When I first stepped into La Marelle, I thought a Candy Crush bomb exploded in it. Located on the second floor of a shophouse at Bagdhad Street (near Arab St), the bright airy cafe was adorned with colourful walls decorated with cloud and raindrops motifs, flowery paper lanterns, whimsical decorations and merchandise for sale. I went to La Marelle twice actually. The first t...

Tiong Hoe Speciality Coffee is a hidden gem at Stirling Road, but it's no stranger to the neighbourhood as it's been around for 50 years now. The owner, Mr Tan, is insisted on the traditional method of roasting 100% pure coffee and providing quality coffee beans to households and food and beverage establishments. Only just few months ago they decided on exploring the cafe c...

Armed with our groupon voucher of $5.90 for 2 scoops of Artisan Gelato from Alfero, we trooped down to their spanking new outlet at Orchard Gateway (otherwise known as the mall squeezed between Somerset 313 and Orchard Central. Hidden in the basement, Alfero is tucked amongst the many F&B options in Orchard Gateway and with its chic black interior, could have been eas...

I was lucky enough to get to dine here recently. Talking about location of the place, for drivers like me, its near the rear carpark (FOC!) facing the rugby field and you walk up the staircase near Omakase Burger and the entrance to the building itself. You will find it at the same floor as Ah Yat Restaurant. With seats overlooking the rugby field, this newly opened steam...
This eighteen chefs outlet at The Cathay is one of the many outlets opened. I thought this is the only one. Their menu looks good but is not. The service could be better. Ordered the aglio olio and set B. Set B is served with drinks and soup. The mushroom is good, enough mushroom taste and not diluted. However, the aglio olio pasta is bland. It is just pasta that was cooked in b...

The spaghetti cooked with the chunky tomato sauce and served with a slice of juicy pan fried chicken breast. The spaghetti was perfectly cooekd and soaked up all the goodness from the tomato sauce. The downside was that the dish tasted slightly bland - few dashes of salt could solve the problem. The breast seem out of place (didnt really merge with the dish).
The Macarons are unique and very strong almond flavor! The filling are not sweet like the usual one, it is less sweet and easily to swallow in 5pcs at one go. Love the Rose petal, Lychee martini, chocolate and matcha. The shell are crispy outside and inner filled with enough moisture to soothe your throat. The Macarons come in round shape, but not consistent, that...

I think many Teochew food lovers would have heard of Ah Orh since it has been around since long time ago. I was introduced to this place by my uncle who found the dishes at Ah Orh authentic and good. There is one Ah Orh in Bukit Merah and one in Sin Ming. We went to the one in Sin Ming. One of the famous dishes in Ah Orh is the Teochew cold crabs. The crabs ar boiled...
I'm no food writer or reviewer but I really enjoyed my dinner here. The place is no longer at the AliBaBar establishment but just a couple of doors away. We started it off with a half dozen escargots, which was very palatable with garlic and cheese. We then shared the foie gras, which came in a pleasantly generous portion and was perfectly done, again, I'm not a chef or anything but i...

Despite waiting for 15 minutes on a weekday (and for lunch, mind you), the food certainly worth the wait. We ordered creamy salmon spaghetti and spaghetti served with shredded duck meat. The creamy salmon spaghetti was very rich, cheesy, and creamy. Well, probably not the healthiest but who cares if it tasted great? The spaghetti was served with shredded duck meat. This one was ...
Tried pancakes but it is another ordinary pancake. The texture is similar to mcdonald's. Little berries is not bad but the maple butter is normal as well. My friend tried the breakfast served with bacon and the staff is willing to help her to change to chicken given the fact that she does not eat pork. The latte served is so mini. It's cute but given the price i would not recommend to tr...
So I have been on the hunt for naengmyun and this place serves it. With all the 'authenticity' and the beef-filled menu, I was really looking forward to it. The naengmyun has the right ingredients: icy cold stock, noodles which were a little chewy, sliced beef, sliced korean pear, sliced cukes (cucumber) and the hard boiled egg. Sides of vinegar and mustard totally get the thumbs up fo...
