Trational Steamboat in a copper pot!
Tong Xin Ru Yi Traditional Hot Pot
2013-08-16
Ru Yi Traditional Steamboat is a new restaurant in Boat Quay. They used the traditional Chinese copper pot. My friend has dine there for many times and she recommended this place to me.That day, I tried their Yuanyang Hotpot. The Yuanyang Hotpot contains of spicy soup and mutton soup. Both of the soup bases are fresh and yummy. We also tried the special of the day, eel slice. The slice is so tasty and it goes so well with the spicy soup. Our favorite dish of the day is the lamp slice and the beef slice. The meat are so fresh and we keep having more and more. This restaurant is new and the service is good. Most importantly, their ingredients are so fresh. I recommend this place to you! …Read More

Nice & Sweet
Ji De Chi Dessert
2013-08-16
Sweet in heart snowy ice - milk flavor:This must be one of the best snowy ice that I've tried. The ice is so snowy and soft. It melts in your mouth once you put it in your mouth. For the toppings, we had red bean, mini rice ball, and nata-de-coco. The sugar level is just right. The whole dessert is so tasty.Durian Sawdust Pudding:This is a sawdust pudding and there is some durian paste on the side. This dish is soft and nothing too special.Nyonya Rice Dumpling:The dumpling is sweet and salty at the same time. As a Cantonese who prefer Cantonese style rice dumpling, I really could not appreciate this dish.Durian Baked Puff Rolls:This puff rolls looks good and was supposed to look good. But because it is overcooked, it tasted a little burnt.Bean Curd w Rose:This is a freebie comes with all the food we ordered. It is just a pink bean curd I think, nothing to do with the rose. The snowy ice is the best. As for other desserts, try if you want, but I will not recommend.…Read More

Prime Lunch
The Prime Society
2013-08-16
I was attracted by the decoration of this restaurant. Plus, this restaurant has good reviews on the internet, so my friend and I decided to give this restaurant a try.We reserve a table for two in advance. When we arrived, we found that the restaurant is almost empty. The restaurant might have more people during dinner. Rib Eye steak:I order a medium rare rib eye steak. It is serve with a drop of potato mash, a garlic and some vegetable leave. The meat taste great. But since they did not cook the steak with any sauce, the only flavor I got was the meat taste.Barbeque Ribs:The ribs taste nice, and the barbeque sauce is awesome as well. But the ribs is a little bit of too fat and greasy that it was so difficult for us to finish this dish.Cheese Cake:A cheese cake for dessert! The cheese cake is especially yummy! I like the fresh mulberry and the cookies at the bottom. This is the best dish that day. This restaurant has a great dining environment and it is a little pricy. The food still needs to be improved. …Read More

From Gogo Curry to monster curry
Monster Curry
2013-08-15
Before monster curry, it was called Gogo Curry. And I was a big fan of Gogo curry. Now the name is changed, is the food quality changed too? Let's find out!My friend and I chose the super curry. It would be suitable for us two. When waiting for the curry to be served, I start to read their all new menu. The food has more variety now, Back then at Gogo Curry, they serve only few kinds of curry and size. Now the curry is served! Still, it is as impressive as the Gogo curry, huge! Our curry has shrimp, pork fish and the beef shabu shabu . There is also a small amount of cheese and cabbages by the side. The amount of the curry seems suitable. And so, we start eating eating and lastly finished the whole plate. The sides are tasty, the rice is well done, the curry are thick and yummy. I enjoyed sharing this big portion of curry with my friend. As far as I am concerned, The Monster curry is just as good as the Gogo curry, and even better!…Read More

Fish & co review
Fish & Co.
2013-08-15
I've seen so many fish & co branches, and all the long queue outside the restaurant. This restaurant must serve great food, I think, So, on a weekday night, I took my friend with me to give this place a try.We ordered a Fethers & Fina Platter. We also order some scallope as side dish. The seafood platter is combined with Grilled array of Peri-Peri prawns, Moroccan flavour fish fillet, blue mussels in garlic lemon butter sauce and Peri-Peri chicken, all served with mashed potato and paella rice. And the scallops were served seperately in a smaller platter. We actually found the food a bit of disappointing. The seafood is not fresh and is a little bitter. The only good tasted food is the chicken cutlet.…Read More

After died together with garlic, this dish become perfect. after finishing one plate of garlic shrimp, we couldn't help to order another plate,Seafood pasta:This seafood pasta is so yummy. You can tell its deliciousness easily from the picture. The pasta is cooked with big prawn and oyster. With the thick tomato base, the pasta taste super incredible.Lamp shoulder:The lamp shoulder is so juicy and tender. We enjoyed it a lot!One small drink for the night. When we were enjoying our food, we saw the firework across from the river. It was for the National Day rehearsal. The place is a little bit of expensive. But for its high food quality and its great environment and atmosphere, it is definitely worth trying! …Read More

