Full BWB (Burger VS Wings + Bar) review here: http://ivanteh-runningman.blogspot.sg/2014/01/bwb-burger-vs-wings-bar.html

Operating under the Kitchen Language Group, the 3 week old BWB (Burger VS Wings + Bar) is a new concept restaurant where a constant food fight is taking place, in a metaphorical sense. The competition is between the chef specialising in burgers, and the chef specialising in chicken wings, but the true winner is the customer!

The ambience at BWB (Burger VS Wings + Bar) is designed to be a chill, relaxing place for groups. In tandem with its concept, BWB (Burger VS Wings + Bar) is designed to resemble a boxing ring, with boxing memorabilia such as punching bags, boxing gloves, and various championship fight posters. All this lends an element of fun to its casual atmosphere.

I loved the sticky, creamy texture of peanut butter on the Tyson Peanut Butter Burger (SGD $21.90), which was evenly coated on the thick and juicy angus beef patty. The sunny side up egg, fresh arugula, smoky bacon and sharp melted cheddar rounded out the taste profile of this magnificanet burger. The burger bun itself was special, made from brioche and infused with a hint sun-dried tomatoes.

I liked the fresh, large portion of breaded izumi fish fillet on the Pacific Izumi Fish Burger (SGD $15.80). Packed within the sun-dried tomato brioche burger buns along with a sunny side up egg, cucumber, arugula, bacon and tartar sauce, this is the perfect burger for the health conscious, or those looking for a lighter meal. I tried adding the honey mustard sauce from another dish, which I thought enhanced the overall taste.

The BWB Classic Heavyweight Burger (SGD $19.90), with the classic burger ingredients of smoky bacon, fresh tomato and onions, a sunny side up egg, all packed with a tender, juicy angus beef patty, topped with savoury chili con carne and french mustard within a sesame brioche burger bun. Totally divine, I'm in burger heaven!

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, the Wagyu Beef Black Burger (SGD $28) was served. This montrosity of a burger has an excellent, well grilled and juicy wagyu beef patty, slathered with barbecue sauce, which shines through the toppings of avocado, tomatoes, rocket leaves, melted cheddar cheese and bacon. They even managed to stuff beer battered onion rings inside! The burger bun is unique as well, featuring a bamboo charcoal infused brioche, quite fragrant!

Not for the faint of heart, the spicy Hot Buffalo Wings (SGD $15.80) come coated in 3 levels of hot sauce; mild, medium, and suicide. We tried the medium level, and very nearly died from the spiciness of it... But it was so good! The chicken meat is juicy, tasty, and comes clean off the bone, a sign of excellent cooking. For the ultimate spicy challenge, try the Suicide Hot Buffalo Wings with house cocktail The Challenger.

Satisfying Crab Craving Smile Sep 05, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Seafood

Ivy is craving for crabs cos her friends "areoplane" her, so she asked if Angela & myself can help her satisfy her craving. We decided to check out the newly opened Momma Kong's Crab Shack at Mosque Street. Simple yet cozy environment. Great for friends gathering!

Menu were limited, so gotta wait for other diners to finish ordering before you get your hands on it. They should consider printing more copies to cater for bigger crowd. "Tools & bins" were also provided on all tables

We were there few minutes before the Happy Hour ends, so we got our ciders at 25% off! I have Pear while Ivy & Angle goes for Elderflower & lime.

Our meal started off with Spicy Tangy Top Shell $15 - A little bit of sourness, sweetness & spiciness. Pretty good but I find it too watery. Spicy Ikan Bilis $6 is superb! Tiny yet crunchy. The girls asked for the belachan to put put aside in case it's too spicy. After the first few mouthful of it, the girls decided to dump the rest of the belechan into the remaining Ikan Bilis but soon regretted their decision cos it turn out to be really spicy, but it was terribly good! I asked if they sell the belechan on its own; sadly it is not available for sale now but they will consider selling it soon!

Tofu Chips $6 is surprisingly soft inside & crunchy outside

The crabs are $38 each or $110 for a set of 3 crabs. We decided to opt for the set of 3. We were deciding between Steam or Black Pepper Crab & finally decided on Steam Crab to check out the quality since I read somewhere that the crabs here are frozen. Thus, first on the list will be Steam Crab as this has got the mildest taste. Surprisingly, this is nicely done & couldn't taste that it's frozen.

Next on the list - Crab in Bee Hoon Soup. The soup is however a little fishy but it gets better after adding the Hua Diao which is provided at the side.

The Pretty Fried Man Tou $1.50 (min 2pc) is surprisingly sweet to eat on it's own. However, it was quite huge I couldn't even finish 2! Luckily we didn't order 2pc each

Lastly, Chili Crab. The chili is not like the usual sweet & spicy type which you get in most hawker center. The chili crab here is a little spicy it musk the taste of the crab. The sauce is a little dry & I wish it was served with more sauce.

Service here were friendly & attentive; superb! I won't mind going back again to try the Black Pepper Crab & other new variants if available!

Spending per head: Approximately $60(Dinner)

As it was my good friend, Serene’s birthday celebration,we have decided to try Momma Kong’s and how glad we are to have made such a wise choice.

My first impression of Momma Kong’s is it’s quite different in the deco as compare to other crab restaurant. I love the fact that it’s simple and chic with a very relaxed and laid back setting and for the service crews, if I am not wrong is the 2 bosses themselves. One thing about their service is, it’s really very attentive and give you very comfortable and cosy feel.

