We were here for a food-tasting session on a thursday evening. The location is not so accessible via the public transport. It's not near the MRT station and there's only 1 bus number at its nearest bus stop. But if you drives, it's still ok since the restaurant is facing a open air carpark. We were served 3 drinks - Nojito, Thai Milk Tea and Lemon Tea. I opted for Nojito since it was the most unique among the drinks. It's a non-alcoholic version of the commonly known Mojito. It was refreshing but lack the punch if you are used to Mojito. On a good side, it's safe for both kids and drivers. =pNext, we had 2 sides - Portbello and Fried Calamari. Both were okay, although I thought the calamari was kinda bland. The accompany side salad left a better impression on me with its special strawberry vingar sauce. Oh ya, if you are a non-spicy eater like me, please do not attempt the 'harmless' looking sauce that came with the Portbello. My tongue was burning throughout the session (and they dont served iced water here) =(.Do bear with the photos, lighting here was really bad for food photography.  It was changing coloured lightings. But if you are just here for the food, it does give you a romantic ambience? Sorry, I disgress. This was their Korean version of fried chicken. Tender but spicy. Hey, I aint fan of korean fried chicken. Bandung Pasta, which I didnt get to eat coz there was only 1 serving of each dish to share among us. Briyani Lamb Shank. It smelt really great when it was served on the table, but the taste fell short. The rice was okay but the lamb got a strong mutton taste which the spices didnt manage to conceal. The portion was big (meant for 2-3 pax to share) but we didnt manage to finish it.Ocean D Venue. In other words, fish n chips. The fish was okay without having a thick batter although I prefered the fries. Haha. Ong Bak Pasta. This was probably the best dish that I had that was worth recommending. It was creamy with a tinge of tom yum taste. It was actually better than the one that we had at 49seat which was recommended for tom yum pasta. We had waffles and chocolate fondue for desserts. Dont really like the waffles which was too soft/soggy for me, I like my waffles to be crispy at the outside and fluffy inside.Chocolate Overload Milkshake. This was quite disappointing as it tasted more of chocolate milk than chocolate milkshake. …查看更多

Food Tasting: Hombre Cantina
Hombre Cantina
2015-02-09
What was I doing at CBD area on a Saturday noon? Nah.... not for work, of coz! I was here for another session of food tasting, thanks to Openrice! HeeHombre Cantina is located at Boat Quay, facing the Singapore River. With its alfresco dining concept, it makes a nice place to chill out over Mexican food and a beer or two. =)And you 'hear' me right, we were having Mexican food at Hombre, really unique hor? To me, Mexican food is probably nachos, tacos & salsas sauces.... Let's find out more! Palette of colorful and gorgeous looking dishes! Cant wait to dig in!First, we had the plain nachos to try out the 3 salsas sauces. From the left to right, we had the mild pineapple chile salsas, medium fire roasted tomato salsas and finally, the most spicy one, hot salsa verde. The nachos were freshly made, so they remained crispy at the end of our 1.5 hour session. I was rather amazed that they didnt become "lau hong" after so long. Keke. Definitely an addictive snack for the chip lovers. There are 6 mains to choose from the menu, each priced at $15+, namely Nachos, Quesadillas, Salad Bowl, Rice Bowl, Tacos and Burrito. NachosTortilla chips topped with black beans paste, cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream & fresh cilantro. It was quite a huge basket and I suggested to share it with friends rather than having it as a main on your own. The 'secret ingredient' was the black beans paste, which was surprisingly good. QuesadillasTortilla folded & grilled with cheese, with the filling of your own choice: Fried Pacific Dory / Roasted Pork Shoulder/Braised Beef Brisket/Roasted Chicken Thigh/Roasted Veggies Roasted Chicken ThighBraised Beef BrisketWe got to try both the chicken and beef fillings, which were the more popular selection. I must say, this was my favorite main. The quesadillas were served warm with generous servings of the meat filling. BurritoTortilla with Mexican-styled rice, black beans, lettuce, pico de gallo & sour cream, with the filling of your own choice: Fried Pacific Dory / Roasted Pork Shoulder/Braised Beef Brisket/Roasted Chicken Thigh/Roasted Veggies Roasted VeggiesBraised Beef BrisketFor the rice lovers, you can opt for the burrito. The rice tasted a bit tangy and went well with the braised beef brisket, which was pretty tender. A pity was that the portion was a bit too big to handle? It may be messy to eat, especially for the office ladies. What I did was to just scoop out the filling and just ate the filling lor... Probably making them into mouth size portions will be better? Tacos3 soft corn tortillas wrapped with cabbage & pico de gallo, with the filling of your own choice: Fried Pacific Dory / Roasted Pork Shoulder/Braised Beef Brisket/Roasted Chicken Thigh/Roasted VeggiesI only tried the one with the medium salsas (the bottom picture), which came with the fried pacific dory. The fried pacific dory was nice, served warm and top with the cool tomato salsas.Salad BowlLettuce topped with black beans, pico de gallo & sour cream, topped of with your choice of filling.Rice BowlMexican-styled rice topped with black beans, lettuce, black beans, pico de gallo & sour cream, topped of with your choice of filling. At one glance, the salad bowl and rice bowl looked quite the same. The difference is merely more lettuce for the salad bowl or mexican-styled rice for the rice bowl. Personally, I prefer the salad bowl, being the healthier option and tasted refreshing! Especially, after we had so much tortilla earlier on. =pFor sides, we had the Mexican corn ($8) and Chicken Chicharrones ($10)The corns were sprinkled with Hombre's spice blend & cheese. But I find that the corns were a bit dry, not quite my liking, so I probably give this a miss next time. Chicken Chiccharrones what? I can already see the question marks popping. Dont be shock ar.... actually, they were fried chicken skins. The skins were crispy and not oily. And guess what? It was FREE during the Happy Hour 5 - 7pm DAILY. Free + daily = ultimate combination liao. Need more spice? Hehe.... #neverseebeforespicesomusttakepicture #superlonghashtagDaily offers! Dont forget to check it out!And dont forget to say hi to our friendly hosts! =)Visit http://fun-hideout.blogspot.sg/2015/02/food-tasting-hombre-cantina.html …查看更多

