We were lucky to be invited to a food tasting session by Between and OpenRice at Supply&Demand. It was pretty hard to find the place. But all the walking was worth it when we walked into Supply&Demand. I loved the rustic look and cosy setting, perfect for gatherings and dates.

The food tasting menu consisted of two appetisers, a pasta, a pizza and last but not least, a dessert. Avocado And Prawn Salad along with Fries With A Side of Guilt were dished up first. While the former was definitely a healthy and yummy choice, the fries were amazing! Fluffy and covered in cheese with bbq sauce dip on the side, I wished I had stuffed myself with more.

My partner and I shared the Maiale Orientale Pasta and Al Funghi Pizza. The pasta had a slight hint of spiciness and the slivers of sausages added oomph to the dish. The Al Funghi Pizza was served on a wooden block and had a thin crust. I would have preferred the crust to be more crunchy but my partner loved it and the toppings were full of mushroomy goodness. By the time the dessert was served, we were already feeling full but who could possibly turn down the opportunity to indulge in a sinful lava chocolate cake topped off with a macaron? We polished it off within minutes.

After the sumptuous meal, we made our way up to the rooftop on the second level. The night view of the city skyline from the porch was simply breathtaking. From what I've heard, there are also live soccer screenings for football fans!

Anyway, there was this carte blanche on the menu, basically you choose the meat you want and the chef determines how it is to be cooked. What a pity we didn't have it this time but we'll definitely be trying this on our next visit. Can't wait!

First thing i had noticed upon stepping into this restaurant was the hanging lanterns. The marketing manager said that these lanterns were added to the interior decor at the final stage. We agreed that they set a complimentary mood for the otherwise incomplete setting; making the cuisine place look well presented enough to have corporate dinners, and yet cosy at the same time for family gatherings.

Was told that one of their most popular dishes, is the Signature Lobster Porridge(招牌龙虾粥).
Depending on your food intake capacity, this dish supposedly serves 2 pax. It consists of fresh succulent lobsters, porridge akin to teochew muey texture and a secret sauce that gave this dish its unique flavour and fragrance. A good comfort food in my opinion.

Another dish we had today was Seven Spice Pork Chop(七味汁猪仔扒) which tasted mildly peppered and rather fragrant. Unfortunately, i have never been a fan of porky pig so i ate this dish least.

This was followed by their Crispy Lotus with Salted Egg(咸蛋脆莲藕). I must say i truly enjoyed this dish. The lotus root..very thinly sliced and coated with salted egg yolk, the chef then fried them. Not oily nor too salty when touching the taste buds. It can be a healthier snack substitute for your regular potato chips or popcorn while sitting on the couch watching your favourite drama series.

Next, was the Green Dragon Vegetables(双味青龙) served in deep-fried and stir-fried variants. I enjoy vegetables in general so it was pleasing to see this being served as part of our lunch today. The deep-fried version tasted a little like fried seaweed in terms of texture, whereas the stir-fried one retained the freshness and mild crunchiness of fresh vegetables.

Caro Chicken Soup with Chinese Pear & Coconut(椰肉雪梨鸡汤) was the soup for today. Giving thanks to my cantonese upbringing, i adore soups, in particular double-boiled tonic soups. It was a cold day and this soup warmed my body, and nourished my health. The chicken used for this dish is fed with a secret but healthy diet. Resulting in a low cholesterol end product. The marketing manager said that this soup is recommended for people who are looking to 'clean' their lungs.

To welcome the season of hairy crabs, we shared 1 of their Authentic Shanghai Hairy Crab(大闸蟹). The crab we dissected had generous servings of crab roe and tasted rather creamy with intense seafood sweetness and fragrance.

Last but not least, i recommend their Fresh Vegetable Juice(新鲜蔬菜汁) which is refreshing without being too overpowered by the 'plant taste'. It consists of pineapple, sourplum and cai xin. Very appetising drink.

The restaurant has 2 rooms available should you prefer to dine in private, away from the dining crowd. The marketing manager was pleased to advise that there will not be extra charges incurred for the use of these rooms.

First of all I must say the restaurant really catches one attention with its name. Was honored to be shared by the owner himself that it was named after his 2 daughters. It also has a meaning to him as he went against all odds and even sold his house to fund this restaurant business, the "can do" spirit which alot of us should really learn from.

From car plates from US states to roman helmets to nazi headgear to golden record labels to variety of musical instrument...these were just some of the very nostalgic feel decorations you can find in the shop. In my opinion, just running thru each of them with yr eyes will probably take you hours I kid you not. We were told the highlight of the deco include the very old look standing hair steamer which is just placed beside a white metal sliding gate. Yes there's a old school sliding gate in the shop.

Furniture wise was non uniform ranging from sofas to glass tables to small tools and old school chairs, but it perfectly blends with the vast variety of interior deco. The owner also shared that they are gaining increasing popularity as a wedding photography option. I could simply understand why just looking at the efforts in dolling up the place.

For drinks, I tried the sunset boulevard which taste like a fruit version of ice lemon tea. It was nice and refreshing, served in one of those cool glass mugs.

I also like my mains - chicken curry with bread. The curry reminds me of Steam Sia version and is served in this nice saucer with a matching porcelain pot. For $10.90 it's not the best but good enough for me. My other guest who tried the pasta wasn't too impressed though but we are agreed the place's design do make up for it.

Food dun seem to be a main focus here as it was hard to tell what cuisine they specialize in but u do see a couple of interesting drinks and dish name on the menu.

I would recommend this for small group gathering of 3 to 4pax. And I'm sure you can be free from the usual noisy diners blabbering/chats and enjoy nice cosy conversation with friends. mad

Frozen Yogurt OK Oct 01, 2013

I've tried their yogurt cake before and it's not bad. My mum bought their frozen yogurt this time, and they had a promotion of 3 tubs for $30, and you can choose any flavours you want, which differ daily. I prefer the mango flavoured one compared to their berries one. Peach flavour was also alright. There's nothing special about their frozen yogurt, and Yami yogurt still has one of the best yogurts.

My dad went to visit his friend at woodlands and on his way home to the mrt station, ha passed by this stall.
It was Dora Keiki and what's interesting is that they were selling dragon ball cakes!
He decide to try and ordered 2, one for me which is the Red bean and the durian for mum lol
It was cheap and worth a try!
The cake was a bit dry but the red bean was tasty and sweet!
I bite a mouth of my mum's durain cake and there is filling in it too!
