The first interesting fact that caught our attention is the entrance. Shattered glass door and even trying to tempt you to break the glass door if you are in need of food. So now, can you imagine how many people have come to The Udder Pancake in verge of hunger? Just saying if this is real...
The Udder Pancake has a lot of other interesting decorations inside, and how amazing it is for the team to have come up with such ideas.
Of course, if you are craving for ice creams, it is readily available next door, which mentioned earlier is inter-connected. Ice creams can also be brought over to The Udder Pancake unit for consumption too.
Mango Kaffir Lime Leaves is sweet and thick, and partially due to a mango-lover I am, I find it a refreshing drink. For the Strong Iced Lemon Tea, it comes with a small serving of melted sugar for preferential adding to the drink. Elderflower Gummy Bears is one drink that I had my doubts for. It was only someone in our group ordered this and comment its quite good, did I proceed to counter to order a second drink for myself. Yes, the gummy bears are hard but still chew-able as they are soaked in the drink. The fizzy soda water is also the reason I had my second drink drank to empty.
The Udder Wings ($7.90) is made up of petite mind-joint chicken wings, deep fried, and served with sweet & sour Thai chilli sauce. I wouldn't say it's amazingly delicious, but just passable.
The Udder Shrooms ($12.90) made of crunchy deep-fried bacon-wrapped white button mushrooms, served with bacon chipotle mayo. We didn't really quite enjoy this side dish, and I would gladly opt for the The Udder Wings if I had to choose between them.
Another dish that I will try not to miss out, is the Salted Egg Yolk Fries ($9.90). Thick-cut fries topped with salted egg yolk sauce, curry leaves, chilli flakes and toasted butter sugar cereal.
It tasted like something like cereal prawns, but with the salted egg yolk sauce that managed to pull me back from thinking I'm at a tze-char stall.
Pulled Pork Fries ($12.90) is shoestring fries topped with bourbon barbecue pulled pork collar with warm melted cheddar cheese, lime sour cream, sliced shallots, Jalapeno and chives.
All The Udder Pancake's mains comprises of 4 pieces of pancake and other ingredients, depending on your order. The pancakes are mini-sized, probably 3/4 or 1/2 of the usual MacDonald Hotcakes.
Salmon, Crab & Caviar Egg Benedict ($16.90 for half, $24.90 for full) consists of poached egg with citrus hollandaise, smoked salmon, crab claw meat and ebiko slaw on grilled cheddar cheese pancakes. Also topped with lumpfish caviar and fresh dill.
The cheese pancakes are quite special, tickling my taste bud which opens up my appetite. Honestly speaking, it doesn't look very appetizing because of the soggy and mushy fillings topped by the poached egg, but I didn't hesitate to finish the entire portion after my first mouth.
Honey-Glazed Herbed Chicken ($14.90) has the boneless chicken marinated with paprika and rosemary, being honey glazed and flame grilled. Just the look of the boneless chicken, I can still imagine how juicy and delectable it was.

Canton Paradise Smile Sep 21, 2015

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum

For more details, please read http://www.foodesteem.com/2015/09/canton-paradise.html
I have been other outlets managed under Paradise Group, but to Canton Paradise, this was still my first. Canton Paradise focus on the Cantonese popular delights, such as the roast meat and dim sum, as though bringing you to Hong Kong.
One of Canton Paradise must-order is the BBQ Pork Belly with Honey Sauce. But not wanting to miss out on the all-time favorite, Kampong Chicken, we ordered the BBQ Combination ($18.80 for 2 varieties) that comes in either 2 or 3 varieties.
We had actually wanted the normal BBQ Pork with Honey Sauce and the Steamed Kampong Chicken in Canton Style, but was strongly recommended by the crew to try their BBQ Pork Belly with Honey Sauce. It can be sinful to the health-conscious people, but it is really good. Every bite I took made me lick my lips clear of the sweet honey sauce and enjoying the tenderness of the pork belly. Their Steamed Kampong Chicken in Canton Style is nowhere inferior to the BBQ Pork Belly too.
Steamed "Ling Zhi" Spring Water Tofu with Minced Pork and Salted Fish ($13.80). Three big pieces of wobbly tofu, with salted fish mashed and mixed with the minced meat to steam. I am glad that the taste of salted fish is quite mild, and thus able to enjoy the tofu and minced meat without a stain of detestation.
Crisp Fried Crystal Prawns tossed with Salted Egg Yolk ($18.80). I had several occurrences with dishes cooked with salted egg yolk, and I would say this dish does meet my expectation. Taste of salted egg has subtly merged with the prawns, and thus making this entire dish enjoyable instead of feeling like eating salted egg yolk and fried prawns separately.