Wheeler's Yard
Wheeler's Yard
2014-12-27
Wheeler's Yard is a place where food & bike come together "hidden" in an industrial estate. I will not know this "ulu" place if not of the ravings from other bloggers. I love the spacious and unpretentious layout and I can totally imagine coming here with a group of friends to just eat and be fat. HeeheeMore seating outside the cafe! It's a self service concept here, so proceed to the counter to place your order. Get your buzzer and wait patiently for your food. Our orders: Hum Bao Bao - $23.90Grilled Chicken - $17.90Cappuccino - $5Root Beer - $3.90The grilled chicken was fairly normal.Super big burger with 2 thick patty & oozing cheese! The portion was humongous and I couldnt finish myself. No wonder most of those who ordered the dish were guys..I was deciding between Soursop Meringue Tart ($7.50) and Horlicks Tart ($7.90) as both sound more interesting than the commonly available fruit and chocolate tarts. Since hubby decided to "abandon" me by not sharing the load of the dessert with me, I went ahead to order the Soursop Meringue Tart which I know he will not like it being a boring and unadventurous eater. >.<Guess what? I loved it and I thought it was the best order of the day! The tart was crispy & hard, just the way I like the crust to be. The soursop filling was refreshing yet not overpowering. This is definitely something that I will order again. =)Visit http://fun-hideout.blogspot.sg/2014/12/wheelers-yard.html for more pictures and review ♥ ♥ ♥ …查看更多

1) chicken cordonthe chicken was quite tough and the cheese was almost non existent. It should probably be renamed as chicken breastmeat? =p2) saffon risottoi like risotto for its rich and creamy texture but apparently the risotto here failed to reach the mark. It tasted a tad sour, which wasnt really pleasant. Oh well, at least the crab meat was fresh.Overall, the bill came up to $40ish, considered expensive for the food quality. =(…查看更多

