Bear Hand Burger OK Feb 07, 2014

Bear Hand Burger ($4.90)

These cute Bear Hand Burgers come in an assortment of bun flavours (e.g. original, black sugar, oat, milk, durian, pandan etc), sauces (e.g., teriyaki, sour plum, cheese, honey peach etc) and choice between fried or grilled chicken. Sadly, they look better than they taste.

The buns were rather blend and tough. We ordered Original, Milk, Pandan and Black Sugar but all tasted pretty similar. The flavour of the fried chicken patty was not too bad but was a tad too floury. The sauces were pretty standard as well.

A filling treat but not exactly a satisfying one.

More matcha, please OK Feb 02, 2014

Matcha Milkshake

Matcha Milkshake

We tried their Matcha Green Tea milkshake ($5.90 for medium) and found it to be very rich and creamy. The texture was smooth and consistent. However, we could not really taste the matcha as the vanilla base was overpowering and masked the flavour of the matcha.

A sinful indulgence of sugar and cream not for the faint hearted.

Fusion Delight OK Dec 17, 2013

It's been a long while since we last ate at Ma Maison and as we were undecided on our lunch venue, we decided to revisit this quaint little restaurant to satisfy our Western-Japanese cravings.

Tonteki Set ($19.80++)
The Tonteki Set was delicious. The soft tender cutlet blended well with the BBQ sauce and each bite releases a juicy burst of flavours.

Strawberry & Kiwi Tart ($4.80++)
The dessert, however, as a disappointment. This was their promotional item for the day and we could see why. The tart was a little soggy and lacked the buttery fragrance we were expecting. It was also a tad too sweet from what we remember it to be. Hopefully this was only a slip and not a general dip in their dessert quality.

In all, a lovely place with great ambience to spend a lazy weekend afternoon catching up with friends...

Just for desserts OK Dec 06, 2013

As we were around the vicinity running some errands, we decided to drop by MOF for a quick dinner as I was craving for their dessert.

Beef Teriyaki Set ($21.80++)
The Beef Teriyaki Set was average and a little on the pricy end considering the portion and quality served. The beef and cabbage were quite oily, masking its natural fragrance and sweetness.

Crème Brulee ($5.00++)
This place is famous for its dessert for a reason. The Crème Brulee was exceptionally soft, smooth and literally melts in your mouth. Although it was a tad too sweet, the giant scope of sesame gelato was mild enough to balance the overall sweetness.

As with other dessert specialty dining places, it might be a better idea to have your mains elsewhere and drop by for their sweet treats!

Lost and Found OK Oct 15, 2013

Categories : American | Steaks and Grills

It was by sheer coincidence that we spotted Sunset Grill & Bar (which we thought had closed down after a futile search at its former Seletar Air Base location). The husband had been yearning for their spicy wings ever since our first visit almost 4 years back and we were glad we finally found them!

Chicken Wings ($20)
At $20 for 6 wings, it is definitely not pocket friendly! However, the magic lies in the sauce (with varying degree of spiciness)! The sauce base is tangy with a hint of sourness. Depending on the spiciness level ordered, the taste ranges from mild (level 1) to just nice (level 2) to stinging (level 3) to numbing (level 4). The wing itself is pretty average though.

Striploin Steak ($28.80)
The steak was grilled to perfection (though we thought the portion could have been more generous) with a hint of charred fragrance. As for the sides, the vegetables exuded a strong buttery aftertaste.

Overall, this would be a place to occasionally visit to satisfy our craving for spicy wings! Other than that, it's not really worth the price tag and not to mention the accessibility of this location!
