Communal cafe Smile Mar 19, 2014

It isn't a spacious place, and more like a communal place, where people can sit together, have a chat and do some reading or school work..

We ordered Houjicha Karigane Cold Brew ($6.00), Iced Latte ($5.50), and Freshly Squeezed Orange + Grapefruit Mixed Juice ($6.00) for drinks.

I didn't get to try the Houjicha, but received feedback that it is bland, and almost tasted like plain water? Iced Latte is pretty good, and so is the Mixed Juice smile

Menu is "Pte Ltd" kind. Say like, only 8 items to choose from (excluding pastries) in the day, and 9 items for dinner menu. Even so, we took a long time to decide on our food.....

Toast with Cashew Butter and Jams ($4.00). A pair of toast for this price is definitely not worth it, and not what we have expected it to be. But, their bread is really awesome!

Banana Nutella Panini ($5.00). We believed this can be easily made from home, which is sandwiching banana and nutella in between. Or perhaps anything that goes with nutella can never go wrong? lol

Beef Pastrami, Brie and Whole Grain Mustard ($9.00). Another to-go for item! I am glad I chose this for my main smile

Their sandwiches seem satisfying, where the downturn is their "super" limited menu. But this place is a definite place to relax, sit back with your laptop or devices while enjoying a plate of pastries or a cup of drink to spend your time away smile

Relaxed brunch by Haji Lane Smile Aug 25, 2013

Beef Sausage Omelette

Newly opened cafe in Haji Lane, CAD Cafe, which means Coffee, Art, and Design smile

They have indoor and outdoor seatings, where tables are those wood-made type, and chairs by the entrance are seats wrapped with gunny sacks!

Indoor isn't spacious, yet parade various art and design works from international-renowned artists to local upcoming and student works.

Drinks we has the Latte ($5.00), and Latte Noisette. If you are not sure of the content level, they have a chart by the cashier for your viewing smile

Based on their recommendation, we had the CAD Florentine! Having toast, egg benedict, smoked salmon, and spinach. The taste is marvelous, especially the smoked salmon lol

Another "into-stomach" recommendation is their Beef Sausage Omelette. It has toast, spinach, and beef sausage, red capsicum, and cherry tomatoes wrapped within the omelette. Beef sausage is a little spicy with peppery taste, and I can't stop fork-ing it into my mouth tongue

Unlike other places, their ice-water have lemon, orange, and mint! It's no wonder I had this refreshed feel after having a sip of it lol

If you craved for a drink at night, this is a new spot as they opened till quite late, and quite a cosy place to relax in this small cafe, drinking on your beers.

Went to tried their breakfast specials, and I do love it. but sadly, only valid for a limited period only, till July!

They have 4 specials, which comes with 2 poached eggs on 2 slices of soft tasted bread. We had the Egg Florentine ($12.50) and Egg Salmon & Asparagus ($14.00). It was delicious and yummy. Yolks are not too oozy, thus less the messy plate, and salmon is awesome.

Also had sides like hand-cut calamari, mozzarella fritters, and also battered mushroom.

For more details, please visit http://foodesteem.blogspot.com/2013/05/ramen-keisuke-tori-king.html

Ramen Keisuke Tori King Ramen is actually another branch, similar to Tonkotsu King Ramen, which is a few hundred metres away. And according to hearsays, both are yummy, but Keisuke seems to win more tummy over? Basically, Keisuke is more on chicken meat, whereas Tonkotsu is more on pork.

A very small restaurant, which totally matches with the shop space at Tonkotsu too. The highest price it can go up to is $16.90, excluding gst and tax. It has a menu that comprises 3 types of soup, and I specifically prefer black spicy tori king. What I like about them is that I get to so-called "customize" my ramen to my liking. If there are any people not a fan of wasabi, do not go for the green spicy column. Because you will not be able to enjoy your soup, and I had to take each sip of my ramen and soup slowly to prevvent myself from choking due to the pungent taste of wasabi!

For those who likes to instagram their food, etc. probably you might want to go for the most expensive at the bottom of each column, as it comes with a large seaweed! But I think that the seaweed is not crispy at all. I like their cold-marinated beansprouts and theirhard-boiled eggs, which are free-flow!

We were there for lunch, but apparently there isn't a crowd in the weekend, perhaps due to the sunny weather, and most of the shops are still not open for business. So this helped us to decide on Just The Place soon enough, and with the visible guide of the only crowd in there.
Just The Place is more like a pub for drinkers to mingle and even have a decent European meal. Their menu consists of starters, pizzas, pastas, finger food, seafood and meat. They also have brunch section in the menu, but have to note that it is only available during the weekends.
Just The Place's Iced Lemon Tea ($3.50/glass). Not something an average kid will accept, because of the substantial bitter taste.
Just Platter ($19.90), consists of truffle fries, cajun mid wings, crispy prawn twisties, and sweet potato croquettes. Other than the mild-taste of truffle in the truffle fries, overall is quite well-paid for. If you are a seafood-y person, Just The Place also serves Seafood Platter ($22.90).
Pan-fried Herbed Boneless Chicken with Mushroom Sauce ($18.90). I had expected to have a small piece of chicken, with just a simple gesture of dripping the herbal taste of mushroom sauce on it. But what came was a delightful plate of herbed-taste chicken! Without the mushroom sauce the chicken meat is already good enough for me eat without sharing at all.
Prawn Aglio Olio ($18.90). I am a rice-type of person, so I'm not sure of the pastas here is that good, or just average. I love the tough yet tasty aglio olio, not like those coffee shop noodles we had.
It has a great view, overlooking the sea where opposite lies our close neighbour. The most convenient way of getting there is still by car or a bus. Of course, other than eating, it has also a park and is one of the popular place for a family gathering.