Shangri La - The Line
The Line
2014-12-20
Eating buffet is definitely an art. How to eat everything, making every penny worthwhile, and without making yourself uncomfortably full..... Well, FOLLOW ME as I embarked the journey for your eye feasting!First Stop --> SeafoodWell, obviously this was the most expensive session in the whole resturant. As a seasoned buffet eater, how could I not start off with all the sea treasures? What The Line offered was nothing fanciful, but juz a pure heart in just serving fresh seafood! Hmmm.. I could almost taste the sea salt myself! Ha..Prawn, Mussel, CrabsThe crabs were a bit, crabby to handle though... Could have been better if they were being shelled! But the prawns were great! Juicy & Sweet! Oysters Not a great fan of oysters myself. Anyway, review from my colleagues were, Osyters were indeed good, without the stingy smell.Second Stop --> Sashimi Another must visit stop! The sashimi would be freshly cut when you make your order over the counter. They have tuna, salmon and squid. ^__^Chunky slices of sashimi If ya dun like raw fish, they have sushi as well. But then you lugi lah, sashimi at Sakae cost $6.50 (red plate) while california roll cost $1.90. Ya noe wat I meant hor? HeeThird Stop --> Salad BarWell, not a must to stop here though. But I guess a bit of vege can ease the tension on your tummy.Fourth Stop --> Grilled Session Roast Chicken & Potato, Grilled fish & Prawn Grilled fish & PrawnThe prawn were..... simply magnificent, terrifying! I could not find a better word to descible. As an advice, take the grilled prawn first. Coz it always run out and ya got to wait for the chef to grill in the next round.Fifth Stop --> Cooked Food Pasta, Lasagna Chinese Cooked Food Dim SumSixth Stop -->Indian Food Kebabs and NaansOh, I like the naans here. Even though they are taboo when eating buffet, I cant help but to take just one small slice...keke Satay, roti prata, mutabakFinally, the highlight of the day ---> Desserts!!!! SCREAM PPL!! Chocolate FondueUnlike those pathetic fountain, this is Five Storey high at The Line! WOW! Cupcakes Pretty Dessert Finally, end off with coffee and tea ( free-flow)... What a satisfying lunch!Visit http://fun-hideout.blogspot.sg for more reviews!…查看更多

Marutama Ramen
Marutama Ra-Men
2014-12-20
I have to say this is one of my favourite ramen shop in Singapore. Even though the variety is limited, the price is not exactly cheap, I am still here for a couple of time liao. That's rare okay! Consider that I go round eating, to spend $$$ in the same shop again and again, that says a lot about the quality wor.The ramen here reminds me of the ones that I ate in Japan itself. The soup base is more tasty, and every ingredient is prepared delicately. In fact, even though the soup base is considered more salty ( but bearable), I will still finish every single drop.. Tamago Ramen This was the basic ramen, with just seaweed and one slice chao siew. The chao siew was tender, with just enuff fats to give a soft touch. The ramen was Q to the max. Well, I dunno whether it would become soggy if left for a period of time or not. Coz that will never happen! I can finish the whole bowl like within 15mins... Haiz, a bit wasted hor. I was actually "complaining" that the ramen was too much at first, but I still finished everything, ramen and soup...Aosa Ramen This was the ramen that I would usually ordered. Basically it was just additional seaweed ( $4 extra) on top of the basic one. I simply love the seaweed here! It was definitely different, and I dun seemed to eat it elsewhere. So no choice, whenever I got the craving for the seaweed, got to come here... The chef " cunning" lah, used special ingredient...Ajituke Tamago Well, the ramen doesnt come with the egg, so got to order it as a side order. But the egg was actually cooked the same way in Japan oso. Dunno how they do it, it was not the half-cooked one like Ya-Kun, nor was it fully cooked.. It tasted well cooked, but the egg yolk was still semi-watery.. There was so much "knowledge" in making the perfect egg man.. Heng, I'm only "responsible" to eat and not to prepare!! HohoAnyway, I think everything here is good! The egg, the seaweed, the daikon, the char siew, the ramen, the soup... Must try!Visit http://fun-hideout.blogspot.sg for more reviews!…查看更多

