Presenting a new bistro in Singapore where you can enjoy gourmet delicacies such as caviar and ebiko (shrimp roe) at accessible prices. Ta-Da! The Bistro has recently opened at Bras Basah and boasts gourmet dishes such as Seaweed & Caviar Cold Pasta ($16), Iberico Pork ($23.90), and Wagyu Striploin ($24.90).The man behind the cuisine, Mr Ta Da, has been trained in France and hails from the kitchen of Joël Robuchon. He brings his vast culinary experience to create a menuwith dishes featuring his unique spin on classic bistro flavours. All the dishes are prepared in-house even bar grubs such as the Triple J Wings ($12) accompanied with a blue cheese dip. The Basilic Chips ($10) are a clear winner with their fluffy texture and gnocchi-like shape, and can only be found at TaDa! The Bistro. Pair these starters with the Happy Hour drink promotions and you’vegot the perfect after-work hangout spot.Casual date nights have never been easier. The chilled ambience is welcoming toanyone who loves a gourmet meal without having to worry about fine diningetiquette.Secret DJ with theirDigital JukeboxTo add to the atmosphere, The Bistro is surrounded with black chalkboard walls thathave been decorated with hand drawings by their very own friendly staff. In onecorner you’ll find the menu and sights of Singapore, while on the other side, you’llfind funny quotes and anecdotes from the owners, explaining the story of the cafe.Bacon n Egg 10” Pizza $9.90, probably a hit with the kids, according to the cafe. They held a private birthday party for a 10 year old girl and this was the crowd favourite. Which leads me to wonder, if this is a casual dining cafe that offers alcohol, and also wants to captivate parents to hold children's birthday parties here? The Salmon & Ebiko Pasta ($18) is made with a homemade sauce and topped withtobiko. Highly recommended, the al-dente pasta, served with my favourite tobiko and salmon was just so good! The pasta were evenly tossed to provide each mouthful, a flavourful and aromatic experience. The salmon was sizeable but a tad too sweet for my liking. Nevertheless, substantial portion and a flavourful note was definitely worth the indulgence. The combination of tobiko, seaweed and salmon was a wining factor and pleasant sensation to my taste buds.Served with broccoli purée, edamame (green soybeans) and spice-infused tomatoes, this huge serving of salmon ($21.90) is sure to satisfy your salmon cravings. The end result of pan frying this salmon, crispy, thin salmon skin along with tender, melt in your mouth salmon. The flavour from the homemade edamame (green soybeans) sauce.Corn Fed Chicken $17.90, glistering brown chicken leg skin is what made this dish look so irresistible. The chicken was so tender, that even the breast meat did not taste dry! A dish worth recommending!Wagyu Striploin $24.90, served with whipped Potato, Grilled Onions and Beef Jus. Melt in your mouth texture is guaranteed here!Poke You $16.00- Truffled Salmon, flavoured Mix Rice, Pineapple cubes, Salad, Corn, Pumpkin seeds and Ebiko. Additional Cherry tomatos at $1.00 per portion. With all the hype with numerous poke bowl shops, Tada offers this menu item to cater to the working crowd and students in the vicinity. The truffle salmon was ingenious and delicious, I was abit confused with the pineapple cubes and lack of other substantial ingredients for a price tag of $16.Overall : Ta-Da is trying hard to offer gourmet delicacies at reasonable prices. Their Roasted Chicken and Pan-Fried Salmon are definitely worth coming for! I'll be back, and I was told they would be serving over the top milkshakes soon!! :) YAY!…

Halal-certified café restaurant Citrus By The Pool introduces more than 20 new dishes, drinks and desserts to its menu. Expect more side dishes, burgers, milkshakes and desserts. Started in 2013, Citrus By The Pool is a Halal-certified café restaurant, nestled at Woodlands Swimming Complex, that serves Western and Asian Fusion cuisine. It is a 10-minute walk or short drive from Woodlands or Marsiling MRT Stations. Seeing a lack of chillout places in North, the owner decided to bring the café experience to theresidential estates, offering accessibility, relaxing ambience and good food.Step into the retro-themed space decked with large windows and cosy lights hanging from exposed wooden beams. The restaurant seats up to 70 people indoors, suitable for large group/ family gatherings.Check out their new Mighty Milkshakes ($8.90 - $10.90), available in 6 flavours - Classic Vanilla, Double Chocolate, Strawberry Gem, Caramel Popcorn, Cookie Crush and Snickerhead. Depending on your appetite, you can choose to take on the massive drink on your own, or share it with a favourite buddy.I was pretty full from drinking the milkshake by itself, it's gotta be at least 2-3 scoops of ice cream alone! If you're a caramel popcorn lover such as myself, go for it and do not be afraid of it's looks. It's not as sweet as it looks. Actually, the sweetest amongst these 4 milkshakes was surprisingly, Strawberry Gem. Which would still serve as Big Hit for the kids, with the generous toppings of Gem icing biscuits.Bite into the Little Boss (single patty) $14.90/ BIG Boss (double patty) $17.90 (served with Cajun fries), the chef's specialty burger that defies conventional burgers by combining the best flavours of beef and mutton (BM) in one patty. The burger is about being bold and fearless in its flavours. Accompanied with crispy fried onions, sliced tomato, cucumber and crisp lettuce and purple cabbage slaw, smothered in the all-time favourite satay sauce on toasted charcoal bun, expect an explosion of flavours at the first bite. The idea of mixing beef and mutton together to form a juicy burger patty is a brilliant idea. It held the right amount of moisture in the patty.Look out for Shiok Burger $12.90 (served with Cajun fries), a crispy fried chicken version of Da Burger Bomb with a spicy kick. Savour the crispy deep fried chicken thigh, sliced tomato, crisp lettuce and sunny side egg, topped with spicy chilli crab sauce on toasted sesame seed bun. This is a burger that"ll make you go Shiok!Other new burgers include The Big Catch $12.90 (served with Cajun fries), a buttermilk-battered dory fillet, crispy fried onions, sliced tomato and crisp lettuce, topped with tartar sauce on toasted sesame seed bun.Dainty Trio $10.90 (Fried chicken patty) | $12.90 (BM patty), 3 sliders of your preferred patty, accompanied with crispy fried onions, sliced tomato, lettuce on toasted mini sesame seed buns. Customers can choose between BBQ or Teriyaki Sauce.Citrus By The Pool's signature chicken thigh cooked sous-vide to retain its tenderness and flavours, then pan-fried till the skin is crisp on the outside. Served with seasonal vegetables and homemade brown sauce. I recall the tenderness of Curry Chicken I had at Citrus Bistro at Sengkang and I was not disappointed here, the chicken meat was extremely tender. You could easily remove the meat from the bones with just a fork. Definitely a must-try at Citrus By The Pool.To end off your feast, try one of their Sundaes. Berry Magic is a sundae filled with strawberry ice cream and jam with fresh strawberries and topped with a biscuit roll. There were biscuit crumbs at the bottom of the jar, to add a crunchy bite to the dessert. The creamy coconut ice cream was a refreshing taste to clear my palate. I'm a huge fan of nata de coco jellies and this was filled with tons of it! Matcha cookie crumbs together with desiccated coconut and gula melaka syrup made this one sweet dessert.Overall : Citrus By The Pool is now a location that all foodies who enjoy good burgers should check out this hidden gem. I really enjoyed the nice, relaxing dining location. The burgers are relatively huge for a female appetite.