Another day of Army Stew
Seoul Yummy
2013-08-15
Army Stew is my favorite dish at Seoul yummy and I have tried it in all the brunches, including the closed one in Suntec City. Today, I went to Seoul yummy again to fulfill my crave for the stew. This time, we selected the Army Stew with Assorted meat. Inside the stew, we have kimchi, tofu, pork, beef, chicken ham, instant noodles, rice cake and all kinds of vegetables... The stew contained so many ingredients that I couldn't name it one by one. I enjoy its hotness and variety. I love its noodles and soup especially. This stew is meant to serve two people, but the portion is so big that I think it could fill 3 people at least! After the hotness of the Army Stew, we ordered an ice cream to cool down. This yogurt ice cream is filled with all kinds of delicious fruits, jam and jelly. It is super yummy! This ice cream is only available in this branch and that's why square 2 is my favorite branch.…Read More

Delicious as always
Seoul Yummy
2013-08-15
My friend and I are the super fan of Seoul Yummy. We've tried their Army's Stew for many times and absolutely love it. This time, we decided to try something different.Ginseng Chicken:I enjoyed the soup a lot. It has a strong traditional herbal flavor and the soup is a bit creamy. But I don't really like the glutinous rice side the half chicken. The chicken soup comes with a bowl of brown rice. You can choose white rice if you want, but I think brown rice is a healthier choice.Grilled Saba Fish:The Saba fish is fantastic! It is juicy and tender. The sweet black sauce make the fish so flavorful!Hot plate beef:The beef is juicy as well. Very tasty.Spicy rice cake:Normal rice cake that you could have in any of the Korean restaurants.Kimchi Fried rice:My friend enjoyed this fried rice a lot. …Read More

As great as usual
Boon Tong Kee
2013-08-15
Boon Tong Kee is always one of my favorite restaurant. Maybe because of its tasty food, maybe because of its fare price or maybe because of its Cantonese style. My boyfriend and I ordered a half chicken and was finished by two of us. The chicken is juicy and tender as usual. We also ordered a plate of some vegetables that I forgot the name. Tasty too. Our favorite dish of the day is the crispy tofu. It is so crispy and suits perfectly with the salad sauce. We are just going to keep coming back.…Read More

Bistro and chocolate at the same time
Awfully Chocolate
2013-08-15
Pass by this bistro for many times but never had the chance to dine in. It was Chinese Valentine's day this Tuesday, so I decided to visit this chocolate bistro for a romantic dinner.Soup of the day: Onion SoupMy boyfriend enjoyed this soup but for me, not so much. I prefer those creamy and salty kind of soup and this soup is totally different. I wanted to order the mushroom soup but they did not serve it on that day.croque monsieurSome French Style Sandwich I guess? It it is honey ham, cheese and egg served on the top of a thick toast. It is served with olive and sweet potato chips on the board. The dinging- ware is quite special I think.Marinara Spaghetti:This tomato base spaghetti is cooked with dory fish, tiger prawn and squid. The noodle is quite chewy and tasty. I like its sweet and sour tomato sauce a lot!Awfully Chocolate chocolate milk:The chocolate milk is served in an adorable plastic bottle, which could be brought home. The waitress told us to shake it well before we use it. The milk has a too strong chocolate favor. I could only handle to drink one cup of it.Honey Lemongrass:My boyfriend love the flavor of lemongrass so of course, he order it. The drink is served with a big grass jar. The honey is at the bottom and there is a lemongrass in it. We both think that this drink is a little bit of too sweet.Cold Poached Chocolate:Last but not least, the classic Awfully chocolate dessert. The chocolate is the same as the one you bought from the AC outlet. What really attract me is the Nine Thirty in Chinese written on the side of the dish. It makes this dessert so classy.I enjoy my dinner here. This bistro is classy. The relaxing music they played really make the dinners cosy. When we left the restaurant, it is already late night but the restaurant is still full of people. I recommend this restaurant to you and hope you can have a enjoyable dinner there as much I do.…Read More

I discover this interesting place through the internet. The restaurant is right next to their art gallery. When we were dining, we could enjoy the view of people doing their painting in the gallery.Their food are full of artistry as well!Eight Treasure Tea $4.90:The traditional Chinese Babao Cha served in a Chinese tea cup and a pot of hot water. The hot water is refillable so you can just take one cup of tea and sit there for a whole day.Lychee Tea $11 :The Lychee Tea is served with a set of beautiful and modern tea-ware. And it comes with a piece of cookie. Also, it is served with a cup of sweetener, so you can choose your sugar level by yourself. The Lychee Tea is very taste and refreshing.Chongqing Specialty Fish Slice with Preserved Veg in Superior Stock $38.9The restaurant is having a promotion. Free prawn ball for buying the large serving fish slice. Although the waiter said that the large serving is for 5-6 people, we insisting of ordering. This dish is so delicious so that we finished by two people. Highly recommended!Crispy Prawn Ball in Wasabi Mayonnaise $16.9:This is a freebie come with the fish slice. Although it is free, it is still yummy! The prawn is fresh and crispy. Together with the Wasabi Mayonnaise coating, it is a perfect match!Chilled Pumpkin Sago with ice-cream $4.9Glutinous Rice Ball coated in Grounded Peanut $5.9Another promotion of the restaurant, dessert 1 for 1. We chose these two desserts. Comparing to other dishes we order, the dessert is less attractive. But still, worth a try. This restaurant has great dining environment and great food quality. It is a perfect place for friends to hangout and high-tea!…Read More