Asia Grand
Asia Grand Restaurant
2014-12-20
To start of, I'm not a great fan of Chinese food. I thought they taste almost the same everywhere, with not much novelty. My mum can cook as well leh! But Asia Grand is one of the few that I think scores well in service, food and presentation.Peking DuckThe staff would push a trolley with the roasted duck to your table. You could enjoy the visual effect of how skillful they were at slicing thin layers of the duck skin and then wrapped them in the crepe skins. Great for me, coz I dun like to dirty my own hands =pDouble Boiled Whole Winter Melon SoupDie die must drink this!! It tasted heavenly, with ingredients like winter melon ( obviously), prawn, scallops, vege etc. The soup was superb sweet lor and the melon would just melted in your mouth! The melon was so big that we could each have 3-4 bowls. Yum Yum!! One thing to complement was their service => Thumbs up!! The staff would refill the soup for us almost immediately, and also helped us to scrap the melon. One of them was humorous too. He actually told us dun waste food, kept asking us to refill which was unlike other places, who tried to clear your plates even before you finished your food.Stewed Tian-Jing Cabbage with MushroomGuess what? The Chinese name of this vege is called 娃娃菜 ( Doll Doll Vegetable), cute rite? Tasted like white cabbage with golden mushroom and black mushroom. Kinda like 家常便饭, very home-cooked style.Prawn Coated with Salted EggWell, never eat anything like this before. Cant really say I love it or hate it. Rather it was a confused feeling, "excited" over the exotic way of cooking prawn yet I wanna rekindle the familiar taste of prawn. Keke... dun hit the wall lah.. I'm trying to describe, maybe slightly exaggerating only mah... =pThis was normal fish cooked in HK style. Nothing much to flaunt here.So let's move on..Sheng Noodles with Shredded DuckThis must be the "leftover" of our Peking Duck. I was still wondering whether they were trying to cheat us by giving us only the skin!! Hahaha. But I would prefer ee mian rather than the sheng noodles though. Still, they did a good job and we finished the noodles even though we were already 101% full..Visit http://fun-hideout.blogspot.sg/ for more reviews!…查看更多

Seafood CounterIf you've read my blog before, you would know I always "attack" the seafood first!! Who will go to buffet and eat vegetable, of coz must eat the expensive stuff mah!!Close-up of the seafood courtesy of ME!Mud CrabsCrayfishScallopsSweet ClamsCarousel really has a wide variety of seafood to offer, probably even more than The Line. There were also appetizers like ham, smoked turkey etc. Cant remember eating them though.. Too many varieties lah, difficult to comb through everything..Another mystery items... Seriously, now I look at this picture, I have no idea what they are??? HahahahaSashimi & Sushi CounterPretty, pretty... A bed of roses??My favourite salmon!! I was quite selective in terms of eating sashimi, salmon is definitely my first choice. Another favourite is amaebi which they dun have it here. Still, I was pretty satisfied with the sashimi.. Freshness is the vital element! Now let's move on to the " ang-mo" counter. Again, I was overwhelmed by their varieties.Beef => This was kinda tough though... one serving was enuff for meRoasted ChickenRoasted lamb, potatosThere was also a chef who would help you to cook your pasta the way you like. Choose between penni, linguine, spaghetti and the sauce. There you have, your own pasta!!Chinese Roast StallIndian Food CounterFinally, the Dessert counter! Regardless of how much I eat, there will always be room for dessert. Tell me which ger can resist the temptation of dessert, she badly needs my counselling service!!Cakes, mousses, puddings... You name it, you got it! =pMore!!Bling Bling Pudding ~ Mango Pudding, Pandan Tiramisu, Chocolate Pudding(s)Bread PuddingUsually, I felt that bread pudding is just soggy bread so no special liking for it. But the one at Carousel was good, so must try!! Remember to put lotza of vanilla topping on it! Perfect match!!…查看更多

Edamame - $4This was served to us when we were waiting for our food to be served. Actually I tot it was free, you know, like tibits for you to kill time while waiting for the food. Not too sure whether it was compulsory but if you dont want, perhaps can decline it.Otoro Sushi - $64 ( Price changes according to seasonal rates)Look at that!! Beautiful!!! Do I need to say more??Please dun insult OTORO by asking me to describle more... How could I describe heaven when I'm never being there before??To the practical side, the price is approximately $32 for 2 otoro sushi. Why four? Because I was in a group of 4, so ordered 2 portions lah! Alamak!!Next, my 2nd LOVE... Amaebi!Ama Ebi Sushi - $12One thing I must really give compliments, the sashimi part was much bigger than the rice portion. From the pictures, you hardly notice that they were actually sushi rather than sashimi. That would justify the higher cost than normal. Not to forget, the seafood was so fresh that you can really taste sweetness in them.*******Well enuff of raw food, let's have eye feasting on warm cuisine instead which were as fantastic!Buta Yaki - $15Buta Yaki is actually grilled pork slices, they were good but there were even better meat like.........MOOoooOOOOOOOoBEEF!!Tenderloin Steak (11og) - $22 ( Price changes according to seasonal rates)I simply love this. The steak was cubed such that there was certain thickness to allow you to enjoy the "chewyness", if you know what I meant. I cant stand thin slices of steaks, it was just wasting food coz most of the time the steaks would end up overcooked! The beef was cooked to perfection, with the inner core slighly red without being too bloody. Yet, the meat was tender & juicy enough. The cow must have being brought up listening to classical music!! HehePitan Tofu - $4Niniku Yaki Meshi - $5I fall in love with Japanese garlic rice after trying it at Sakae Teppanyaki at Changi T3. The rice was definitely more fragrant that normal white rice. If you have the stomach & budget to eat after trying all their other nice nice items, yes, please try this also. =)Cha Soba - $8The "Sunrise"& The " Sunset"Beside the above, we still ordered 2 other set meals which come in soup, side dishes and fruits.Gintara Misozuke Set - $20Tori Katsu Set - $16********The total bill came up to S$228 after all taxes. OMG!!!!That mean we spent $57 per pax for a dinner!!!! OMG AGAIN!!!…查看更多

