Chili's for lunch on a holiday Smile Aug 08, 2013

Categories : American

Just came to have lunch at Chili's today with my family on a public holiday. I had the crispy chicken tacos, my first time trying this dish. I was quite pleased with the dish which came with 3 soft tortilla tacos that were wrapping pieces of crispy fried chicken. I loved that the crispy which was accompanied by lots of fresh tomatoes and lettuce which provided moisture and cut the greasiness of the chicken. The server was good too, being polite and responsive. The cost is about $30 for the tacos.

Not very good western food Cry Aug 08, 2013

My first time trying Saizeriya, and was quite disappointed with it. Although the prices were cheap and kept low for all menu items, the food quality is equally as low. I paid $6 for a Squid Ink Pasta and found that it was not up to par at all. It was rather oily and bland tasting. I couldnt even finish half of it. Not a good choice even with the low prices for the food.

The service was very bad here though, while the server was taking our orders she was practically shouting at us. As each of us told her our orders she would exclaim " next" abruptly. Another server was also very blunt in addressing us. In addition the ambience was honestly nothing to talk about, there is barely any ambience. and the aircon was not working very well in some parts of the restaurant.

Crab dishes Smile Aug 08, 2013

Categories : Seafood | Zi Char

Came to long beach for dinner the other day. Besides the usual dishes like chilli crab, black pepper crab and squid, this seafood place offers more unique offerings too. For example, I had the chance to try out crab porridge for the first time. The porridge was not too thick nor watery and had nice rich crab taste to it. Prices vary according to crab prices of that time. Other crab dishes are competent too.

I particularly liked the chilli crab which was not too sweet unlike many other outlets. The ketchup and chilli sauce taste was well balanced and the combination of textures and taste was good. The seafood here is generally fresh and the crabs are all meaty and fresh tasting full of chunky meat in the sri lankan style crabs.

Fantastic rice dish Smile Aug 08, 2013

I really like the claypot rice here! It is super tasty and the dark sauce is oily but very flavourful. I like the chicken pieces inside the rice cause they are piping hot and cooked within the rice so they get the sauce flavour too. The pieces of chicken are also very tender and flavourful. The rice itself is nice and the burnt bits on the bottom are the best. $8 for a small claypot. The claypot rice is also available in $12 portions which is significantly larger than the 8 dollars one. If you are in a big group it makes a lot more sense to get this one cause its alot more value for money. There is the option of salted fish version too which costs a few dollars more. I cant really taste the salted fish though so not worth the extra money.

Rojak:) Smile Aug 08, 2013

Categories : Food Court

Came back to my favourite stall for more of the delicious rojak! The queue is always at least 25 minutes long throughout the day, but the wait is worth it for the great food. The $5 portion is really huge, and is very yummy. It is covered with tons of peanuts and very generously mixed with flavourful prawn paste sauce. The youtiao is the best part, being crispy and crunchy! The rojak is available in 2.50, 3 , 4, 5 dollar portions.
