What attracted me was their blue interior lighting that stood out among the shops beside. But being extremely full from dinner, I made it a point to return another day. Ice Cube Cafe's menu covers from waffles to mains like spaghetti, finger food, ice cream, mudpies, sundaes, and drinks too. Never expect Ice Cube Cafe to provide more than ice creams before I saw the menu. It indeed caught me by surprise, and keep me to ponder for some time over the finger food section. Ice cream flavors are displayed beside the cashier. With around 10 flavors in total, I think that Ice Cube Cafe needs to inject more interesting flavors to garner more curiosity of others. Chocoholics Anonymous ($11.90) used chocolate ice cream, topped with chocolate fudge, ferrero rocher and toasted almond flakes. This is unlike the usual mudpies we get outside, made through baking. Thick block of strong chocolate ice cream taste, with several toppings make it a simple ice cream dessert for kids, perhaps less messy than eating from a cone. Waffle with Ice Cream ($8.90). It comes with a single scoop of ice cream and a choice of waffle syrup, where additional scoop of ice cream is priced at $3.00. I chose Maple Walnut as my ice cream flavor, and Mango Puree for my choice of waffle syrup. It seems like a weird combination, and I'm pretty puzzled too when I'm back at my seat. Ice cream lack of flavor, not sure if it’s due to the strong chocolate flavor before this, and thus canvas the mild taste of maple walnut ice cream. Mango Puree will be more on the sour side, but still a great sauce to go with the waffle. Waffle would be great if it can be crispier and syrup can be given a little more, else it's just a plain butter-ry waffle you are eating. Ice Cube Cafe seems to dwell more on cakes for occasions and desserts as well. The finger food and mains looks tempting, and it gives me a definite reason to return again for it. Their sundaes looks promising too, so hopefully it will be as good as the mudpie I had. For my dining, we ordered Forlino Classic Set Menu ($108.00), and an extra main course and dessert. We also ordered a bottle of Surgiva Sparkling Water ($9.00), which I prefer distilled water over the former. Amuse Bouche is usually a single bite-sized complimentary course served by chef to give diners an idea of the approach chef has taken in his cooking. Forlino's amuse bouche has also indeed taken us further in anticipating better courses to come! Classic Set Menu: Pan Fried Foie Gras. It is similar to the ala-carte under Appetizers section, Fegato Grasso ($36.00). It has wild rocket salad, balsamic cream, and homemade panettone. First of all, I am not a fan nor a dis-liker for foie gras. Forlino has prepared their foie gras perfectly well, being a little crispy and mushy fats, almost melting in my mouth. Classic Set Menu: Homemade Chitarra Spaghetti, similar to ala-carte under Homemade Pasta and Risotto section, Spaghetti alla Chitarra ($36.00). It consists of octopus, arrabbiata spicy tomato sauce, water spinach, and Sardinian bottarga. Classic Set Menu: Pan Fried Fillet of Cod Fish wrapped in Parma Prosciutto, similar to ala-carte under Piatti principali section, Merluzzo ($42.00). Besides the cod fish, it also comes with baby cuttlefish in black ink, white polenta and zucchini Flower. Cod fish is my favorite fish of all, in terms of eating it. It is soft and can almost slide through your throat when swallowing. Forlino did not disappoint me with the cod fish. Their cuttlefish does not have the fishy seafood taste as you chew, and the combination of polenta (cornmeal boiled into a porridge) with the cod fish is just delicious. Classic Set Menu: Ivoire White Chocolate Mousse, also in ala-carte under Dessert section ($15.00). Directly ordered something out of the set menu, Duet of Angus Beef ($68.00). One of the best I had, consisting of braised short rib ‘brasato’ and tenderloin ‘rossini’ foie gras, marsala wine sauce, and ricotta spinach raviolone. Forlino's pair of beef short ribs is just so tender, although I wasn't asked how well I would like it to be. I enjoyed every bit I took, sampling the sauce absorbed and the tenderness of the meat as I chewed. Forlino's raviolone gave me the initial image of what one will see in some "bak chor mee" stalls. Something like a flat piece of dough, and a mini portion of minced meat enclosed in the middle? In any case, I am quite picky when it comes to vegetable type that I consume, and luckily spinach is one of those I favor, unlike celery. Another dessert, but ordered directly from the ala-carte menu again, Coconut Panna Cotta ($15.00), with pineapple confit, moscato jelly and passion fruit. Instead of walking to the stores to order the ramen of your choice, they have a menu with all food items from different stores collated into one, and you can place your order with any available crew. Mentaiko Gyoza ($7.60) which is a great option! Thick skin that firmly wrapped the soft filling which you can easily chew and swallow. Tebasaki ($9.50) comes with 4 pieces which can easily be shared or eaten by oneself. Crispy skin and juicy meat beneath is