aloe vera Strawberry, Mango Sago with and without pomelo, Honeydew Sago and lastly their Durian Sago.The Mango sago is thick and sweet, while the sago is really very nice and blends in well in Mango Sago. However I don't really like their pomelo because it has a ting of bitterness in it. I was filming for CNOS v2.0 and have chosen this as my favorite shop!I'm totally a 'jiak gan dang' kind of person.I love potato, all kinds of potato except potato chips ._.fast food kind of fries are nothing compared to their wacky fries with unique toppings.I mean com'on just look at their menu, you will be spoilt for choices to which you should try.Among the fanciful choices given, I still prefer the signature - MACHO CHEESE FRIES /FLEX MUSCLESIt may be very 'normal' but the cheese is thick and creamy, along the thick-cut fries, it's real filling and probably the best combination ever. & The staffs were generous with sauce.Beside fries, they also sell hot dog bread and nuggets that is inclusive of one dip, so if y'all sick of Mac's curry sauce coated nugget, can give this a try.You could pair up with a cup of Sjora for just $1.50 and I would recommend the Mango Peach flavor, not too thick nor sweet but perfect.The place would be better if they're more seats, it's really cramp and I've to wait for people to leave before I could finally sit down and take some pictures.