…

Located at Pomo, and occupying units on the first and second floor is Montana. Famed for their freak cakes, and creative savoury and dessert waffles. This cafe has been intriguing my tastebuds since 2014!Check out their newly revamped menu, new items such as Truffle Eggs Rosti $19++, Signature mac & cheese waffle $15++ or Rosso $13++ a dessert made with chocolate brownie and irish whisky sauce are bound to make you curious!Fried Chicken Wings with Garlic Mirin Sauce $12++Fried crispy chicken drumlets and wings with a sweetness on the outside. Reminds me of a certain cafe up in Kovan that serves up really legendary honey parika wings.Truffle Eggs Rosti $19++Are you a truffle fan? Okay if your not that's fine too cause the truffle in this dish is rather subtle. I love my rosti from Marche so that's my standard for rosti, however the rosti here is very different. If you like crispy, rather than soggy McDonald fries, this is for you! Not to mention, 2 beautifully poached eggs with hollandaise sauce, served with parma ham.Signature mac & cheese waffle $15++I'm personally a huge fan of mac and cheese, after spending 5 years in the United States. Also, having been a faithful fan of Montana's signature Mac N Cheese back in the day when they occupied just the first floor. I was shocked to see huge improvement! Glorious mozzarella generous melted over the waffle with truffle oil, real macaroni and cheese embedded in the waffle batter and apparently jalapeno. The jalapeno isn't too spicy, and I'm non-spicy eater. Like I can't even tahan McDonald's chilli sauce, but the tinge of spiciness here was pleasantly savoury. Good job Montana!Baked Salmon with Poached Egg $18++The salmon was pretty good and I found myself digging for the shoyu mushrooms and herbed cous-cous to eat together with the salmon. I love this combination of ingredients. The yuzu hollandaise from the poached egg also gave the salmon fillet some flavour.Rosso $13++This is an alcoholic dessert that is meant for adults. The vanilla ice cream tasted generic but the chocolate brownie was sweet with a tad of bitterness from the dense chocolate flavour. The sourness from the macerated berries was a good balance for the sweet brownie. What blew my mind was the irish wisky sauce that literally brought this dessert to a whole new level!Bianco $13++While glancing through the menu, this dessert caught our attention. Horlicks cheesecake is what the menu read! No joke, the cheesecake base tasted of horlicks. The passionfruit mousse tasted authentically sour with a natural passionfruit aroma. This would be a nice dessert to go with coffee or if you're game for it, ask the staff for a wine-pairing recommendation.V60 Chocolate (Original Mint or Smoky Infusion) $6.80++The first of it's kind in Singapore, Cacao brew made with cacao nibs brewed in coconut water to give you a light, refreshing beverage that looks like tea. Honestly speaking, I could taste the "tea" but no "chocolate" flavour. Maybe my tongue is to trained to pick up artificial flavours that I can't determine the authentic flavour?8. Cold Crab Truffle Pasta $21++I've never had a good experience with cold angelhair pasta, the noodles are usually always too cold or too soft for my liking. But Montana got in on-point for my tastebuds! Flavourful, al-dente angel hair pasta with crunchy tobiko and chunks of crab meat. Definitely a refreshingly and yet savoury meal, for any time of the day. You will not feel "jerlat" or bloated from this pasta dish!Overall : Montana continually tries to improve their menu year after year and they always come up with enterprising new idea to arouse your tastebuds. But there's still some R&D to continue their standard of food. *PS never forget to try their cold brew coffee!~…

Long Jiang Chinos Situated in the heart of the north, Long Jiang Chinos lies within the quaint and serene ORTO in Yishun, formally Bottle Tree Park. Situated right beside the pond, Long Jiang Chinos brings exquisite and hearty seafood dishes in the surroundings of lush greenery.Established in 2014, the restaurant is an establishment by Long Jiang Culinary, which has years of experience in the culinary industry. As it is currently mid-autumn seasion, do check out their mooncakes available for sale in Takashimaya, NEX, Tampines Mall, Vivocity, Lot1 and Junction 8. Or just head down to Long Jiang Chinos at ORTO to enjoy some delightful Chinese cuisine with your mooncakes! This classic and timeless Teochew traditional mooncake is extremely crispy on the edges with melt in your mouth textured yam paste. These are some of the biggest Teochew mooncakes I’ve ever seen! The single yolk version gives the sweet yam a good mix of pleasure and premium taste. All these “orh nee” yam paste mooncakes are low in sugar. So you can savour without the fear of overdosing on calories from sugar. When visiting Long Jiang Chinos, be sure not to miss out on its most heart warming dish – Seafood Hotpot ($128). Curated specially by the chef with observance to the different preferences of a family, this dish was born to suit the likings of all ages within a family. Since then, the high raved Seafood Hotpot has since become a signature dish of the restaurant.Using only premium selection of fish, whole Soon Hock is simmered slowly under a bed of cabbage, ensuring that the fish will not be overcooked while you savour the soupy goodness of the hotpot. Consisting of an assortment of live prawns, clams and squid, these catch of the seas come together to make the ultimate hearty Seafood Hotpot. The chicken broth was so flavourful and really addictive and the broth is refillable! So don’t be afraid to drink up as much as you like!Long Jiang Chino’s Cheesy Crab Bee Hoon with Crab Roe ($44.80) is rich, yet not overpowering on the senses. Bee hoon is first specially prepared by the chefs. A homemade stock is reduced and slices of cheese are added. Speak about infusing oriental cuisine with the west! The dish is completed with two whole Indian mud crabs atop. Overturn the shell of the crab and generous, crab roe is unravelled. Start your meal right with these crispy and delicious Har Chou! Filled with generous ingredients and really freshly fried! One interesting thing to note about this dish here is, unlike most eateries that serve the fried fish skin with a salted egg sauce, that turns the skin soggy after awhile. At Long Jiang Chinos, they use real salted egg but fried up!…

