Pandan kaya roll! Smile Aug 05, 2013

Categories : Fusion | Bakery | Desserts and Cakes | Sweets/Snack

This shop specializes in swiss rolls. I bought a kaya flavoured one to try and found it very novel. This is very unlike a regular swiss roll in terms of taste and texture. For one the roll cake is very very soft and moist which is a plus point. It is also barely sweet unlike most cakes. Also the filling is not cream but a kaya custard style filling that is harder in consistency. A good try! Only $7.50 per roll This place specializes in swiss rolls hence swiss rolls were the only item tried.

Delicious kueh Smile Aug 05, 2013

Chinta manis has pretty good kueh. Generally higher than average quality. I particularly liked the colourful nine layer kueh which was a delight to eat. Each layer could be peeled off and eaten on its own which was fun to do. Also the kueh was particularly soft and chewy and was much more delicate than many others. The coconut fragance was also very evident in it. This costs 0.90 cents a piece about

Good dim sum Smile Aug 05, 2013

Dim sum is one of my favourite foods to have for lunch because of the wide variety of dishes that you can try and enjoy. Peach garden is pretty competent in their dim sum offerings. Classics such as the char siew are done well, being caramalised and sticky and sweet. Fatty parts are used for juiciness and flavour although some pieces comprise completely of fat which is a turn off. Dim sum costs about 4-5 dollars per basket. The other dim sum that were also good included the siew mai and the har gao with big chunks of prawn inside that were fresh and succulent.

Pizza for dinner! Smile Aug 05, 2013

I came to grab a slice of pizza from this takeaway counter! The pepperoni pizza looked good so I decided to try that out. The pizza was full of cheese which was super yummy since the cheese was hot and stretchy. The pizza base was not too thick nor too thin so this was a plus point. Lots of tomato sauce and pepperoni pizza added tons of flavour to the pizza too. The price for a large slice is just under $10, pretty ok priced.

Fried bee hoon for breakfast Smile Aug 05, 2013

Categories : Hawker Centre

Needed a hearty local breakfast the other day so i decided to grab some at whampoa food centre. The beehoon from this stall was pretty average, being flavourful enough but nothing outstanding. It was not too greasy which was a plus point. The toppings i added were chicken wings which were fried well such that they retained juicyness. Each wing costs $1 which is pretty ok. The sausages also cost $1 each.