Lovely café
Forty Hands
2013-08-15
Went to a book store in Tiong Bahru and found this lovely café across from the street. It was a Friday night and the café is already full of people. We found a seat at the corner. By the seat, is an adorable wall painting, which looks quite like Jesuss.Truffle Fries: Super nice! And with big portion! We two people could hardly finished. White Flat: Tasty coffee with a lovely heart shape on the top.Truffle Mushroom Sandwich:The baked sandwich is filled with some unknown vegetables and mushrooms. Flavor kind of plain. My friend ordered some fish sandwich and it's a bit sour.We couldn't finish all our sandwich so we took the doggie bag. We were surprised that the food tasted better overnightThis place is good for friends to sit down, hang out and take some photos together.…Read More

Traditional Chicken Rice in the Central
Wee Nam Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice Wee Nam Kee Chicken Rice
2013-08-15
Wee Nam Kee Chicken Rice is reopened in United Square and it is packed with people on a weekday night. The restaurant is spacious and some tables are already reserved. My friend and I queue for 5 minutes and in the end we shared a big table with a mother and her daughter. The wet tower.Roast Chicken:We order a roast chicken set, which come with a plate of Cai Sim and a bowl of oil rice and a bowl of chicken soup. The chicken is beautifully done and is tender. We love this dish.Hainanese Chicken:For the Hainanese chicken, we also ordered a set. Instead of Cai Sim, we chose wonton soup as side dish. This chicken is not as good as the roast chicken. It is a bit too dry.Wonton Soup:This is the side dish of the Hainanese Chicken set. There are four wonton inside the chicken soup. It is quite a big portion as a side dish. And it is tasty too!We also order a plate of char siu & Siu yuk. The meet is too dry and there is no taste at all. The food quality in this restaurant is not so fantastic. But as a restaurant in the central, its good dining environment and affordable price can still attract a lot of people.…Read More

Traditional Italian Restaurant
ETNA Italian Restaurant
2013-08-15
I saw this interesting bottle from my friend's facebook page. So I ask him, what is this and where is it from. He told me that it is from Etna. I was quite interested so I decided to give this restaurant a visit. Who could know that this is a bottle filled with olive oil and vinegarHouse White Wine $12:When I asked the manager, which wine goes well with my order, he recommended me this strong white wine. It did go well with the food ordered that day!Terrina di Melanzane alla Parmigiana con Mozzarella di Bufala e Pesto al Basilico $18:This is a baked eggplant with buffalo mozzarella cheese and light basil pesto in a tomato sauce. The flavor is a bit of flat and is too greasy as a starter. Chef Special--Sea Bass Linguine:The manager recommended this dish. He said that the sea bass was shipped from Italy and is very fresh. So I decided to give it a try. The sea bass is really fresh and yummy. Also, the linguine is cooked with scallop, squid and oyster. I love this main dish.Tiramisù al Pistacchio di Bronte $14:This is their signature dessert, Tiramisu with pistachio flavour. It looks so beautiful and taste just right. I completely adore it!Although the food here is not so incredible, but the restaurant is very cosy and is perfect for friends to hang out. Plus, the manager and waitress there are all from Italy. So when you dine there, you will feel like you were actually in Italy.…Read More

Lovely Japanese Restaurant
Hoshino Coffee
2013-08-15
I passed by this restaurant once and was attracted by its decoration. So it became the first place come up to my mind when my friend and I decided to dine out. When we arrive the restaurant on a Friday night, we were astonished to see the long queue. But we join the long queue anyway. The queue was moving quite fast. We were able to get the seat within 15 minutes. We start to order once our table is arranged. We order three of the most interesting dishes from other reviews: the Hoshino Pot Baked Curry Rice, "Fuwa-Fuwa" Hoshino Souffle and the double Pancake soufflé for the dessert.the Hoshino Pot Baked Curry Rice:This Japanese-Style curry rice is so yummy. They have egg, sausage, cheese... All these simple ingredients combine together make it not so simple. Highly recommended!"Fuwa-Fuwa" Hoshino Souffle:This dish has an interesting name and it looks so beautiful. But that's it. Under the cover are the Souffle foam and rice. The rice is so wet and bubbly that i couldn't really enjoy.Lastly, the double Pancake soufflé:This double Pancake soufflé reminds me of the McDonald's hotcakes. Same smell, same taste, just taller...This is an interesting restaurant. May go back again to try some other dishes! …Read More