Hailing from the Saitama prefecture of Japan is 60 year old Hibiki, one of the only outlets representing the Hibiki empire outside of Japan! Ask any Japanese living in Saitama, part of the Greater Tokyo region about Hibiki and they will be familiar with this yakitori legend. They have countless kiosks, selling yakitori at train stations and convenient areas, much like the Tori-Q seen in Singapore and serving dining delights at over 30 restaurants. Hibiki at Bukit Timah has recently been taken over by Irene who did a new makeover for the restaurant, leading it to a more purist Japanese direction, as Hibiki is deeply rooted in the culinary culture of the Japanese.Located along Bukit Timah Road, you could easily drive by this place and miss it, as it is sandwiched between a pizzeria and an Italian restaurant. It has it's own car park, but there's also coupon parking just parallel of it, along Anamalai Road, with free parking on sundays and PH. The menu is printed with English and Japanese, you can easily tell that this restaurant was catered towards the Japanese living in Singapore who miss their authentic Japanese food. Their charcoal grilled items are their signature offerings that require the art of barbecuing to perfection.1.Sake Shabu-shabu(2 person serving) The shabu-shabu broth at Hibiki is unique as sake is infused into the aromatic mixture. Served with assorted vegetable platter (White cabbage/Spinach/Shiitake Mushroom/Tofu/Carrot/Konyaku stripes/Japanese Leek)What do we love about Japanese hot pot? It's a fun communal dining experience, you get SO MUCH variety in your meat and vegetable offerings (think everything from wagyu beef and kurobuta pork to sweet cabbage and shiitake mushrooms), and it's a rather healthy, nutritious dish that doesn't pack in calories. Kurobuta belly and Kurobuta collar is served here and sweetens up the broth, with every slice. Home made sesame sauce for vegetable dips/Home made ponzu Sauce for Meat to dip with spring onion and spicy raddish smash. To pair up with the Shabu Shabu, we also had Tako Karage, Miso Caesar Salad, Vegetable Sticks and Tempura Moriawase. The sake flavour is subtle and evaporates so you will only imaginatively taste the sake in the soup, however, there is a lingering sake aroma if you give the soup a good whiff.4) Hibiki Yakitori 5 Stick Mixture pork and Chicken $22Hibiki's favorable 5 sticks of mixture Kurobuta and Kampong Chicken mixture sticks.Ingredients used in the yakitori includes Kurobuta Belly, Kurobuta Collar, Chicken Mid Wing, Homemade minced ball. Every item is carefully cooked to perfection on the charcoal grill, giving them a slightly charred flavour and texture.5) Hibiki Yakitori 5 Stick Japanese Vegetable $12Mixture of the Favourite 5 sticks vegetableMy personal favourites were the homemade minced ball, which were so tender and juicy, and also the grilled onions! I never expected grilled onions to taste so good, especially with the miso dip!6) Tako Karaage Deep fried special Marinated Octopus. I'm a huge fan of octopus, and this was my first time trying octopus marinated and deep fried in this manner. The outer layer was thick and crisp, giving you a nice crunch. On the inside, you have a sizeable octopus tentacle which has a fresh aroma of the octopus and the marinate. The octopus was well marinated as it was very tasty on it's own!9) Authentic Japanese Ice creamTenpien - Sea salt Ice cream serve with Sweet potatoes stripesHouji Cha - Roasted Tea Ice cream serve with sweet potatoes stripesYaki Imo Ice cream - Grilled Sweet potatoes Ice cream serve with sweet potatoes stripesHibiki's Home made Sweet Potatoes Cake and Sweet potatoes Stripes serve with Vanilla Ice CreamOverall : Would I come back? Yes! If you are local Singaporean and want to try some Sake infused shabu shabu, or if you are looking to try out some variants of different Sake, do give Hibiki a try! Even for Japanese living in Singapore, I'm quite sure you will be satisfied with the authenticity of the food quality and service at Hibiki.…

Oink Don $29.00++ *Highly Recommended*We highly recommend the Oink Don, if you're very hungry, craving for quality pork and love carbs! Starting from the top, take your pick on Deep Fried Pork Cutlet w/bone, Grilled Pork Chop, Roasted Pork Belly and Pull Pork Carnita. There's so much meat here, I think an entire piglet died for this main course! In all seriousness, the meat were very flavourful, juicy, not one molecule of the variety of meats here was dry. Add on the black pepper cream sauce and every item has a tinge of smooth and delicate peppery flavor.Check out the thick layer of pulled pork carnita covering the fluffy egg and Sambal Fried Rice w/ Black Pepper Cream and Bacon! The pulled pork is the most tender, most juicy pulled pork ever, definitely took alot of time to slow cook this to perfection! Yea Baby!Sea Don $35.00++ *Highly Recommended*This Sea Don comes with a spectacular sight of a Whole Lobster, King Salmon, Squid set above another "treasure", the Seafood Fried Rice w/ Garlic Butter Sauce, Prawns, Scallops, Octopus, Egg. I'll be very honest with you, the seafood fried rice is the best fried rice I have ever tasted. The rice itself has a distinct "wok-hei", and the rice absorbed all the sweetness from the variety of seafood cooked altogether. The crunchy prawns embedded in the rice also provide a nice bite in between the soft and pillowy rice.Enough about the rice? I could go on for days about the yummy seafood rice, but! The highlight of this dish, the Whole Lobster, showcases the high quality grade ingredients used at the Benjamins. The lobster has a sweet juice crunch and it's easily removed from the shell, a good sign of the meat being fresh. The salmon fillet is huge, it's actually longer than the bowl itself!Molten Lava Cheese Burger $25.00++Probably the next new hyper on social media is this Molten Lava Cheese Burger, served with a Choice of Fried Chicken Cutlet, Soft Shell Crabs, Beef. The soft shell crab here is also huge, I'm starting to realize that everything served here at The Benjamins is on the generous side! The cheese comes oozing on and it's great as a dipping sauce for the potato tater tots.Pizza Burger $28.00++ *Highly Recommended*Brand new on the menu is the Pizza Burger. The Benjamins takes pride in making their ingredients in-house, such as this Beef Patty, Pepperoni, served with a fusion of Black Olives, Grilled Artichoke, Spinach, Monterey Jack, Mild Cheddar. The minced beef patty has a good mix of meat, breadcrumbs, fats and seasoning making it extremely delicious and addictive. This meat patty looks to be approx 250grams.Overall : The Benjamin's continue to amaze our tastebuds and eyes with their innovative creations. Definitely try out the Sea Don, Oink Don and their smoothies, I'm quite confident you cannot find anything quite like these items in any other eatery in Singapore.…

