Fried Kway Teow
Lao Fu Zi Fried Kway Teow
2014-12-22
Came here with friends for dinner on a weekday and my friend recommended the fried kway teow from this stall. From the look of the presentation, it seems quite tasty. After tasting, the kway teow is full of flavours both from the seasoning as well as the fragrance from the wok. Sufficient dark soy sauce, other seasoning is added and does not too salty. Other ingredients such as the bean sprout, chinese sausage, fresh cockles and sliced vegetables were also added. Their cockle is very fresh, juicy and the size is quite big as compared to other stalls. Overall, quite a tasty fried kway teow from this stall.   …Read More

Ban Mian Dry
Ban Mian . Fish . Seafood Soup - Kopitiam
2014-12-22
With the recommendations from my various friend for the dry version of the ban mian from this stall. Here I am today to try out the ban mian. After looking through the cooking process, it is actually the same as cooking the soup version of the ban mian just that the soup has been removed. The seasoning of is made up of the addition of vinegar, dark soy sauce and chili. This three sauces combined together to form a unique taste which suits perfectly with the ban mian. The taste is quite different from the minced meat noodle seasoning. The ban mian itself is sufficiently cooked and the serving is quite a lot as well. Other ingredients include minced pork and some sliced vegetable. Last but not least, the soup is full of flavours and is not too salty and goes very well with the ban mian. Thumbs up for their dry version of the ban mian and will definitely recommend to my friends !! Come try it if you like ban mian. …Read More

Thai Cuisine
Diandin Leluk Thai Restaurant
2014-12-22
Time to crave for some Thai food and after doing some read-up, I have found out this restaurant in Golden mile complex with several recommendations. The restaurant was quite packed during dinner hours on a Saturday. After looking through their menu, we ordered several dishes which include pineapple rice, sambal kangkong, mango salad, bbq pork, pandan leaf chicken and tom yam soup. As for dessert, we have ordered the tapioca with coconut as well as the mango sticky glutinous rice. First of all, the waiting time is quite fast and the food is served within 4-6 minutes after ordering. For the pineapple rice, it is topped with a generous amount of the floss and the rice is still pipping hot when served. Taste wise is quite tasty with sufficient seasoning and is not too bland nor salty. Next, the sambal kangkong is sufficiently cooked, has a spicy taste and slight crunchy texture. The mango salad is very refreshing, appetizing and I think more sauce can be added. The bbq pork is quite normal and has a slight bbq aroma. The tom yum soup and the pandan leaf chicken is my favorite. The tom yum soup is very fragrance, full of flavours and is spicy enough. It includes ingredients like sliced squid, prawn, lemongrass and other spices. I think this is the best tom yum soup that I have ever tasted. Thumbs up for this. As for the pandan leaf chicken, the chicken is well seasoned, have a nice pandan aroma as well as a slight sweetness. The chicken itself also has a tender texture. Lastly, as for the dessert, the mango sticky glutinous rice is quite presented. The mango is not too sour and taste fresh. The glutinous rice can be cooked longer as the texture is not too soft that I have expected. The tapioca with coconut is well cooked. The tapioca has a soft texture and is aromatic as well. The coconut sauce is fragrance but I think it is a little too sweet for my preference. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the service as well as the food standard. Will definitely recommend to my friends and will definitely be back for a second time !!…Read More

Sliced cakes
The Pine Garden
2014-12-22
Brought several slices of cake which include the nolgastic chocolate cake, traditional colour gel cake as well as the salted caramel sliced cake. Apart from this flavours, this cake shop also offers a wide range of various flavour of sliced cake. First of all the chocolate cake is covered with a generous amount of chocolate chip. The cake itself is a chocolate flavour, texture wise is not too spongy and the cake is slightly on the dry side. Next the salted caramel cake is coated with the Caramel sauce. This cake is made from a vanilla sponge cake which has filling that is made from caramel sauce together with the whipped cream. The thickness of the cream mixture is not too thick nor sweet. Prices start from $1.80 onwards which is very reasonable, taste and look appealing!! Will definitely come back for more sliced cake !!…Read More

