Hiyashi Kamo Soba

Hiyashi Kamo Soba

Hiyashi Kamo Soba $18.80 ( chilled noodle with roast duck & poached egg ). Was feeling hungry and yet want something refreshing so i instantly thought of chilled noodles cause usually can't go too wrong.

Roast duck itself was ok. I find it nothing too special despite being from France! The chilled soba and poached egg was actually more enjoyable. The dressing was good and definitely has the refreshing taste i wanted. Poached egg was done beautifully despite being not in a super pretty presentation.

Soba dishes here so far hasn't disappoint me yet. A trusty brand name i can count on for my soba cravings! =)

Bak Chor Mee

Bak Chor Mee

Any bak chor mee lovers should know about this legendary stall. I used to go often with my family or with one of my aunt who like to bring us here. It's been quite long since my last visit and last month i was quite glad to be able to try it again since i was nearby collecting something.

First time ever i had this for DINNER! Queue was reasonable but still had to wait cause everyone was like getting 2 - 4/5 bowls of noodles. But worth the wait for my yummy bowl of noodles!

I decided to order the smallest serving $5 one. I think i took a pretty good drool worthy picture of my bak chor mee. I requested for extra chilli and vinegar and it's SO SHIOK!! Simply enjoy every mouthful of it. Fresh ingredients really enhanced the enjoyment of my bak chor mee.

Dim Sum Smile Mar 06, 2014

First impression wasn't too good when i first arrived at the reception area! The staff was shouting to the customer on the phone. It was a "oh my god" moment. Waited a while and was usher in to our table.

We ordered the usual items to try first. I can't recall every items but based on the available photos i took, i try my best ok =)

Po Lo Bun - Lovely skin texture for the buns and the char siew filling is nice and moist! Pretty well executed for this dish.

Char Siew Sou - I always love the flaky crisp texture of the skin + the char siew filling. The ones here didn't disappoint.

Carrot Cake with XO Sauce - This one i remembered it was decent but i didn't eat much cause was busy chatting when it arrived on my table.

Mini Egg Tart - This is nice! And being mini size, it's so easy to eat =)

Custard Bun - Judging from my pictures, i don't have to give any caption or description at all. Haha! Just look at the oozing goodness coming from the bun.

Chicken Feet - This is always a must order dish for dim sum! I like it enough to order a second serving.

Zha Leong - Fried dough stick wrapped with chee cheong fan. Not everywhere has this but seems to be gradually getting more popular. I find this ok, no wow factor though.

Overall, dim sum is rather good. Taste wise may be slightly on the saltier side! Price is of cause on the higher side too. Personally i thought service can be improve cause they seems to be rushing around and also not much smiles on their face. Maybe i'm not atas enough so not keen to entertain me. Haha

Sesame Paste with Rice Balls Smile Mar 05, 2014

For chinese dessert, black sesame pasta is one of my favourite and occasionally i will like to include "tang yuan" into it.

Last month during the Valentine's Day was also "Dong Zi" so after my facial, i decided to get some desserts home to enjoy with family. It was a great chance to get my favourite dessert too.

For hot dessert, please enjoy it while it's hot then it's nice! I was enjoying my black sesame paste which has a very fragrant and smooth texture. The tang yuan filling was sesame too so i was secretly feeling very happy when i took my first bite. Look at the yummy black sesame paste oozing out from the tan yuan, super shiok!

Now as i write this review, i start to have cravings again! Haha!

Mentaiko Pasta Smile Mar 05, 2014

Heard so much about the mentaiko pasta from friends and see so much (pictures), thanks to social media! Was quite glad to come here finally during my CNY break cause i always find the location a bit out for me as i don't drive.

For my first visit, i decide to go ahead and just try the mentaiko pasta since it's the signature dish plus i love pasta anyway =)

It looks lovely when they served me the dish. For $18, i find the portion ok! The pasta was cooked to perfection in an al dente way, nice and not too creamy presentation with a gorgeous amount of mentaiko as the topping. Mix everything together and you get a perfect formula.

Strongly recommend this if it's your first visit. I ended my meal with a cup of flat white! Day well spent =)
