Worth the Trip to Changi Smile Nov 22, 2013

My friend works near Changi City Point, and whenever we would meet up, she would constantly rave about Table Manners. So, when I found myself at this mall in the east, there was no question on where I would eat... it was Table Manners.

I was there before the dinner crowd started to trickle, which was good. I managed to snag a seat inside the cosy place. While I was deciding on what to order, I couldn't help but notice my surroundings. The whole place was made to look like one's cosy living room. The bookshelves and furniture were accentuated by the glow of the hanging lamps. You can honestly feel easily comfortable there.

When I checked the menu, there were two dishes just glaring at me: the Pasta Al Fungi and the TM ribs. The former was rich and creamy - but it wasn't too heavy on the palate due to the garlic essence. As for the latter, the half serving seemed like a full portion. The meat was tender and tended to fall off the bone. That was how soft it was. It was so good that writing about it makes me want to go to changi and have this for my dinner. I had it with their cocktail and it was superb!

Obvs, Im going back there again.

Had dinner with my friends last night. And of course, I was the one in charge of picking a restaurant again. If no place comes to mind, I always suggest Cedele...so that's where we went to. I love their outlet at Wheelock because it's in town but it's NOT THAT crowded. You can stay there for hours and the waiters won't shoo you away.

Though I wanted to order pasta, I just ordered the Beef Mushroom Sandwich with Caramelised onions. Since I'm also trying to eat healthier I had it with wholegrain bread. Service was quick for me. As for my friend Harold, they gave him a wrong order, so he got free soup together with his pasta. So for that, I would have to commend the restaurant. At least he had something to eat while we were all chowing down our orders.

Anyway, my order didn't look filling but it was. I liked how the beef patty just crumbled when I sliced the sandwich with my knife. And the caramelised onions just made my dinner sweeter!

Try the sandwiches! Smile Oct 30, 2013

Chock Full of Beans ... I've heard so much about it so I just had to go and see what the fuss was all about. So, one Saturday morning, I headed all the way to Changi Village to try their offerings. Take note, I live in the North so it took me more about an hour to get to Changi, plus I had to look for the place under the middday sun...

When I found it, I was starving. Ordered the mango and bacon sandwich. I know people go there for the latte art but it was just so sunny to be drinking warm latte... so I had the smoothie. Ahh... refreshing! it's like I was re-energised after being drained from all the walking.

Up next was the sandwich. It was pretty good. I like how the freshness of the mango complemented the crispy/salty bacon. Overall, I like the combo. =D Maybe next time, when Im in the Changi area, I would head there again....

New Mexican Place at Boat Quay! OK Oct 30, 2013

Categories : Latin American/South American | Mexican | Bars/Lounges

There's a new mexican place at Boat Quay. And being an admirer of tacos, I just had to try that new place. So my colleague and I headed there for lunch. It wasn't hard to find for it was just located along the stretch of bars, pubs, and restos. Once you see that bright yellow tent roof... that's the place!

There were only 3 options at the moment, since they just opened less than a month ago. We ordered the burrito, tacos, and the rice meal. The way you ordered was a step by step process. First thing you had to do was choose which meal you wanted, type of meat, toppings, and those additional toppings. Then you pay at the cashier. For lunch, we had free drinks as part of their lunch special.

My order was the tacos. For $15, i got three small/soft shell tacos with pork. All the juices from the additional toppings just made the shell so soft, and they stuck to the paper. When I tried to pick it up, it ripped. So that was a bummer. And the taste was just average - can be improved, The rice meal had nothing special in it, same with the burrito. Actually, they all tasted the same..

But the good thing about Hombre Cantina was that the owner was getting all of the customers' feedback. So at least, he was able to note down what his brand has to work on... variety and taste.

The day I went to Soup Spoon for lunch, I had a big dinner to attend. And so, I opted for something light just to keep me full until 5pm (my dinner was 630pm). I ordered my usual minestrone soup. I like this because it's a healthier option with all the veggies as ingredients. The quality is pretty consistent, I would say. It also comes with bread!
