this is our third visit to this cosy, tiny shop opened by a Japanese. the gyozas fillings are freshly prepared in the shop as per our personal scrutization..hehe..as we like the gyozas, we usually order 3 sets to share between two persons, and i dont really remember how much is one set, but u get 6 pieces in one set..prob not more than $5 per set.

the gyoza skin is thin but doesnt stick to your teeth since they arrived piping hot. the juicy filling fills your mouth with sweet aroma taste of the minced pork.

the gyozas are pan fried as and when the customers ordered. Pay at the cashier and take a number. the gyozas will be served to u when its ready. the place is rather small like most easteries in japan. so do leave swiftly after u finish your food to let new customers in as such places are not suitable for chitchatting after meals.

when writing this review, i realised that the total bill ($70 for 5 adults) was quite dear actually, considering the type of food we ordered. we must be super hungry not to notice the price, perhaps?

the menu is simple and limited. the restaurant is ran by an indonesian couple. the lady boss came over to recommend some popular dishes to us. there were 5 of us and we ordered fried black pomfret, 2 sets of ayam penyet, sambal kangkong, tom yam soup, fried egg, otak, tahu goreng. the quality of each dish varies, made us wonder which chef was in a bad mood and were the chefs fighting in the kitchen when preparing the dishes?

the soup was alright, the black pomfret doesnt have enough to go around the table, the fish meat wasnt firm, might be frozen for a few days already. the otak was probably one of the nicest amongst the dishes. other than that, nothing memorable to make you wanna come back for more.

december is a season to eat play and be merry, so we decided to give this restaurant a try and see if it will become one of our fave japanese restaurant. we ordered sashimi, stir fry beef, tempura, california temaki, spicy avocado maki, yakitori (chicken, mushroom, bacon roll), chawanmushi and chicken cutlet curry rice. the sushi rice tasted hard and not easy to chew (not sure if air got into the sushi rice without proper coverage..)the ingredients on the sushi, temakis werent as fresh as we thought it should be , since the chefs prepared them as and well its being ordered. overall, the buffet is nothing to be impressed with. if u want quantity over quality, this place might work fine for you.

this is one ice cream place that you wouldnt want to miss if you are a ice cream lover. if u are a true blue durian lover, u will love the D24 or Maoshan King Durian. if not u can go for caramel salt, or stick to safe old strawberry, cookies and cream, chocolate, soursop, lychee..the flavours changed everyday and u can taste the real fruits/chunks of macadamia nuts...the daily lunchtime promo sees icrecream for $3 (except for durians - should be $3.50)

its a good place to go when u are feeling down or in need of a perk me up. the nice waffle aroma makes me feel as if i m in a gingerbread house, sans the decor. the shop aunties made the ice cream cones from scratch everyday.
