We were lucky to be invited to a food tasting session by Between and OpenRice at Supply&Demand. It was pretty hard to find the place. But all the walking was worth it when we walked into Supply&Demand. I loved the rustic look and cosy setting, perfect for gatherings and dates.

The food tasting menu consisted of two appetisers, a pasta, a pizza and last but not least, a dessert. Avocado And Prawn Salad along with Fries With A Side of Guilt were dished up first. While the former was definitely a healthy and yummy choice, the fries were amazing! Fluffy and covered in cheese with bbq sauce dip on the side, I wished I had stuffed myself with more.

My partner and I shared the Maiale Orientale Pasta and Al Funghi Pizza. The pasta had a slight hint of spiciness and the slivers of sausages added oomph to the dish. The Al Funghi Pizza was served on a wooden block and had a thin crust. I would have preferred the crust to be more crunchy but my partner loved it and the toppings were full of mushroomy goodness. By the time the dessert was served, we were already feeling full but who could possibly turn down the opportunity to indulge in a sinful lava chocolate cake topped off with a macaron? We polished it off within minutes.
Grenadine Fizz; a definite must-try!

After the sumptuous meal, we made our way up to the rooftop on the second level. The night view of the city skyline from the porch was simply breathtaking. From what I've heard, there are also live soccer screenings for football fans!

Anyway, there was this carte blanche on the menu, basically you choose the meat you want and the chef determines how it is to be cooked. What a pity we didn't have it this time but we'll definitely be trying this on our next visit. Can't wait!

This is one of the newest stalls in this food centre.

I was greeted by the Auntie when she spotted me taking picture of the stall. We chatted and she recommended the Katong Laksa to me. The Auntie insisted i took a picture of the poster featured the Katong Laksa. She even offered to give me a small bowl to try it.

Interestingly, their Chee Cheong Fun came with various selection of fillings such as Roasted Chicken, Veggie & Egg, Seaweed Mushroom, Abalone, Otah, You Tiao and even Durian! The prices range from $2.80 to $5.00. Fried Rice is available right at this stall too.

I decided to go with the Hong Kong style Char Siew Chee Cheong Fun for $2.80. The Chee Cheong Fun is freshly handmade upon order.

The Auntie scooped a ladle of the rice flour batter and poured them onto the steamer. The rice sheet was formed almost instantly. She then laid the chopped char siew together with shredded lettuce down then quickly folded it.

She divided it into 3 rolls then further cut it into smaller pieces. It was then placed on the plate before poured the soya sauce over it and sprinkled with bit of sesame seeds. I wanted her to place the chilli by the side but she suggested that it tasted nicer when applied on the Chee Cheong Fun directly.

She then applied on just one of the three rolls of Chee Cheong Fun so i would get to taste the difference between chilli and non-chilli.

The presentation was pretty neat. I tried both the chilli and non-chilli pieces but prefer the chilli one much more. The sauce tasted quite different from other stalls. Auntie mentioned that it tasted more like sweet & sour sauce with rather minimum level of spiciness. It generally tasted nice to me though i could not distinctly taste the spiciness nor sourness or sweetness out of the sauce.

The filling of char siew was of quite a generous amount. The thin rice sheet was of a desirable softness with a delightful smoothness.

I could not quite appreciate the combination of char siew and shredded lettuce. If i ever come back, i would definitely request to leave the shredded lettuce out.

An interesting stall to look out for especially if you are game enough to try out the Durian Chee Cheong Fun there.

First of all I must say the restaurant really catches one attention with its name. Was honored to be shared by the owner himself that it was named after his 2 daughters. It also has a meaning to him as he went against all odds and even sold his house to fund this restaurant business, the "can do" spirit which alot of us should really learn from.

From car plates from US states to roman helmets to nazi headgear to golden record labels to variety of musical instrument...these were just some of the very nostalgic feel decorations you can find in the shop. In my opinion, just running thru each of them with yr eyes will probably take you hours I kid you not. We were told the highlight of the deco include the very old look standing hair steamer which is just placed beside a white metal sliding gate. Yes there's a old school sliding gate in the shop.

Furniture wise was non uniform ranging from sofas to glass tables to small tools and old school chairs, but it perfectly blends with the vast variety of interior deco. The owner also shared that they are gaining increasing popularity as a wedding photography option. I could simply understand why just looking at the efforts in dolling up the place.

For drinks, I tried the sunset boulevard which taste like a fruit version of ice lemon tea. It was nice and refreshing, served in one of those cool glass mugs.

I also like my mains - chicken curry with bread. The curry reminds me of Steam Sia version and is served in this nice saucer with a matching porcelain pot. For $10.90 it's not the best but good enough for me. My other guest who tried the pasta wasn't too impressed though but we are agreed the place's design do make up for it.

Food dun seem to be a main focus here as it was hard to tell what cuisine they specialize in but u do see a couple of interesting drinks and dish name on the menu.

I would recommend this for small group gathering of 3 to 4pax. And I'm sure you can be free from the usual noisy diners blabbering/chats and enjoy nice cosy conversation with friends. mad

Frozen Yogurt OK Oct 01, 2013

I've tried their yogurt cake before and it's not bad. My mum bought their frozen yogurt this time, and they had a promotion of 3 tubs for $30, and you can choose any flavours you want, which differ daily. I prefer the mango flavoured one compared to their berries one. Peach flavour was also alright. There's nothing special about their frozen yogurt, and Yami yogurt still has one of the best yogurts.