Located on the 4th floor of Plaza Singapura with 11 stores islandwide, Nando’s is here, serving up Halal Grilled chicken choices along with a variety of sauces, like the 100 over year old Peri Peri sauce. The dining area is pretty huge and great for large groups. Nando’s also serves up a variety of family friendly food and desserts, so there’s something for everyone.I’m invited to Nando’s today to try out their new Mango & Lime flavour. In the history of Nando’s, this is the first time a new flavour has been introduced. So let’s see what makes it so special! There’s a platter for 4, which you can share the Mango & Lime chicken goodness with your friends and family. There’s also a burger or even a Espetada, dangling for all to see and devour!Mango & Lime Full Platter $44.90++Straight to business, we started off with the Mango & Lime Grilled Chicken Platter. Mango & Lime sauce is touted to be between the lemon & herb and mild flavoured sauces, so it’s the last stage of sauce before you get to the spicier Peri Peri! I was expecting some spiciness here but there was none. If anything, I felt that the lemon & herb had a stronger kick of spiciness! This Mango & Lime flavour is definitely child-friendly!The flavour of the mango & lime had a more distinctive mango than lime taste. There was a lingering mango aroma from each bite. The chicken as always at Nandos, was tender fresh and overflowing with juicy goodness but without the oil!Served with a choice of sides, we picked garlic bread and wedges. The garlic was so good! Evenly buttered and grilled to perfection! The wedges were crisp and well-seasoned.2. Tropical Fruitea $4.90++A tropical medley of mango and lime, infused with orange juice and iced lemon tea. This was a very refreshing drink though it got a bit concentrated at the bottom of the glass.3. Grilled Chicken Cataplana $18.90++Served in an authentic cooper dish with Peri-Peri chicken thighs, grilled seasonal vegetables, spicey rice and cataplana sauce. This is pretty much a portuguese chicken rice that is very colourful and flavourful. The chicken thigh pieces tasted slightly dry but the rice was very tasty and moist. The rice texture was almost towards the mushy side, but still palatable for me. The charred vegetables were the highlight of this dish!Mushrooms, carrots, capsicum and more! I pierced each slice of vegetable with my fork and I thoroughly enjoyed them. This dish was served with the Mild sauce and this is the spiciest level that I can tahan. Any higher, and it would be a torture for me.4. Mango & Lime Espetada $19.90++ (1 side) / $21.90++ (2 sides)Skewered tender marinated chicken thighs and fresh peppers with a Mango & Lime twist. Beautifully presented. The chicken was flavourful with a tinge of spiciness. If you are having difficulty picking a side, choose the Corn-on-the-Cob! It is buttered so generously, it is overflowing with juices as you nibble onto the corn! It’s so good! I would actually come back to Nando’s for this. 5. Peri-Peri Soup $5.90++ add $2 for chickenVery authentic and legit mushroom soup with visible mushroom pieces and they are extremely generous with the chicken. You definitely get your $2 worth! The bread here is the same garlic bread you get as a side and it goes excellently with the soup!6. Chicken Livers & Portuguese Roll $5.90++The menu description writes“You haven’t lived until you’ve tried these. On your own or for 2 people to share.”Eh, I’m not a fan of pork liver and I probably am also not a fan of chicken liver. I’ll just leave it as that, however my dining partners did enjoy this quite a bit.7. Tangy Lemon Tart $5.90++On top of just really awesome Chicken, Nando’s also serves desserts such as Tangy Lemon Tart, bottomless froyo and even rainbow cakes! This tangy lemon tart is quite a pretty one, and decent sized enough to be shared. There’s a subtle and pleasant sweetness naturally sweetened with honey and lemon that will guarantee satisfaction to the sweet tooth!8. Pear-fect Tart $5.90++My favourite dessert of the night, this pear-fect tart is served with sliced of pear between a caramelized layer. The tart layer has a nice level of sweetness and doesn’t get too overpowering. The flavour of the pear could be tasted in every mouthful.9. Natas $1.90++ (Portuguese custard tart)The danish-like pie crust was slightly flaky and crisp, a great texture with a distinct buttery fragrance. The custard was good, but not fantastic. A good choice of a sweet ending to a heavy meal at Nando’s.Overall : Nando’s is one of those restaurants I’ve seen over the years that doesn’t change it’s menu too often, but when they do, it’s a subtle and yet impactful improvement. This mango & lime flavour gives us non-spicy eaters another flavour to choose from, other than just plain and lemon & herb. The chicken will never fail to meet your expectation of juicy and succulent meats.…

Located on Robertson Quay, within M Social Hotel is Beast & Butterflies. This is a dining experience like no other. Loaded with visual dramas composed of chandeliers, lava lamps, video projections, table-top TV screens and even a wall lined with 40 tablets. A meld of Asian and Western influences, creating a new blend of borderless cuisine.Crispy Spinach $10.00++These crispy spinach leaves are so addictive. Imagine this to be a plate of potato chips in the shape of spinach leaves. I lost count on the number of leaves I had grabbed. They are so crisp and thin, there's a satisfying crunch in every bite! It's not overly seasoned or salty, but yet flavourful in every crunch!2. Oyster Shots $10.00++ (A pair)These Thai infused shooters are guaranteed to whet your appetite. Seafood especially oysters is very sensitive to freshness; if it isn't fresh, you're probably going to get a stomachache, or worse. But the ones at Beast & Butterflies were fresh with Thai goodness!3. Spam Fries $10.00 ++ *highly recommended*Definitely a crowd pleases, these spam fries are dry to the bone but yet filled with all the spam aroma and taste! Served with