Appetizer : Citus Salmon with Green Apple

I had meal at Cafe Brio, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. I was my first time at this place and the cafe was cosy. It was not crowded. I had the following for my meals : Citrus Salmon with Green Apples. The salmon was fresh and good well with the soury green apple. The next dish was the Butternut creamy soup with Boston Lobster. The soup was thick with butter cream and little scrip of lobster to go with the soup. The main course was the roasted duck breast and grilled quail served with potatos and baby vegetable. The duck is a red meat and the little carbohydrate is used to allow diner to finish it. The dessert served was chocolate pistachi mille-feuille sauterned wine jelly with Berries compote and lemon sorbet. A good meal is completed with little glass of wine and with chocolate. That is a wonderful combination of the menu.

Won a $50 food voucher from Red House Seafood and only restricted meal at robertson Quay. What to order for 2 persons is not easy and keeping to the limit of $50. I went through the menu and to order fried rice costs $14 and it is too easy to exhaust the $50 voucher.

To maximise the $50 and able to enjoy the most dishes, I ordered Yu Tian $8, Beef Fillet $16, Thai Chicken $14, add 2 bowls of plain rice at $1/each. Together with the tea/water/towel amounted to $3.80 and the final bill added to $51.30. This means we pay $1.30.

The place is cosy as it is near to the riverside. The restaurant gets crowded towards the later evening. The waitress is proactive to clear the plate

The dishes are tasty, not oily not for the Yu Tiao.

I attended an opening and the host served the guests with meals catered from Friends Alley. Friends Alley Catering is a boutique halal caterer formed by the Amici Group. There were wide varieties such as salad, peine friend rice cashew nuts, wild mushroom Aglio Olio, dory with Lemon Butter Sauce, Trio Mushroom with Vegetables, Barbeque Mid Joint Wing, Bean Curd with Fresh Crabmeat, Golden Cereal King Prawn, Santee Potatoes with Rosemary & Herbs and 4 Season Cold Platter. As for the dessert, the guests were spoilt with Almond Jelly Grapes, Strawberries & Longon, Coconut Custard Egg Pudding, Assorted Mini Fresh Pastry.

I enjoyed the meal as the food presentation attracted me with the good combination of colours. Between the fried rice and wild mushroom Aglio Olio, I prefer the Wild Mushroom Aglio Olio as it is has blend with olive oil. The fried rice is dry.

Between the seafood, Dory and prawn, prawn is the better choice. The prawn is fresh and big.

For the vegetables, trio mushroom and bean curd. Both are equally good. Given to rank, I will put mushroom first place.

The chicken is not interesting as there is not much meat for the mid joint. Instead the santee potatoes is a good to eat.

As for the desset, they are wonderful, the portion is not too big nor small. A little bit of everything will satisfy the sweet
tooth diner.

Rojak Smile Oct 17, 2013

I was at Toa Payoh HDB Hub and saw the longest bee-hive line is the Soon Heng Rojak. I have heard about its cheapest rojak and decided to join the fun of lining up. The cheaptest is $2.50 and it is quite a large portion. It has the basic ingredients of rojak and what surprise me is the generous spread of peanut. With the wide spread of peanut, it makes the rojak aromatic. The taste is to salty. The vegetable is sufficient.

Mango Juice Drink Smile Oct 14, 2013   (Related Review)

I had my first raspbery drink sometime last Sep. Again, I was at Paragon. I need a drink to quench my thrist. As I had tried raspberry drink, I thought to a give Mango a go. I ordered the drink. As usual, the store is crowd and customers are occupied the seat to do their tutorial. The queue was maintainable this time partially because of the cold weather that afternoon.

When my drink was served, I love the orange coloured. The colour is strong and lovely. The taste was better than raspberry. It is not sweet and it was perfect.