Strangers' Reunion Smile Aug 29, 2015

Categories : Café | Desserts and Cakes | Brunch

For more details, please visit http://www.foodesteem.com/2015/08/strangers-reunion.html

Strangers' Reunion does serve a variety of food, and also on the growing trend healthy eating, yogurt is also available in the menu, if you looking for something light, unfailing your diet routine.
Cafe Latte. As mentioned earlier, aromatic smell of the coffees in Strangers' Reunion is sure to perk you up! While I am not much of a coffee drinker, my companion does agree with the mass that the coffee here is definitely to-order-for.
House Smoked Salmon Benedict with hazelnut bearnaise, fera, walnut crumble, petit salad & sultana bread. Generous serving of salmon slices and a pair of oozy egg benedicts. Both of these items have made up a wonderful brunch already.
Truffle Fries. I admit that the price is steeper than what you would normally expect in other cafes, and I do feel the ache too. Despite the price, it has a strong truffle smell, and the serving is deem suitable to be shared among 2 pax as a side dish.
Another recommendation in Strangers' Reunion is their buttermilk waffles! Buttermilk Waffles with Homemade Mixed Berry Compote, with choice of either Greek yogurt or vanilla ice cream. I had of course, opt for the Greek yogurt, as ice cream is too commonly used in other cafes.
Strangers' Reunion waffles are crispy on the outer, but fluffy in the inside. This enable the yogurt and berry sauce to get soak into the waffle when dabbed, allowing the sweetness not just on the outside.
We went around 3 plus in the late afternoon, but the cafe is still pretty packed. Although each of the crew are busy, they do also diligently attend to your requests when requested. Service is definitely up to mark.

Fine Dining in Sentosa Smile Aug 15, 2015

For more details, please visit http://www.foodesteem.com/2015/08/illido-italian-dining.html
Porcini Mushroom Foam is not some creamy soup, as read from the name. Its foamy appearance comes with the slight mushroom taste that lingers in your mouth before the next course comes along. What I like about this is the tender taste which is not too strong, but just the action to tickle your taste bud and crave for the next dish.
Not in the set menu, complimentary Cheese Risotto Balls from the chef. It's still warm and the cheesy taste although does not flow from the bite of it, but if you are cheese-lover, this could really make you happy.
Cream of Asparagus with Truffle, which is not really my type of taste. I love asparagus, but the idea of mashing it into creamy soup does not goes well with me. But my companion likes it a lot, especially if you are a truffle lover.
Parma Ham with Artisan Burrata. I love the creation of burrata which shaped like an egg, but slicing it open ooze out not yolk, but a mixture of mozzarella cheese and cream. This Italian cheese is not those kind of thick and cheesy type like the "Cheese Fries" we have in KFC, and thus compliment well with the parma ham.
Pumpkin Tortelli with Truffle Bagna Cauda. Can't really make out the semi-transparent golden sheen, but the bottom lays something like greenish dumplings that are stuffed with boiled pumpkin. I am not a pumpkin lover and I do really hate pumpkin at some point of my life, but this is totally just suitable for me. Pumpkin is not too strong, though of course the sweetness of the pumpkin is still there.
Tagliolini with Crab, Amalfi Lemon and Tarragon. It look nice in picture and presentation, but I couldn't really stand the strong fishy taste that I seem to taste out of it. Well, at least my companion is likes it a lot.
Seabass with Caciucco and Herb Dumplings. In my opinion, a dish of fish is excellent when the meat itself is soft and silky-like, and able to absorb well of the sauce that it comes with.
Bone Marrow Crusted Angus Beef Tenderloin, Heirloom Carrots. I wasn't asked how well I would prefer, and it seems to be more like medium-rare. Although it has been a long time I had a medium-rare beef, its juicy meat with a dab of the pumpkin cream complement well.
Hazelnut Coulant with Spiced Chocolate Gelato. Molten cake that contained dark bitter chocolate which will flow out when sliced open. This dessert is not bad in general, but the bitter taste is a tad strong.
Roasted Strawberries with Vanilla & Yogurt Semifreddo. Among the two desserts in the weekend lunch menu, this is my favorite. This simple yet elegant presentation is not only pretty in looks, but also tasty in mouth. Sweetness of the strawberries and sourness of the semi-frozen ice cream cakes literate a well-balanced dessert to end the meal.

"Farm" dining Smile Aug 07, 2015

For mo
Poison Ivy Bistro is a Halal bistro, thus very suitable for Muslims to dine there as well. If you are expecting western-style food, you might in for a disappointment, as they serve more to local-Indian cuisine.
I was surprised to see this makeshift paper-crafted "dustbin", which I will usually see back home. Well, at least you do not have to feel bad about making the tables dirty, or having your plates filled with bones instead of yummylicious food!
Warrior's Platter ($20.00 for 2pax). A total of 6 items, namely Warrior's Chix Curry, Asam Pedas Fish, Tofu with Black Sauce & Mushroom, Chap Chye, Bollywing, and Tempura. All items are served in small portion, but can be filling before you knew it.
The Warrior's Platter also come with a bowl of brown rice, clearly displaying 2 portions for 2 pax.
Banana Curry ($10.00). I just couldn't take my craving off this item as it seem so unique? I was thinking the curry will be cooked with banana fruit, but no. Basically a sweetened curry with potatoes.
KangKong with Garlic ($8.00). Chopped KangKong? This is one of its kind though. Its crunchiness retains while chopped to look like spring onions. You can opt for the spicy version if you like for the same price, but we decided to go on something lighter.
Bollywood Dessert Special ($4.00). It consists of a small portion of banana cake, and a cup of vanilla ice cream with what-seems like maple syrup as the sauce.