Beast & Butterflies very own home-made Basil Cheese Dip. This is extremely good. No joke, I'll be back for more of this!4. Duck Crispies $15.00++Deep fried Duck Rillette Wantons, Pickled cucumbers. Crispy all around and moist in the center where the meat is. Well dressed and full of duck meaty juices.5. Treasure Pot (Pen Cai) $68++ *Takeaway $84At the heart of every lunar new year feast is a pen cai filled with luxurious ingredients to help your family bond over good food! This auspicious dish is filled to the brim with layers of luscious and exquisite ingredients and delicacies such as seafood and meat. This pen cai would suit most palates as it has a umami flavour that will awake your senses the moment it touches you palate. It is not too salty either, it carries the mushroom goodness from the juices to the other ingredients.6. Ham Hock (Full) $35.00++ *highly recommended*Ham hocks are generally tough but flavorful cuts of meat because they contain muscle and tendon as well as a fair amount of fat, which means they need to be cooked fairly slowly at a lower temperature to make the meat tender. Here, the Ham Hock is served with Asian Sauerkraut and Nam Jim Sauce. The skin is crispy brittle to the point that it is biscuit dry! However, beneath this extremely crispy layer, is the tender and moist layers of juicy pork meat. It is a tough job to achieve both crispy exterior and moist layers on the inside. I loved the juices from the pork fat, it was so good and umami! Definitely give this a try!7. Wok Fried White Clams $15.00 ++ abt On first look, I thought that this was a blazing hot and spicy dish and I was a tad sad, as I'm a weakling when it comes to spicy food. But fret not! It's lemon grass spices, there to spruce up the flavour of these white clams!8. Wooly Pork $35.00++Grilled Mangalica Pork Collar with scallion brown rice galette, kimchi cucumber and bulgogi sauce. One of the juiciest and tender pork meat I've eaten, though a proportion of this meat is pure fat, sinful but still damn SHIOK! This slab of pork meat has clear lines of marbling!9. Strawberry Basil $10.00 ++The basil ice cream was very refreshing and yet creamy. Definitely something to try, rather than your common ice cream flavours. I liked the combination of fruits and ice cream, but the butter cake, strangely tasted like bread.11. Matcha Lava $10.00++- Warm Green Tea Cake, Matcha Ganache, Azuki Red BeansAlright, I'll admit, I'm a matcha fan. I go absolutely crazy when I see a matcha lava cake, but I'll be honest and share that it took some effort to make this lava cake "flow". It's not easy making something look good and taste good. So even if it doesn't flow, it's still not going to affect my perception of this chef's platted dessert. However, the matcha lava cake lacked the earthy characteristic and had a strong lingering sweetness. Overly sweet in my opinion. The ice cream helped balanced out the sweetness in this dessert.13. Beef IchiranThis beef ichiran is set to get you drooling over the tender colouration of the premium grade meat. It carries a sweet fragrance along with the juices from the fats and meats, this is another highly recommended dish to try at Beast & Butterflies. I am so coming back for more! Chef Bryce sure knows how to choose his meats, marinate them and send them to happy tummies of customersDon't forget to order one of these unique cocktails at Beast & Butterflies to complete your dining experience!Overall : Beast & Butterflies has a very interesting concept going on, both on the food, service as well as the decor. A lot of effort has been placed in every corner of Beast & Butterflies. Everything was so worth the calories. Especially the Ham Hock, Beef Ichiran, spam fries and even the pen cai!…

Located in the quiet area of Sembawang is Orchid Live Seafood, popular with Chinese families who flock here for their lobster cravings. The car park is free but it is limited to 20 or so cars, most cars back in and block each other, hence the restaurant staff would run in and out calling out car number plates to kindly ask the customers to move their cars.1. Batin Fish 40It was my family's first time trying this dish, it has a very smooth texture that almost melts in your mouth, the black sauce itself wasn't too heavy in salt or msg, so I didn't really feel thirsty which was nice.2. Fried Vegetables $15Apparently the vegetables served here are grown just behind Orchid Live Seafood. Hurray for using local and fresh produce. But I'll be honest, the vegetable leaves did have some black marks on them. No holes at least! The vegetables tasted alright, nothing to wow about. Just enough to make you feel good about your diet.3. Steven's Chicken $24Named after the chef Steven, this is basically fried chicken, fried so hard core that the bone is brittle when you bite on it! The crispiness of the chicken skin is addictive and we wiped out this dish in seconds! I needed another serving of this!4. Lobster Porridge $100/KGThis is what we came here for! Lobster tasted alright, although I know these aren't fresh lobsters, in comparison to what I had in Boston, it's still "fresh" enough to satisfy my cravings. The meat comes right off the shell! The porridge was also so flavourful and good, that I lost count of the number of bowls of porridge I had!Overall : Decent chinese family dining location, $40/pax.HUGE TIP! Definitely sit outside, do not fear the mosquitoes for the indoor dining area, with the air-con is so deceptive as the air con are so weak! You would think that since Orchid Live Seafood is filled to the brim everyday, they would at least be able to repair the air con or at least get more powerful ones. There's like 6 window AC units in that small area of about 7 tables and it's useless! Which is why everyone just orders the $1 per stick of Potong red bean ice cream after their meal!…