Ramen
Menya Musashi
2014-12-22
It was my first time having Ramen at this restaurant. Their ordering system is different from the traditional way whereby this restaurant uses tablet. After looking through the menu, the ramen comes in 3 different soup base which include the white, black, as well as the spicy flavour. I ordered a bowl of the black tonkotsu ramen for lunch. First of all, the soup base is well brewed and seasoned, not too salty nor bland but is slightly too oily. As for the ramen itself, it is sufficiently cooked, soft and slight chewy texture. This bowl of ramen also come with two pieces of deep fry Tao kee which has a nice aroma. Next the Cha shu is not pipping hot when serve but is well seasoned with pepper and salt. The Cha shu itself has a very tender texture and the belly fat is not too thick. Lastly the ramen egg is well cooked, has a soft and slight runny egg yolk and a nicely cooked egg white. Overall, still quite a good bowl of ramen and price starts from $13.90 onwards.…Read More

Fried kuay tiao
Fried Kway Teow
2014-12-14
After walking around the hawker centre, it's time to crave for one of my favorite Hakwer food which is the fried Kuay tiao. In coincidence, this stall was featured on one of the food recommendation show on channel 8. Although this plate of Kuay tiao is quite unhealthy, it is good that we eat in moderation. Taste wise was up to standard, with the use of the dark soy sauce and other seasonings to bring out the flavour of the Kuay tiao. The amount of seasoning used was just nice as the taste of the Kuay tiao was not too bland or too salty. Fresh cockles are used to further enhance the taste. Apart from cockles, it also includes other ingredients such as the sliced fish cake, bean sprout as well as the chinese sausage. Overall quite a good plate of Kuay tiao from this stall and pricing wise is also quite reasonable.…Read More

Satay
Xiu Lan Xing Cooked Food
2014-12-14
Brought a plate of satay after a walk around Changi village. I ordered a total of 5 chicken and 5 mutton satays. The satay was served pipping hot as it was grilled only when ordered. The satay was very well grilled with some slight charcoal area which help to enhance the taste of the satay. Both the chicken and pork meat was well marinated and has a tender texture. As for the satay gravy, it was also served piping hot and there were small chunks of peanuts in it. The gravy was not too watery and goes very well with the satay as well as the sliced onion and cucumber. Overall, quite a tasty meal of satay from this stall and price start from 60 cents per stick for chicken, mutton, pork as well as the satay rice. A minimum of 10 sticks of satay must be ordered at one time.…Read More

Duck rice set
Leng Kee Chicken & Duck Rice
2014-12-14
It was around lunch time on a weekend and queue can be seen from this stall. So I decided to order some mixed intestine dish as well as their duck meat noodle. First of all, the intestine was very well prepared and cooked. The intestine has no sign of the raw taste and has a very tender texture and slight chewiness. Especially the pig skin, it was sufficient cooked until it is soft and smooth texture. As for the tau kwa and the egg, it was well braised with the dark soy sauce. Next the duck meat was also very well cooked and has a very tender texture. As for the gravy of the intestine dish, it was a bit too salty for my preference. Lastly, their chili comes in two different kinds. One of which is the watery type and the other one is the paste type. Both are well seasoned, prepared and goes very well with all the intestine dishes as well as the duck meat. Price wise is quite reasonable and taste is also quite good. So why not give it a try.…Read More

Fried oyster
Ghee Huat
2014-12-14
Whenever I think of ordering fried oyster, popular food market such as old airport road, newton food market, chomp chomp will come to my mind. Because this are the places that offer a wide variety of seafood dishes which include my favourite sambal stingray, fried oyster, sambal lala and many more. I decided to try out the fried oyster from this stall to see is there any difference from the above mentioned food market. First of all, the starch portion is not too concentrated and is mixed thoroughly with the egg mixture. There is a slight crispyness in the starch and egg mixture and does not taste too oily. The oyster used is fresh and quite juicy. As for the chili sauce, it taste refreshing and goes very well with the oyster but I think it is a little too watery. Overall, this plate of fried oyster is quite up to the standard and price wise is also reasonable.…Read More

Wanton noodle
Wanton Noodles - Kopitiam
2014-12-14
Brought a bowl of the wanton noodle from this stall for lunch on a weekend. First of all the presentation was not very appealing as all of the wanton was not placed together. Next, the taste of the wanton noodle was not too bad, still acceptable but the seasoning was a bit too oily. The noodle is a bit on the dry side. The wanton is filled with a generous amount of fillings, well cooked and goes well with the noodle. The soup taste quite refreshing and is not too bland. I think that they should include more ingredient in this bowl of wanton noodle such as the char siew to make this bowl of noodle more attractive to the customer.…Read More

