Ala Carte Buffet Dinner OK Mar 02, 2014

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Teochew

I've won some Orchard Central vouchers so brought my family here for dinner treat. After looking through the menu, everyone decided to try out the ala carte buffet dinner since price was rather reasonable.

There was a short list of items which limit to one serving per pax. Just these alone can make my parents and grandma pretty full. They are not big eaters and yet like variety. Haha!

But we still order other dishes on the menu to try. Overall i wasn't too impressed as it tasted pretty normal and nothing too special.

If you like ala carte buffet style and don't mind paying more, i strongly recommend Tung Lok which is on the same level. The range of food is better and tastier, service is pretty good so definitely more worth it despite higher price. You do pay for quality based on price

Mookata Smile Mar 02, 2014

After my first Mookata experience, i grew to like it. But it's rather unhealthy so i try not to have it too often. Haha! But once in a while indulgence, i like ^_^

From 8 Days, i got to know about Charcoal Thai. Since it's rather convenient and near so i came here yesterday for dinner.

For $39.90 per set, we chose vegetable soup for our mookata. At first glance, the portion don't look big but end up we couldn't finish and still had some meat left.

For those who had mookata before will know the BBQ part will get burned at a certain point. My experience at Spicy Thai Thai at Aljunied was my meat can get burned easily if i didn't take note during the BBQ part. But at Charcoal Thai my meat don't have much burnt parts so it's a plus point!

The only bad point is the service cause kind of hard to get their attention. My 2nd glass of iced water took forever to come and until i paid my bills and left, still no sight of it. Ha!

Place not very big and i took outdoor seats ( only 2 tables ) which i think it's better, more cooling ( but nice only if no smokers around ).

Sandwich Dinner Smile Feb 27, 2014

This was only my 2nd time trying Quiznos despite now having one outlet that's very near me. Hehe! Recently met my best friend for dinner here and i went straight for the Premium Beef Subs ( Zesty Grilled Steak ) 6" $7.50. You can top up $2.90 to make it a combo ( i opt for small drink + soup : chicken noodles ).

I loved my choice of Zesty Grilled Steak! I like the choice of the whole combination as i get to enjoy my meat with a good balance of veges + a yummy dressing. The toasted parmesan bread was just nice and really made every bite a very enjoyable one.

For soup, they only have 2 choices - broccoli cheese and chicken noodles which i've tried both and i really like it.

For Quiznos, it feels better than Subway. Like a slightly more atas choice! Haha.... Think it's time to plan another visit soon =)

Western Food Dinner Smile Feb 18, 2014

Categories : Japanese | Food Court

Never heard about this western food stall until recently when my friend asked me along to try it. We went to the Bedok branch and business was very good! We joined in the queue to place our order and both my friend and i decided to try out the fish for this visit.

While waiting for them to prepare our dinner, i went to their website and realized they have quite a few other branches and Hougang one is still rather convenient for me.

Food arrived and i can't wait to tuck in! I had grilled fish with black pepper sauce + spaghetti while my friend opt for salmon with mango + spaghetti. For mine, fish was fresh and goes well with the black pepper sauce, spaghetti portion seems small at first but was actually ok ( i was quite hungry to begin with ). I love the salad that comes with it. Corn was ok but it be better if it has more crunch for the texture. Feedback from my friend for her salmon was good too!

I will definitely want to try out other items especially the steak! Looks really good when i saw other customers having it. Drooling lots! Haha

Dinner Smile Feb 13, 2014

Categories : French | Japanese | Fusion

What first got my attention is definitely the decor of the whole place. I love the colourful chairs but i realized i knocked my hands easily when i was sitting down. Haha

I had the Riz Au Curry $14.8 : Baked rice with homemade Japanese curry, pork frankfurters, broccoli cheese and egg. This was pretty good with nice flavor.

Up next is the signature French Toast which is very popular! I've been wanting to try it for a long time and it's really good! The french toast goes really well with the whipped cream and i was really enjoying this delicious treat! But i saw from some pictures online that it was drizzled with maple syrup or something but i don't have it. But it's still good so i'm a satisfied customer. Maybe i will double check for my next visit ^_^
