I was working in the area and decided to pop by Crystal Jade to get some snacks for tea in the office after my lunch. This is the sesame glutinous pancake that I got as the staff are just placing it on the trays just as I entered the shop. Each of this glutinous pancake cost $1.10. It is really delicious as it is full of black sesame paste within the pancake, and the glutinous pancake itself is soft and rather chewy. The black sesame is not cloyingly sweet as well. There are around 4 other variants of this pancake, like green tea, red bean which I will definitely try next time.

My family and I frequent this dessert store since we all enjoy chinese desserts like those offered in Mei Heong Yuen. There are a large variety from hot to cold desserts. One of the favourite cold desserts of mine is the Mango Sago Dessert. Fresh mangoes are used in making this dessert which ensures that the taste is authentic and not artifically flavoured. Most of the times, the mangoes will be very sweet which makes this dessert really delicious. There are also sago and pomelo bits. The pomelo bits add a very interesting texture to the dessert and also adds a little sourness which is a good contrast to the sweet mango. I will urge all mango lovers to try this dessert for you will not regret.

At times when I do not know what to eat, I will have porridge. Porridge used to be my staple food when I was little so it brings back a lot of memories whenever I eat it. I got two dishes to go with my porridge, braised peanuts and braised meat. The porridge here is rather soupy and it is not the thick type of porridge where the rice had been blended until a smooth paste. Grains of rice can still be seen here. The braised peanuts are quite normal and the taste is like what you can find in other stalls. I love the braised meat. The meat is very tender and the bits of fats are just nice to add flavour to the meat. The meat goes especially well with the porridge. I poured a lot of the gravy over the rice, making it very savoury. Do order the braised meat if you are there.

This is a relatively new outlet in Jurong Point, I think it is opened less than a year ago. My wife and I chanced upon it while walking back to Jurong Point 2 from Jurong Point 1, and we decided to try their chocolate ice cream, the hei ice cream. A single scoop of hei ice cream is $3.80. The chocolate is really very chocolate. Chocolate lovers will be a fan of this because the chocolate is really rich and it is not too sweet. For the price of $3.80, it is very reasonable as I believe very little other ingredients are added, the bulk is chocolate. My wife and I shared a cup and I will advise you to share if you are a normal fan of chocolate because having the whole cup will be much too much for a person as the intensity of chocolate is very strong.

I went to din tai fung together with my wife in June for dinner during a weekday. It was a long wait for our tables but luckily since there are only two of us, we managed to get seated in a shorter time than expected. We both ordered la mians and a basket of the original xiao long bao to share. My la mian was the spicy la mian, can't really remember the name as it was two months ago, but it is the only chili based la mian in the menu. The la mian is really tasty with the chili oil when tossed. The chili is spicy and savoury and it whets my appetite for the xiao long bao.

I believe the xiao long bao needs no more introduction, it is afterall what they are famous at. The xiao long bao skin is very thin and the soup in the xiao long bao is really tasty and flavourful. The meat is also juicy and fresh. It is still one of my favourite places to have xiao long bao.