Wanton noodle
Kok Kee Wanton
2014-12-14
Ever since I went to jurong west food market for breakfast, long queue can always be seen from this wanton noodle. But I did not have a chance to try on their wanton noodle. Recently, I decided to try it to see what so special about their wanton noodle that attracted so many customers to queue during breakfast hour. First of all, the presentation is still acceptable, just a bit too messy. Next, the portion of the char siew and the sliced vegetable is slightly too little for one person portion. The seasoning is not too strong and is closer to the bland side. But with the addition of their chili paste, it helps to enhance the seasoning. The noodle is sufficiently cooked, not too dry. As for the char siew and the sliced vegetable, it taste fresh and goes very well with the noodle. Apart from this two ingredients, this plate of wanton noodle is also accompanied by a bowl of wanton soup with several mini wanton. The wanton contain a small amount of the meat fillings, not over cooked and has a clear and refreshing soup to go with it. Price wise is also very reasonable at around $2.50 to $3.…Read More

Dessert time !!
Ice Garden Dessert
2014-12-14
Brought two bowls of dessert from this stall which consists of ice kachang and cendol. First of all, the ice kachang is topped with a generous amount of the sweet corn paste. The ice kachang is also covered with different colouring syrup to bring flavours to the bland taste of the shaved ice. On the bottom of the ice kachang, it includes the traditional ingredients such as the cubed jelly, grass jelly, red bean and as well as the atap seed. Overall, the ice kachang does not taste too sweet and is very refreshing. Next, the presentation of the cendol is quite bland which only includes the addition of the gula melaka syrup. Taste wise is aromatic with the right amount of the gula melaka as well as the coconut milk. Ingredients include several kinds of jelly as well as the atap seed. Sweetness level is also not too sweet. Price is very reasonable and this stall offers a wide variety of dessert that will cater to every individual.…Read More

Ngoh hiang
Xin Sheng Gor Hiong Prawn Cracker
2014-12-14
Time to crave for some ngoh hiang and coincidentally found this stall. I ordered several ingredients which include the prawn crackers, deep-fried you tiao with sesame seeds, yam filling ngoh hiang, fish cutlet and many more. First of all, the prawn cracker is very crispy and has an aromatic prawn taste. Next, with the addition of the sesame seeds to the you tiao, it help to enhance the flavour and at the same time giving an aromatic taste. All of the ingredients is well deep fried and surprisingly it does not taste oily. Lastly, the sauce does not taste too spicy and is not too watery as well. Overall, quite a good standard of ngoh hiang from this stall.…Read More

Braised pork rice set meal
Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert
2014-12-14
Ever since I lasted visited their various outlet, I have noticed that their menu has not changed much for a period of duration except a minor change in their dessert which is lemongrass ice jelly with soursop. I have brought their set meal which comes with a side dish and dessert with a top up of a small sum of money. As for the main dish, I have ordered the braised pork belly with the salted vegetable. The pork belly is well braised, has a soft and tender texture. The amount of fats in the pork belly is also not too much. The sauce is well seasoned and is not too salty and goes well together with the rice. As for the rice, I think it is a little too moist for my preference. Together with the salted vegetable and the pork belly, it forms a unique taste combination. As for the side dish and dessert, it includes a piece of the steamed cake as well as the lemongrass ice jelly with soursop. The taste of the yam cake is quite normal. As for the lemongrass ice jelly with soursop, the addition of the lemongrass to the ice jelly bring a refreshing flavour but I think the amount of the lemongrass should be reduced as the taste is a little too strong for my preference. Overall, I think that they should introduce new dishes to attract more customer to patronize their stall.…Read More

Yong tau foo
Go Yong Tau Foo - Foodfare
2014-12-14
With the attracting display of all the Yong tau foo ingredients, it surely attract all those who love to choose their own ingredients for their meal. Not only is there a wide variety of ingredients to choose from, the price is also very reasonable at $3 for six ingredients. All of their ingredients are fresh and they will make the effort to deep fry some of the ingredients that is suitable to deep fry to give a crispy texture. Not all of the Yong tau foo stall will deep fry the ingredients. Lastly, the sweet sauce and the chili sauce is well made and does not have a watery texture and goes very well with all the ingredients and well as the noodle. This stall is definitely a must try for those who love to eat Yong tau foo!!…Read More