Located in Ang Mo Kio, right next to Courts, near the Public Library is Chops Grill and Sides. Recently moved from Yishun, the young owners are really energetic in serving quality food in huge portions, to fill up some healthy protein calories! One glance at the menu and you can see that the prices are reasonable with a wide variety of food options.Mains like Grilled Cajun Chicken Chicken Breast Schnitzel Fried Breaded Fish Grilled Miso Pork LoinJust to name a few are $7.90 and comes with 2 hot sides / cold salads. There's also 7 types of pasta such as Carbonara with Poached Egg $6.90 Seafood Cream Pasta $6.90 Chicken & Bacon Marinara $6.90 Seafood Marinara $6.90The food spread here is simply scrumptious and any meat lover however broke you are, would definitely still able to dine here!First up! The Chops! XXL Platter (Feed 6-8pax) $59.90 Served with the following :- Grilled Cajun Chicken- Fried Breaded Fish- Grilled Garlic Pork Collar- Panfry Norwegian Salmon *My Favourite*- Australian Grain Fed Ribeye Steak- Spice BBQ Babyback Ribs (half rack) *My Favourite*Look at that variation of browness of the skin! I knew at first sight, it was love and also a very crispy salmon skin! The salmon meat itself tasted fresh and pretty much melted in my mouth.Next up, the highlight was the ribs. I was just at Morganfield's the day before and oh boy! These are the next best thing and not to mention, it's in my hood. Definitely coming back for more. Why? Because it was tender, who needs a knife actually? A fork is more than sufficient to gently rub the tender meat off the bones. It left a lingering sweetness, very characteristic of the BBQ sauce. All the other meats tasted good. No complaints whatsoever, other than having to get the steak put back on the grill for a bit. But check out the serving portions in relation to a hand. Yes I know from this angle, anyone would suffer from parallax error but still. Chops definitely serves the hungry with a passion!Served with 10 hot sides / cold salads, consisting of - Cherry Tomatoes- Potato and Egg Salad- Tuna Salad- Romaine Lettuce- Coleslaw- Garlic Fried Rice- Mash Potato- Shoestring Fries- Aglio Olio- Mac & Cheese *My Favourite*So much sides! 6 different carbs to choose from and 4 veggies. This is a food pyramid that HPB wouldn't smile about, but hey! It's an inverted food pyramid!I was really in love with the Mac & Cheese, they use nacho cheese in the sauce to give it an distinct sweetness with every macaroni. The garlic fried rice was very fragrant and flavourful despite it's simple appearance.Overall : For $59.90, and with 20-30 minutes time of waiting, DEFINITELY worth waiting, and it's in Ang Mo Kio, so North folks REJOICE! Other this is only 10 minutes walk from AMK MRT and still decent quality meats and sides for everyone! My verdict : AWESOME food and CHEAP prices with a couple of young good-looking owners who are really into serving great food!…

Gills N Shells is open 7 days a week from 3pm to 1pm and located at Hotel Boss – facing the newly transformed Rochor Canal. It has a rather roomy dining area, that is sheltered with air conditioning blasting to provide you with a comfy experience. You can locate Gills N Shells, by first locating Char-Grill which is directly opposite. The menu here ranges from western style food like Mozzarella Cheese Sticks ($10.90) to Asian inspired Spicy Buffalo Frog Legs ($16.90). There’s also on-going late lunch set meal and happy hour promotions. Gills N Shells boast an exciting blend of oriental and western flavours throughout their menu.1.BeergaritaA mix of Corona and lime atop a giant glass of Tequila. It sure is pretty and great for chasing away your monday blues. Happy Hour timing at Gills N Shells is from 3pm-8pm, going from $9 Nett for their full pint beers.2. 1/2 Dozen Baked Oysters $25.90– Choice of Bacon Cheese Herbs Tomato Sauce or Chef’s Specialty SauceI really enjoyed the baked cheese, bacon and herbs on the oysters. It created a crusty exterior with a cheesey, gooey texture on the inside, which added lots of flavour to the oyster.3. Spicy Buffalo Fog LegsThese frog legs are sourced from Vietnam, whereby the frogs are bigger than those farmed in Singapore. They are also pretty meaty. The frog legs were succulent and juicy. The spiciness was closer towards the sweet side and I really enjoyed the lingering sweetness.4. Clams & Mussels– Spicy White Wine Clear Broth with Herbs, Garlic Onions & Chilli or Smokey Herb Tomato Garlic Sauce. Served with Focaccia Toast. The clams and mussels here are sourced from Myanmar. The toast here is made from scratch and sure tasted so. It was crisp on the edges and not too buttery. It added a nice crunch to this dish. The broth was flavourful and yet not too salty. Definitely a great option to start off your meal with!5. Maine Lobster $28.90 – Grilled with Spicy Herb Garlic Butter & served with fresh garden greens. The fact that this Lobster travelled so far from Boston, shows Gills N Shell’s passion in delighting your palate with the taste of their ocean-inspired dishes. The lobster meat tasted okay, I wouldn’t say it tasted as good as the ones I had in Boston, but let’s be realistic, we’re 10,000 miles away from Boston. With the ambiance of Gills N Shells, this lobster is so much more enjoyable. Not to mention, the fries that weren’t too salty!6. Truffled Infused Cod $24.90– Chef’s Special Creation. Succulent cod pan-fried, baked and topped with braised preserved radish.Seeing radish on a pan-fried cod, definitely not a common sight, or combination anywhere. Quality here definitely compensates quantity. The fish was fresh and tasted better than expected. Even though I’m not a fan of radish, it provides an earthly flavour that I was savouring bit by bit. It was good! Definitely worth another visit for this dish!7. Hae-Bee-Hiam Pasta with Soft Shell Crab $18.90This pasta is not for the faint hearted. The noodles were harder in texture with an extra factor, Hae-Bee-Hiam! The noodles were evenly tossed to provide each mouthful, a flavourful and aromatic experience. The soft shell crab was sizeable but a tad too salty for my liking. A downside of this dish, it was too oily for my liking and too spicy. For majority of spicy-food lovers, this would probably be a BIG hit for you. Nevertheless, substantial portion and a flavourful note was definitely worth the indulgence.8. Grilled Tiger Prawn with Salted Egg Pasta $18.90Served with numerous tiger prawns along with an assortment of spices and salted egg, the pasta was able to retain it’s chewiness along with the flavours from the various ingredients. This Asian fusion dish had the right ratio of noodles to ingredients that carried off a tinge of spice and shiok salted egg buttery aftertaste. The combination of salted egg, spices and prawns was a wining factor and pleasant sensation to my taste buds.9. Salmon Burger $17.90Served with Housemade teriyaki sauce, this huge serving of salmon is sure to satisfy your salmon cravings. The end result of pan frying this salmon, crispy, thin salmon skin along with tender, melt in your mouth salmon. The flavour from the housemade teriyaki sauce provides a savoury umami flavour to the burger. The burger buns are also said to be made in-house from scratch.10. Roasted Stuffed Chicken $18.90– Stuffed chicken leg roasted with fresh herbs and cream cheese.Glistering brown chicken leg skin is what made this dish look so irresistible. Elsewhere, the flavour of the chicken was missing, along with the stuffing?11. Gills N Shells Tiramisu Jar $10.90Served in a rather tall jar for it’s serving size is Gills N Shells home made Tiramisu. Melts in your mouth instantly and it is so smooth and creamy. If you close your eyes, I bet one would think that this is Tiramisu ice cream! Not a bad way to end your meal by the Rochor River.View full blog post on : https://cptslowyeo.wordpress.com/2016/10/25/gills-n-shells/…