Capricci
Capricci Italian Restaurant
2014-12-20
The restaurant was nicely decorated with a warm cozy feel. For the pictures of the restaurant, you may want to browse the website instead for a better gauge. Service was nice & warm too, and they changed your utensil after every course, high class service standard indeed. I'm not complaining but I kinda not used to such "atas" (high class) environment. LOL.We were served a basket of warm bread almost immediately when we were seated, which was complimentary. However, both my bf and I felt that the focaccia bread was a tad salty and so we dint finish the bread. The other bread in cubes was better, being soft and fluffy, which went very well with the olive oil/balsamic vinegar dip.Broccoli Souffle with Cheese Fondue ($22)I was expecting broccoli served in cheese dip for this dish, so this came as a surprise presentation. It was served warm and soft, like mash tofu with broccoli. The cheese in it was very mild, so mild that I would never though there was cheese in it if not for the name. So I guess, this should appeal to non-cheese lovers too. A pleasant yet unique dish. 36 months cured Parma ham with rock melon sorbet ($24)Again, I was "wow" by the presentation. Have you ever thought of serving sorbet as your appetizer? And have you ever thought that rock melon as normally paired with parma ham can be replaced by rock melon sorbet? Wow, that was C-R-E-A-T-I-V-E. Okay I must say parma ham was never my favourite. On its own, it was very salty. The saltiness was slightly "covered up" by the sorbet as I used the ham to wrap around a generous scoop of the rock melon ice-cream. Haha. Dun mind me, I admit I dunno how to appreciate parma ham. John Dee grass fed Beef Tenderloin with green peppercorn sauce and parboiled asparagus ($38)The serving was quite generous with a thick slab of premium meat, but I thought the serving was quite plain with just boiled (tasteless) asparagus. Perhaps, the chef's intention was for the diners to focus on the premium meat instead? *Pondered*Anyway, I ordered medium rare. It was very juicy and "bloody" yet not uncooked, leaving the meat very moist and tender. I think I mentioned this before ~ the red juice which seemed bloody was not blood. Basically, most of the blood will be drained from all meat before it is cooked. But my bf was pretty turned off by the bloody scene. HohoBreaded Norwegian Salmon with herbs and cherry tomato confit ($38)Again, focus was on the salmon, which means no sides except for the cherry tomato buried underneath the big piece of salmon. Very soft and fresh, a pretty well done dish.Panna Cotta drizzled with Strawberry Coulis ($14)Finally, desserts came!We were told that this was one of the more popular dessert at Capricci and so we ordered the panna cotta! Very creamy texture and milky taste, so I guess you need to love dairy product to like this dessert. On the other hand, the strawberry coulis was quite sour, only good as decoration. Bounette ala Piemontese (Cocoa Pudding) with crushed Amaretti Biscuits ($16)Nothing will go wrong with chocolate definitely. What enlighten this dessert was the extra touch of the crushed amaretti biscuits and nuts, which added crunchiness to the soft cocoa pudding. Overall, we had a pretty enjoyable lunch with good food and service. Then again, the pricing may be a bit too hefty for me to revisit.Visit http://fun-hideout.blogspot.sg for more reviews!…查看更多