just marvelous! Taking back what I mentioned earlier, I think if you love chicken wings, sharing might not be an option after all. For Shabu Shabu Set, we had the Set A worth $59.00, sufficient for sharing between 4 pax. Supposed to have pork loin and belly, beef loin, chicken, assorted vegetables, seafood platter, and a choice of ramen or udon. We had the beef changed to chicken sausage though. We had two soup bases, which are Paitan (white broth) and Tom Yum. One is sweet while another is spicy, perfect combination to thrill your tastebud! The initial taste of Paitan can be quite bland, but as usual, soup of steamboat will get thicker and stronger in taste as food are put in to cook. Well, good things come last. A bowl of Seafood Platter such as clams, salmon, prawns, crabsticks and fishballs. Of course, a bowl Udon rather than ramen due to personal preference. As promised in the menu, we also have the Chicken Box, thinly sliced Pork Loin and Pork Belly for easier cooking. Soup is re-fillable upon request, and you just have to enjoy the boiling of your raw food and dip with the sauces for some meal-satisfying moment. Do remember to taste a few sipd of the soup towards the mid and end of the soup which will be truly "slurpingly" good to drink on! Ramen Champion's Shau Shabu is arranged in a set in the consideration of diner's health such as overbinging and feeling sleepy after a stuffing meal of delicious food. While you may not necesary be in a group of 3-4 pax to try out the Shabu Shabu, Ramen Champion also serve the sets suitable for 2 pax and 3 pax for $29.00 and $47.00 respectively. Outdoor area is to accommodate the pub-goers for a drink and chat, while interior is more suitable for a cozy meal, as well as a romantic dinner with your partner. Not an alcoholic drinker, we had the mocktails, Shirley Temple ($5.00) and Fruit Punch ($5.00). Both are thirst-quenching drinks and sweetness is being balanced out for a soothing drink among the meals. Grilled Watermelon ($12.00). Recommended appetizer which uses fresh watermelon and roasted till sweet, with topped with parma ham and based with rocket salad. The striking combination of fruit and ham does give me a sense of doubt for the taste it might produce, but I took back my thought. Juicy and sweet watermelon, topped with parma ham that comes a little on the salty side goes perfectly fine! One of Stirling's signatures, Crispy King Salmon ($23.00) topped up fork crushed potato, creamy dill and leek sauce. Crispy salmon skin is the highlight of the dish, which we don't usually get it in other places, and salmon is cooked to perfect, not making the salmon too dry up for enjoyment. Another signature of Stirling, Gentleman's Cut ($38.00 for 300g). Between the choice of sirloin or ribeye, steak comes with avocado butter and in-house seasoning. For a balanced meal, it also comes with a portion of sauteed mix vegetable and truffle fries is not to be left out for a complete meal. I requested for a rare-done which I enjoyed it! 75% redness through the centre, the meat is soft and juicy. If you are steak-eater, and similarly like your steak to be rare done, Stirling should be in your list. Truffle Fries ($7.00). Truffle Fries is a common item in most cafes, but what makes Stirling's version striking is that each fries are equally tossed with truffle oil, salt and pepper, thus every inch of the fries gets "tagged" with truffle taste. Cheesy Risotto Balls ($5.00). As the name describe, the bite into the ball will release the cheese into your mouth. Not the flowing cheese like custard bun, but Stirling is pretty generous with the cheese, and the crispy outer add on to the overall experience. In order to secure a seat, you will need to ensure all diners are present before being guided to a table. They do have a salad bar which is free-flow, but consisting of only 3 items. For your information, if you are kimchi lover, this salad bar could you be your favorite section of all. Order will be taken during the queue, and order chit will be given to you for passing to the counter staff prior to seat allocation. Soft drinks, Mug ($2.90). They also provide a flask of iced water too, if you are wondering. Marinated Chicken Galbi Fried Rice ($14.90/pax). Crew will start serving you with an enormous pan with the marinated chicken, dokboki and spring onions, as well as the rice and mozzarella cheese on separate plates. Crew will start frying the marinated chicken, dokboki and spring onions which are already on the pan, before pouring in the rice and seasonings. It's a little spicy, but every spoon of the fried rice fills your mouth with the spicy yet sweet taste. Marinated Chicken Stew ($16.90). This is almost the same as Marinated Chicken Galbi Fried Rice, except that this came with noodles and stew, and a sweeter version. An alternative for those who prefer more of soup base. Egg Roll with cheese ($11.90). Decorated with tomato sauce, we opt for the cheese version, whereas non-cheese version costs $9.90 only. Egg roll is cooked perfectly, giving it a moist and bouncy texture, with cheese to add on to the rather bland eggy taste.