Blog post : https://cptslowyeo.wordpress.com/2016/10/23/brownice-italian-vegan-ice-cream/Brownice Ice Cream is the first dessert place in Singapore to serve low-calorie, low-GI, low-fat, vegan-friendly and dairy-free ice cream made from organic brown rice. Guilt-free ice cream at it's best. Even though it's dairy-free, you should note that the ice cream does not taste icy at all, though it also lacks the creamy taste, Brownice ice cream still holds the smooth textures. The 4 scoops of ice cream we picked were :CoconutHazelnutMatchaPeanut ButterIt might sound like alot of flavours, but they all went well together. First off, if this is your first visit to Brownice, definitely go for the coconut! There's real coconut fruit embedded in the ice cream! It is slightly creamy, with authentic coconut taste and sweetness. It goes really well with the chocolate syrup topping. The matcha wasn't too bitter, and the sweetness level was just right for me. I don't like matcha ice creams that taste too sweet or artificial. Over here, the matcha was closer to the grainy texture, as unlike the coconut, the matcha wasn't able to have a smooth aftertaste. Nevertheless, probably the best guilt-free and vegan matcha you can taste in Singapore! The peanut butter was too sweet for my liking, but you could taste real peanut butter embedded into the ice cream. Think of chunky monkey from ben and jerrys. Lots of peanuts too, that adds a crunchy bite in every scoop! The hazelnut was almost like eating nutella ice cream! It was a tad sweet, and I probably wouldn't finish a whole scoop by myself, but give me a scoop of coconut or matcha, and it will magically disappear with a spoon in my hand. The waffle here is of a crispy consistency. I would say, this is one of my most favourite waffle places in Singapore. Despite the waffle not having any fragrance or aroma. The light, airy and yet biscuit like edges makes this waffle so addictive.Overall : A great place to get vegan ice cream, even if you're not a vegan, or trying to stay on a healthy diet. The ice creams here are great, and so are their waffles. There's free wifi too! Definitely download the Entertainer App before heading down to Brownice!…

1. Half Slab of Fiery Pork Ribs $30++ Shiny with the barbecued glaze sauce, this pork rib was set out to brighten any meat lovers day! The meat was so tender, though it wasn't quite "fall of the bone", you could just fork the meat right off the bone. The meat had a slight smoky, charred flavour on the edges. On the the inside, the meat was flavourful, even without the sauce. The wedges were a great choice of carbs for this meal and were a bit crisp on the edges. The coleslaw was more of a giant clump of onions in salad sauce, skip that.2. BBQ Chicken Parma $24++ **HIGHLY RECOMMENDED**Pan-fried panko crusted chicken breast topped with melted mozzarella, grilled bacon, smokey BBQ sauce and caramelized onions. Served with salad greens and with french fries or wedges. For this price, you're getting so much meat, I couldn't believe it. This portion was made for 2 pax, not 1. The bacon was so crip on the top, together with the melted mozzarella, I knew I had to say goodbye to my diet plans. The chicken itself was tender, it wasn't dry at all, but I wouldn't say it's juicy either, since it's chicken breast meat. But together with the flavours combined by the cheese, bacon and especially the caramelized onions, the chicken was bursting with flavours. I felt that the caramelized onions were a great addition to the dish, it really gave this dish the "WOW" factor taste. I would highly recommend you to try this!3. Dallas Fajitas $28++You get a choice of tender grain-fed ribeye, chicken or vegetarian with guacomole, sour cream, salsa, caramelized onions and warm flour tortillas. The chicken was thick, tender and succulent. The presentation of the dish was rather appealing with the tri-coloured sauces on the right and the the tortillas served separated in a dim sum basket.Wrapping up tortillas can be quite fun too! The fluffy flour tortilla provided a soft texture to the chicken chunks and the sauces were there to complement the chicken. The dryness might kick in gradually, so do use up the sauces.4. Classic Fish and Chips $26++Snapper fillet dipper in batter and fried to golden brown. Red cabbage slaw, tartar sauce and Dallas fries. The edges of the fish stayed crispy throughout our entire meal!! It never turned soggy. The fish meat was so tender and fresh, it didn't taste or smell fishy. The provided tartar was perfect, not too oily, buttery and not too salty either. This was probably one of my most favourite fish and chip dishes. I usually don't pick a fish and chips dish, as I find it too "Common", with no "WOW" factor, but this is not your typical fish and chips!5. Dallas Wings $16++My friends were telling me so much about these wings, and though Entertainer does not give you any discounts on the appetizers. You would be missing out, if you didn't order these little nibblers. The skin on these wings were roasted to perfection. They're extremely crispy, not oily and with the ranch dressing, totally irresistible!I would've gotten two servings of these wings as my main if I could!6. Homemade Apple Pie $12++This picture doesn't do it any justice. This was huge! The apple chips were so juicy and overflowing with apple goodness. The caramel sauce wasn't too sweet and you could actually see the vanilla beans in the vanilla ice cream. Hurray! For legit vanilla ice cream! For those who hate the smell or taste of cinnamon, fret not! The cinnamon flavour here isn't as distinctive as you would expect in a apple pie. Overall, a perfect dessert to end ANY meal.…