We needed dinner and without much 'hassle' (as selection was not plentiful), we decided on beef cheek to share.Slow Braised Beef Cheek with Buttery Mash - $25I would say the beef cheek was alright, really soft although a tad boring for one pax to finish everything on the plate. I decided beef cheek isnt my cup of tea, I still prefer my beef to be chewy & tender, rather than mashed up. Well, it just lack the texture that I like. *Shrugged*Spam Fries with Kaffir Lime Mayo- $8I was curious what was spam fries and ordered it as well. Alas, wrong choice. it was a weird taste, a tad saltish sourish? Taiwan Lychee Beer - $13This caught my eyes as I scanned through the drinks menu. They got both Melon & Lychee flavored beer but i decided the latter as i thought the taste was more distinct. End up, it was really good if you have a sweet tooth, can literally smell & taste the lychee!Overall food was nothing to shout about, but great place to drink ands chill with friends. Gals (& maybe guys?), do you like cakes & desserts & flowers and a photo bomb venue? If the answer is yes, you should try the Vintage High Tea at House! Be ready, as I bombed you with many many photos! KekeAlthough food were limited to mini pizza, sandwiches, puffs and cakes, they were definitely filling enough. Even my husband had his fill, and we cant stomach any dinner after this. That's the great part of hi-tea ~ settle your lunch and dinner in a meal! All the above for just $25++! There were lots of cakes and tarts to choose from, definitely a heaven for the sweet tooth. It was also very thoughtful that most items came in small portion, which allows diner to try out more varities. The not so good part is that this Vintage high tea is only available on Thursday and Friday, 3pm - 530pm. No problem for those still schooling ( it's okay to skip a lecture or two ma.. =p) but those working, probably can only do "pretend tai tai life" with the "sacrifice" of a half day leave. Visit http://fun-hideout.blogspot.sg/2013/11/house-at-dempsey.html for more photos! ♥ ♥ ♥ …查看更多

Food Tasting: Ramen Isshi
Ramen Isshi
2014-12-18
Ramen Isshi is conveniently located at One Raffles Place, next to Raffles Place MRT. In fact, I have been going to ORP for lunch, but have never known its existence as it is located at the far end on the 4th floor. After reading this post, do make an effort to visit Ramen Isshi ok? The restaurant is chi-na decorated and for a moment. I thought I had walked into a Chinese restaurant. As explained by our host, Nick Yen, this is a true blue authentic Japanese cuisine restaurant with element of Chinese influence. What makes it even special is that the noodles, baos and gyozas are all freshly made in their own kitchen to ensure freshness and quality. Enuff said, let's tuck in!10 course lunch, felt so pampered! =)Started the lunch with Lemon Yellow Juice which is a concoction of soursop & pineapple. A very refreshing shot to clear our palate. Tofu with Century Egg - $8Soft and smooth tofu with chinese sesame oil rather than the usual japanese sesame sauce. Carrot Cake with Saffron - $8This is definitely very different from the usual squarish carrot cake; similar ingredients are reconstructed to add new life to this dish. Instead of wheat flour, japanese rich flour is used and so it tasted almost like savory mochi with carrots bits and the oh-so-familiar xo sauce. Chicken Wings Fritto - $6Fried chicken mid wings. sliced into halves to make it easier to eat, soaked in soya sauce. Unanimously agreed a finger linking good side dish! Tuna Sashimi & Avocado Salad Asian Style - $12We were suppose to wrap the egg yolk, tuna sashimi and avocado with the seaweed and dip with the sesame sauce. But beware of the tiny red bits, they are sezhuan pepper!Homemade Kua Bao in Assorted Flavours - $8There are 6 flavours namely tumeric (dark yellow), beetroot (red), macha (green), prune (yellow), sesame (black) and original (white). The colour/flavour will be decided by the chef to add a surprise element for the diners. But hor, the original ones a bit plain lah so must dip with the peking duck sauce. Finally, our main course! Tonkotsu Shiro Ramen - $12 Tonkotsu Kuro Ramen - $13Tonkotsu Aka Ramen - $13All the ramen soup based are pork based, with slight variation to cater to the different preference. I personally like the original pork based (Shiro) which was favorable yet light. For those who prefer a stronger taste, Kuro, with added sesame oil, shallot and garlic may be more suitable.Aka came with added seafood broth with a spicy kick. Too spicy for my liking, but the seafood broth was very distinct which reminded me of the prawn soup. To make us even more happy =p, we were also served fruit flavoured makgeolli. Strawberry Makgeolli Pineapple MakgeolliWe adored the Makgeolli and the host generously offered us another serving, this time round, pineapple. But I still prefer the strawberry one la...kekeAlmond Jelly with Framboise - $5Layers of almond, raspberry and passionfruit to complete our sumptuous lunch!Lunch special is offered here, which includes ramen + free flow of salad bar. This is really a good idea, especially for ladies who like to have a balanced meal. Ramen Isshi also provides delivery and currently they have this promotion which includes the container, warmer bag and of course ramen at S$25!To read more & view photo, visit http://fun-hideout.blogspot.sg/2014/12/food-tasting-ramen-isshi.html! ♥ ♥ ♥ …查看更多

