coolest cafe OK Nov 30, 2012

It's ok. Hip place, interesting decor, love the space....but......the buts are below:

Latte - I've had better ones. I like my coffee robust and rich. This one is quite there yet. After hearing all the hype, I have to say I am a tad disappointed.

Coffee ale - interesting. It reminds me of a light stout, but not something I'd crave.

Banana cake - probably the best thing here for me. Moist and banana-y.

Good to go if I am in the neighborhood but not enough to make it a destination. It's so popular these days that it is virtually impossible to get a spot indoors. If you come in a group (more than 3 or 4), you probably have to sit out in the yard. Not exactly fun if the weather is hot like these couple of weeks.

hawker centre pub OK Nov 30, 2012

The good beer company is a very special hole-in-the-wall hangout which serves an excellent choice of beer. Vastly different from the many pretentious "breweries" and bars in Singapore, it is situated in a hawker center in the center of Chinatown. A definite must-try , since it provides a unique setting to drink great beer in a very local setting. The only drawback is that the hawker center is well, a hawker center, and on hot days, it does get hot. And let's face it, the hawker center is not exactly representative of SIngapore's clean reputation. But drinking a beer there on a rainy day...ah, there's no place like that.

Finding gems in the rough OK Nov 30, 2012

Little Part One is one of those places you'd only know about by the word of mouth, because it's tucked away in a little corner along Upper Thomson Road next to Thomson Plaza that is easy to miss. it has been open for at least five years now, which is a feat considering the short lifespans of other non-hawker eateries along the road.

I usually come here for a cosy dinner and a bottle of beer. The food here is not remarkable but decent enough, some items I have ordered are the Curry Fries (absolutely delicious), Shepherd's Pie (not bad), Chicken Schnitzel (good) and Pomodoro Chicken Wrap (average). You can choose your poison of choice from the wide selection of beers and ciders. On my last visit, a friend ordered a new cider they had just brought in (can't remember the name but it was strawberry flavoured) and it was good, not overly sweet like most other fruit ciders. My only gripe is that the prices of the food is a bit more expensive than what I would pay for at such a location.

The vibe here is very laid-back and non-pretentious, and feels a bit like a backpacker's cafe with a shelf of travel guides and memorabilia from a number of countries

I have try Korean BBQ before but Kkongdon was the first time.
This Korean modern BBQ with their simple decor was not the usual buffet that was expected. You have to buy the set meal which cost $20++. However the side dish are free flow.
I ordered a set with is a Combe of black pepper beef and pork. The beef was well marinated but a little too spicy for me but the pork was one of the good.
What I like about this place was that the service crew was attentive to the Customer. They will from time to time serve water to us as they know  I was not used to the spicy beef.
Other than the set ordered. We are also served with Korean rice cake and bean paste soup. The Korean rice cake was good and we even try it on grill. lol As for the soup, spicy but tasty.
Overall the place is good for a group outing as it is in a clubhouse. I would recommend it after spending times after activities and have a wholesome meal in this joint.

Fast filling lunch Cry Jul 11, 2013

Categories : American | Bars/Lounges

Jamboree Bar is nestled on the 2nd floor of Orchard Towers. Country music lovers would be pleased to hear old school country music from the likes of Johnny Cash and George Strait. I spent my lunch here as it is near my office one afternoon.I haven't tried many things on the menu, but the classic fish and chip. My co-worker order something else from the set lunch - club sandwich, chicken chop, although I secretly think most of them forced themselves to order only because our boss bring us to this place, LOL! Prices are on the high side, food is average. The Café is always clean and neatly organized. Customer service really depends on who is working. About the food, the cod fish n chips was soggy and the fries equally so. The layers between the breading and the fish would have been a little less mushy. You could get a better fish n chips at a hawker center. If one has a hankerin' for some pretty traditional fish 'n chips, i wont recommend here but on a plus side. It makes for a fast, filling lunch and 1 point up for deco.