In association with Japan Travel, The Soup Spoon, and Souper Chef Anna have come up with a variety of Japanese inspired soups from the Chubu region of Japan. Chubu is the central region of Japan's Honshu island and home to the iconic Mount Fuji.1. Guizoni X Jibuni Kanazawa StyleIngredients : Marinated chicken thigh, mountain yam, carrots, white radish, shiitake mushroom, Chinese cabbage, koya tofu (dehydrated tofu), bamboo shoots, tau kwa, snow peas, burdock, horseradish, leek, soy sauce, gluten. The flavour of the tender chicken thigh could be tasted in every spoonful. The umami flavour of this soup could also be tasted in sizeable chunks of tau kwas. Coupled with an earthly flavour from the white radish, shiitake mushrooms that added flavour and visuals to the dish that was so loaded with umami-ness, especially from the generous heap of mountain yam.Elsewhere, the tofu provided an smooth bite to the soup's ingredients. Somehow or rather, it reminded me of a chicken stew, my mum used to cook. Lastly, the seaweed, my greatest weakness was so flavourful and I wish I could've gotten more to add to my soup!2. Kenchinjiru (Japanese Zen Vegetable Nabe)Ingredients : Chinese cabbage, konnyaku jelly, mountain yam, bamboo shoots, winter melon, white radish, carrots, lotus roots, shiitake mushroom, tau kwa, pumpkin, miso, kombu, gluten, yuba, snow peas, soy milk, sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger. This was my favourite amongst all 3 soups. Without any meat, the soup was full of flavour and I couldn't get enough of it. I couldn't distinctively taste any one ingredient, but the combination of all the ingredients made this soup extremely fragrant and there was a natural lingering sweetness. A regular sized bowl of this soup comes with 29 g of protein with only 225 calories. Even your gym trainer would approve with this high amount of protein!3. Crab Miso Cheese ChowderIngredients : Crab meat, cauliflower, onions, garlic, miso, cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, cream, milk, dashi, butter, lemon juice, leek, penne pasta, potatoes. This was a very creamy soup, lactose intolerant beware! There was a slight spicy intensity that built up with every sip. This soup was a bit too gerlat for me, as I prefer lighter viscosity of soup. Nevertheless, Soup Spoon was very generous with quality ingredients in this soup.…

Hana Japanese Restaurant is located on the ground floor of Forum, The Shopping Mall. They have gone through a revamp just two week ago and are now ready to serve customers Japanese food, with a modern and local twist. The owner Deborah, shared about passion she has for Japanese food in a comfortable and cosy setting where young families and couples could grab a bite and enjoy the taste and look of the food. Having said that, their desserts are also spectacular, especially since Hana and Benjamin Browns are owned by the same people, famous for their over the top milkshake, do give Hana's dessert selection a try! 1. Sushi Box 3×3 Grid $28++Instead of ordering all your sushi via ala carte mode, try ordering the grid boxes. This way you get to try a bit of 9 varied items. From cooked food, like fried tempura, octopus to sashimi to truffle chawanmushi was by the way is probably the best chawanmushi I've ever had. It melts in your mouth and the truffle flavour is distinctive yet not overpowering.2. Sushi TacoI've never had sushi in a taco before and this was an ingenious idea! With a crispy taco shell, you can choose between lobster, japanese egg mayo, prawn, and soft shell crab, all topped generously with tobiko.Lobster $15++ *highly recommend*On one side of the taco shell you will spot a golden slice of cheese, melted to the taco. At the bottom of the taco, you have some leafy greens, and sushi rice. The main star here is the lobster salad. What I adore the most, was how fresh the lobster was along with the crunchy tobiko. This was most probably the most guily-free taco I've ever eaten! The colour of the tobiko, lobster salad and greens added an appealing visual and pleasant satisfying crunch! For $15++, you will get TWO of these. It's a great deal to be honest, for the quality of food you're getting here. I would be heading there for lunch daily, if I worked in the Orchard region.Soft Shell Crab $15++Another Taco that I tried was the soft shell crab, the soft shell crab had a nice meaty flavour. It was slightly crisp golden brown on the exterior and lying beneath this golden layer is fresh crab meat. Flavour wise, the soft shell crab went well with the slice of torched cheese, sushi rice and tobiko. Definitely give this a try if you're a soft shell crab fan!3. Pitan Maki $18++ *Highly Recommended*When Deborah pointed behind me to tell me they were serving us pitan (century egg) maki, I was like, "Get outta here!". Mother of all Fusion Foods! This was it. This was the clear winner of the night for me. The century egg puree has a tinge of sweetness along with it's characteristic century egg flavour. It was flavourful and yet refreshing at the same time. I definitely appreciated the effort taken to plate this dish.4. Soft Shell Crab Maki $16++Another very interesting fusion sushi is this soft shell crab sushi served with a chili crab dip. You can see chunks of crab meat in the bright red sauce that brought about a sweet aroma. The chili crab sauce wasn't too spicy and I was say, it's kid friendly! The maki itself tasted great and tasted even better the chilli crab sauce.5. Flying Truffle Somen $20++ *Highly Recommended*Flying Noodles! This is the first time I've seen it in a restaurant in Singapore, so kudos to Hana for executing this menu item. The Somen is suspended in the air, looking like it's levitating by some divine intervention. But in actual fact, those noodles are really, al dente somen noodles garnished with little shrimps that provides the noodles a salty flavour, along with ikura. The dipping sauce provided is so addictive. I would double dip my noodles into the bowl of sauce! It had a tinge of sweetness and also a savoury aftertaste. This was my personal favourite amongst all the 3 flying noodle dishes.6. Flying Salted Egg Udon $18++Flying udon, this time served with salted egg sauce. The salted egg sauce was smooth with a shiok and fiery factor of salted egg along with some chili slices that was not too overwhelming.7. Flying Cha Soba with Spam Soba Sushi $16++I've never really been a fan of soba noodles but now that it's a Flying Soba noodle dish, I had to try it! Served with spam cha soba sushi, I must really take my hat off to the Hana team for this innovative sushi. Instead of rice, cha soba is used and since soba is rather bland on it's own. The spam sushi give the sushi an overall taste. Who would've thought that soba and spam would go well together. 8. Truffle Beef Fried Rice $18++The presentation of this dish was very interesting. The tempura flakes are in the glass bottle that is "feeding" into the rice. The truffle flavour and aroma could be tasted in the rice and with the added crunch from the tempura flakes, it was delicious. The beef however was a tad too tough for my liking. Even at Benjamin Browns, when I ordered a Sizzling Beef Chunk, I felt that the beef was too tough for my liking. Other than that, a very tasty rice dish.Overall : Hana has definitely gone miles to intrigue patrons tastebuds. Be it, an office lunch, after office hours chill out, or a family meal after spending the weekend at Toy’R us. There’s so many choices of Japanese food at Hana to cater to everyone!Restaurant InfoName : Hana RestaurantAddress : 583 Orchard Road, #01-17 Forum The Shopping Mall, Forum The Shopping Contact : 6737 5525Hours : 11:30am – 10pm Daily…