Birthday Treat - Absinthe
Absinthe
2014-11-29
Since it was our first time at Absinthe, we wanted to try more items and opted for the set dinner, priced at $88 each pax. If you browse through the menu, it will be apparent that the set is more worthwhile as the ala carte items are rather expensive. The place itself is really cozy, with a choice of the quieter indoor setting or the alfresco dining along Singapore River.Saint JacquesHokkaido Scallops Carpaccio, Hazelnut, Fava Beans and Soy-Argan Oil DressingNext, we had the Hokkaido scallops. The scallops were sliced so thinly that I cant really taste the natural sweetness of a scallop. But I've to admit this was an interesting dish ~ the dressing itself overpowered the scallops, in a nice way of course. And the nuts & beans added on a crunchy touch. Very intriguing indeed. Homard1/2 Boston Lobster, Seaweed Butter and Angel Hairs with Ikura - $32 (Additional Order)We ordered an extra entree for sharing and we loved this one! The lobster was so succulent and there was so much meat. The pasta was cooked with the right hardness, topped off with salmon roes. We almost squealed in delight. Definitely a must order for me in my next visit! Bisque Traditional Lobster Bisque More lobster, anyone? ^_^The soup was smooth and super flavourful. I though it was slightly too thick ('gao') for me. Nevertheless, we still polished the bowl clean. Foie Gras PoêléPan Fried Foie Gras, Morello Cherries and BlinisI'm not a foie gras person but I thought this was quite okay. The foie gras came with a small slice of pancake & sweet berries sauce. Portion was neat although I can only manage half of it; hubby finished everything including my other half portion. KekeCabillaudRoasted Black Cod, Prawn Risotto and Kaffir Lime Leaf EmulsionBy now, we were really full and it was good that the risotto came in spoonfuls portion. The risotto was lovely, creamy with bite size prawns. Cod fish, on the hand, was a tad saltish but still good. Pore IberiqueSeared Iberico Pore "Presa" Pommery Mustard and Ragu of Brussels SproutsWe were told that this was pork, but we thought it tasted like beef ~ sweet & tender. Yummy! PêcheStewed Seasonal Peaches with Crumble and Peach SorbetSomewhat unusual dessert. The peach fruit was warm, but without the fruit sweetness, which was nicely complemented by the peach sorbet. Overall, it was a lavish meal that we enjoyed very much with the ambiance, service and food. Definitely a place to consider for anniversaries, birthdays or when you feel rich and wanna pamper yourself with a good meal. (^.^)VVisit http://fun-hideout.blogspot.sg for more review! ♥ ♥ ♥ …查看更多

L'Entrecote
L'Entrecote The Steak & Fries Bistro

Complimentary rose wine Complimentary BreadHomemade Duck Foie Gras Terrine - $19A super big piece of duck foie gras was given, which made the presentation not so pleasant. Taste wise, I find it salty and too 'fishy' for my liking. We didnt finish it, and we noticed that the table beside us also didnt finish the foie gras.Entrecote Steak & Walnuts Green Salad - $29Additional legendary sauce/ walnuts green salad at $5.The green salad with the additional walnuts was a nice starter before we indulged ourselves in lotza meat! Oh yeah, the most appealing part of having dinner here to me is ~ both the fries and beef are refillable. Great news for big eaters huh? Taste wise, pretty mediocre and I dun quite understand what's so great about the "legendary" sauce that people actually need to top up $5 for additional sauce, while it's free to top up the beef. Doesn't sound logical to me. The beef itself came in 4 doneness - raw, medium raw, medium done & well done. Yes, there were dinners beside me who took the 'raw' option.. felt weird to me. Overall, it was a rather passable meal with little variety. Probably a better choice for those who merely just wan the quantity. *Shrugged*Visit http://fun-hideout.blogspot.sg for more review! ♥ ♥ ♥ …查看更多