As for the menu, it is quite interesting as it looks like a compilation of several Facebook pages. However the menu isn’t very extensive, just crabs cooking in 4 different varieties, some small bites , 2 types of vegetables and a variety of beverages. Something that I like about the Momma Kong’s is that they have Asahi on the tap and before 7pm is happy hours so 25% off. But I didn’t order Asahi that day cos I was introduced to another type of beer. Hehe!

Anyway ,we ordered black pepper crab, crab with bee hoon soup, chicken chucks with belachan chilli, 3 mantous. Thank God we didn’t ordered more. Although on the menu,it is written that the crab weight about 650g but 3 of us were quite sure,it was more than that when we saw another table’s crab been served.

Just like all fried food, the chicken chucks are very succulent and yummy. But I must seriously rave about this belacha chilli. It is really flavorful and spicy. Can you imagine 3 of us kept raving over it once we had our first taste of the yummy chilli.

The crab bee hoon soup is simply mind blowing. Can you imagine the rich milky broth with chinese wine and the combination of the fresh sweet crab meat? Simply spot on!We girls finished up the soup in no time. Hiaks.

The black pepper sauce is really finger licking good and goes very well with their beautifully weaved mantous(come in steamed or fried, but we choose the fried ones).

Overall,it was a lovely food hunting experience as we really didn't expect such a 5 stars service from Momma Kong's.On top of that,I am personally very impressed with their food servicing timing.Simply marvelous.Beside that, we didn't paid a lot for such great food and wonderful service, just $144.65,easy on the pocket. On top of that, Momma Kong is also tied up with Perx, an app that can give you digital chops whenever you spend at their merchandisers. Accumulate 5 chops for a free crab on the next visit.Haha I foresee us getting the free crabs very soon as we are going back next month =D

Streaky Pork Belly Salad ($8.00)
appetizer dish. The dressing complemented the pork belly well but I am still not a fan of it as I do not like pork belly.

Spicy Mix Vegetables ($6.00)
this dish is moderately spicy. People who can't take spicy food would not be able to tolerate this. I love how they use several types of vegetables to make this dish. They give the dish more variety and make it more colourful. This is great to go along with rice.

Chicken Legs Soup ($3.50)
Fancy something healthy? Here's a bowl of chicken feet soup! The broth was extremely flavourful and there was no oil at the surface. However, I find that the taste of the soup was too strong and I could not tell if it was naturally flavoured or because of the M.S.G. Most people (including me) do not take chicken feet as it might be an acquired taste. Good for you if you do as chicken feet contains a lot of collagen!

Pork Legs Soup ($3.50)
Another collagen-laden soup, drink this and you are on your way to looking more youthful (that's why most chinese people look younger than their age as compared to their western counterparts). This soup was quite spicy due to the chopped chilli padi inside. It was still manageable for me though.

Deep Fried Pork Ribs ($6.00)
Don't be fooled by its unappealing appearance, they actually tasted good! I had 4 mini pork ribs! The meat was tough yet tender enough to chew and digest. It also came off the bone easily.

Kong Pao Chicken ($6.00)
This dish is mildly spicy, with many chunks of bite-sized chicken fillets, dried chilli and mixed vegetables. The meat was tender and seasoned well.

Mandalay Mee Shay (4.50) (Thicker Noodles)
Meeshay noodles are rice noodles mixed with meat sauce. Some found it spicy while I don't. I still prefer my chinese noodles though.

We also tried the Shan Rice Noodle ($4.00) (Thin & Sticky). This bowl of noodles was the more popular version among the foodies and I have to agree.

Steam Fish with Special Sauce ($15.00)
This has got to be my favourite dish for that evening. The sauce complemented the soft and tender steamed fish very well. While the sauce was rich in flavour, the fish - plain on its own - went so well with the sauce. There was a subtle taste of peanut and mild chilli which I felt was gentle on the tastebuds yet really flavourful at the same time.

Overall, the meal had a very homely feel and a sense of satisfaction came over me as I finished my meal. If you are looking for yummy burmese food, check out Mandalay Style.

Categories : Ice Cream and Gelato

Iscream is the newest addition to the Fengshan neighbourhood which is under the Arteastiq umbrela. Located within walking distance from the famous Bedok 85 Food Centre, it is a good location for desserts after a meal at the hawker centre.

One of the signature items sold here would be the Social Media plate, which was unfortunately available as they had not obtained their liquor license yet. We got the other signature item instead which was the Soogle ($11.90), which was four scoops of ice-cream flavours of your choice sandwiched between macaron shells. We got ourselves the Red Date Tea, Durian, Pulot Hitam and Nuts over Bananas flavours for our ice-cream.

Nuts over Bananas was sweet as it tasted of caramalised bananas with a hint of walnuts. Bits of walnuts could also be detected to provide another form of texture to the ice-cream. We quite liked the flavour, as well as the macaron shells that were very chewy after soaking up the melted ice-cream.

We could not really tell which type of durian was used for their Durian flavour, but it tasted really natural and distinct. Durian junkies will definitely love this for the distinct flavour of the king of fruits!

Red Date Tea was my favourite, probably due to heavy aroma of tea in it. Fans of matcha-flavoured or other tea-flavoured ice-creams will find this flavour appealing.

Pulot Hitam was the least exciting flavour of the lot. It was barely sweet, and the coconut milk flavour was also too light on the palate. We did enjoy the grains of Pulot Hitam which not only gave a nice bite, but also a slight flavour boost as well.

Apart from the Soogle and Social Plate, Iscream also sells ice-cream with waffles and Korean-styled ice-creams. For regular scoops, they charge by weight, and various condiments such as nuts are available to buy in packs situated in front of the counter. Beverages include coffee, and teas from Arteastique are also available. For those who wants to experience a fresh concept, Iscream is a place that you should never miss!
