Yoshinoya Beef Bowl Smile Sep 19, 2013

Categories : Japanese

I have never been to Yoshinoya before and my colleague recommended that I order their beef bowl which he said was quite good. The beef bowl had very thinly sliced beef and besides beef, there is also a serving of vegetables together with the beef on the bowl. I must say the beef is tender because it is sliced very thinly. It is also very tasty and I love the onions as well! I normally do not like onions but I find the onions here to be very nice as it had absorbed the seasoning of the beef and it is now very soft and without the stinging taste. The beef bowl is rather filling because of the rice and I wasn't hungry all the way from lunch until dinner.

Satisfying lunch Smile Sep 19, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Food Court | Rice

I was visiting one of my brother who is staying in Punggol and I decided to have lunch here first before going up his house. The dishes here are quite nice and it looks very attractive. I ordered three dishes, french beans, fried tau kwa and black pepper beef. The total cost is $4 if I am not wrong because of the beef. I find that the beef is quite flavourful, there is no beef stench and the beef is rather tender. The black pepper taste compliments the beef cubes very well. The french beans are quite oily but otherwise ok. The tau kwa is quite normal, but the sourish sweet sauce was rather appetising. It is a very satisfying lunch.

Happy Boy Soya Bean  Smile Sep 18, 2013

Recently when I went to Boon Lay market food centre, I saw this beancurd stall that was selling chilled beancurd in many different flavours. I wasn't sure how many there are but I saw flavours like mango, almond, green tea, taro, strawberry. I got the original flavour as I always like to try the plain flavour before venturing into other flavours. The chilled beancurd is not too sweet, at least, not as sweet as some other beancurd that I had before. Also, it is not too watery and most of it is firm beancurd. Like all other beancurds, it is also smooth to the bite. I think I would like to try the green tea flavour the next time I am there. The cost for one tub is $2.

Egg Custard Smile Sep 18, 2013

After the dim sum feast, we continued on with our food journey at Chinatown and we stopped by Mei Heong Yuen for desserts. I have tried their pastes before but not their egg pudding so on a whim, I decided to try it. The egg pudding ($3) was served quite fast. The egg pudding is really smooth and delicate and when you cut into the pudding, it is very smooth as well. Eating it is very easy as glides down my throat. The pudding is not too sweet and I love it. If you like ginger, you can choose to have it with ginger. Next time, I will try it as I think the ginger would bring out the taste of the egg pudding even more with the contrast in taste.

Sour Sally Smile Sep 18, 2013

Categories : American | Stall / Kiosk | Desserts and Cakes

I tried out the yogurt at Sour Sally a few months back and I was quite impressed with its yogurt. The layout of the shop is very appealing to youngsters with the doll and it is quite apparant as most of the other customers are young people. I ordered the mixed flavour of pinklicious (strawberry) and original and I was really fond of its tart taste. The strawberry is more sweet and the original is slightly more sourish and the combination is works well as the tastes balance each other without overwhelming the other flavour. I did not add any topping but on seeing all the reviews here, maybe I should have added the mochi topping as it seems to be a very popular choice.
