Alexandra Village has many good eats which always leaves me spoilt for choices because there are too many good food to savour. Besides the famous claypot laksa, another name synonymous with Alexandra Food Village is Mr Avocado.

I was never a fan of avocado but I was convinced to try it one time and ever since then, I am a convert. The avocado juice here is thick, rich and creamy, it is like slurping heaven in a cup. There is a very nice fragrance to the drink and it is very smooth to the taste as well. No matter how full I am, I will always insist on getting a cup and finishing the entire cup by myself. The best thing is that one cup costs only $2.50 which is really affordable as avocado is a premium fruit. Other places that are charging up to $3.50 a cup taste nowhere as good as this. I will definitely recommend you to try out this cup of goodness for yourself and see the difference.

I didn't realise there is an outlet of Astons Express here and I was glad that there is an outlet here because it meant that I could have western meal. I ordered the grill fish set. For my sides, I chose the house salad and the potato wedges. I think the potato wedges are freshly fried as it is exceptionally tasty and crispy. It is so good, I finished up all the wedges before starting on the grilled fish. The grilled fish is very soft and the fish just falls apart once I chewed on it. I think it could be even better than the ones that I had in restaurants as the texture of the grilled fish here is great. The house salad comprises of cabbage, shredded carrots and baby tomatoes. It is quite refreshing as it is chilled. It is a great dinner and I am looking forward to the next time I come here for dinner.

Genki Sushi is a place which I will highly recommend all to go because of its very interesting conveyor belt. The food orders arrive in little trains and it is really interesting to watch. Moreover, fun aside, the food is also up to the mark. All of the dishes that we ordered are all to our liking. The salmon sushi comes in 3 slices and each is a delight, the salmon is fresh and the rice is delicious. Besides the salmon, we also love the Seared black pepper crab. The taste is quite unique and the price is very affordable as well, at just $2.30. Another dish which I love was the chawanmushi. I like that there is not too much of water in the egg custard as I cut into it and also because the chawanmushi is very very smooth. I will definitely come again!

I had some time to kill before meeting the client so I went for a desserts at Watami. At the time I went, it is already 2pm hence there is no crowd at all. I ordered the Matcha Parfait, which costs $6.80. The Matcha Parfait has two scoops of green tea ice cream together with cream and red beans. The bottom of the glass is chocolate, followed by cornflakes. There is also a oreo stick. The presentation wins a lot of points as it is visually very attractive. The taste is also good. The green tea ice cream is not too sweet and the cream is very smooth and it makes the ice cream very creamy and smooth when eaten together. The red beans are also soft and delicious. It is quite hard to reach for the toppings at the bottom of the ice cream though. I had to eat one scoop of the ice cream first before I could reach the cornflakes. The combination of all the ingredients work and I really enjoy the parfait.

My colleagues and I had lunch at havelock food centre and we decided to try out the kway chap store. The kway chap store here has quite a long queue. We had to wait for around 20 minutes before getting our order. The kway is very thin and even though it is thin, it does not break easily. It is very smooth and it is not too doughy. The soup for the kway is also quite nice as it is slightly herby. As for the ingredients, it is quite fresh as the intestines do not have the stench and it is thoroughly cleaned. Pairing the ingredients with the chili dip makes the taste even better. I would not mind queuing for it again.
