I have known and been to this area, Thomson, for years, but not even once I took notice of this building called Thomson V Two. It is kind of like a hidden gem where it houses several cafes in this humble site. Needless to say, with the numerous sprouting along the main road of Upper Thomson Road, Thomson V Two can easily be forgotten. Wooden furniture, and music and brewing coffee as companion, it is indeed a cosy cafe to dine at. This rugged feel tend to make me feel at home, always Oven-Baked Salmon ($20.00): Herbs-marinated Salmon with cauliflowers and baby carrots. This main is not well-received by us because the salmon fillets, the highlight, are over-cooked. The meat does not fall off nicely upon slicing, and is a tad tough. All Day Breakfast: Big Breakfast ($20.00): consisting of scrambled eggs with bacon, gourmet pork sausage, gourmet york ham, premium smoked ham, tomato and mushroom. In contrast to the Salmon, we have little complaints. Thin Crust Pizza: Japanese Pizza ($15.00): Crust is indeed thin and dough is believed to be handmade. We love the contents, and have managed to taste out the inclusion of wasabi, mayo, sotong. Sng Muay Pop is just another awesome drink I believe can be easily made at home though. It seems something like a slice of sour plum being placed in ice ball and mixed with calamansi and even soda drink to be served. Sinpopo's menu says to suck on the ice balls to relieve the childhood experience of sucking on the traditional ice popsicle. Scissors Cut Rice, a popular street food of soft chicken wings, crispy pork cutlet, egg and cabbage, served with curry gravy. Thick gravy, crispy and soft, are exactly as they described in their menu. One thing that's not met is the egg. Zi Pao Kai with Bee Hoon ($8.90). The chicken is really tender and juicy, to an extent where I think 3 pieces is soooo not enough! Ngoh Hiang ($7.90). You do not get to choose in Sinpopo. It is fixed, and comes with fish cake, five spices meat roll, prawn fritters and chinese sausage. I do enjoyed all of it, except for the fish cake, which seems tasteless. Pulot Hitam with Coconut Ice Cream ($4.90). This is one classic black glutinous rice dessert back in the coffeeshops when I was still a kid. D24 Durian Cendol ($4.90). You can expect basic ingredients such as coconut milk, jelly noodles, red beans, grass jelly, corn and such, topped with shaved ice, palm sugar and mashed durian meat. Ais Bor ($3.90). Very similar to ice kacang/cendol, but this time shaped in a ball. A ball of ice, with the ingredients like corns, attap chee, jelly noodles, red bean, etc within. Woodshed Cafe is located at around the secluded corner of Rangoon Road, at least it is to me. If you have heard of the bak kut teh in Rangoon road, Wood Shed Cafe will be easy to locate! All Day Breakfast: Full-House ($15.90), having the scrambled eggs, cheese sausage, bacon, mushroom, potato, salad, and 2 pieces of lightly toasted bread. I love their cheese! They seem to be too modest in their bacon, but I liked how it is not too over-cooked till crisp. All Day Breakfast: 2 of a Kind ($13.90). This duo is like the poached eggs type, with the yolk sweeping out as you sliced open the bread cup. Splendid! Waffles: WoodShed Special Waffles ($13.90). If only the waffle can be a bit more crispier, it would have been a perfect ending for this meal! Miska Cafe is one of the affordable cafe in Quayside Isle, as what I've briefly researched, besides Kith Cafe. In addition, Miska Cafe is set to be the concept of Mediterranean, offering fresh with quality ingredients. Drink: Strawberry Banana Smoothie ($9.00). Expensive smoothie... Side: Chicken Wings ($11.00), which is a 6 pieces wing with barbeque sauce one the side. The wings are not bad, pretty crispy and juicy. Mains: Miska Breakfast ($18.00). Eggs are not perfectly done in terms of presentation, and rest of the food are pretty normal. Mains: Miska Platter ($18.00). Combo platter served with fried duo eggs (selected scrambled eggs), halloumi cheese, sausage, turkey ham (switched from beef bacon), tomato, baked beans, mini pita and potato. Had a hard time deciding on the food, because we went on a Monday, and most of their items are not in stock yet! It was quite an terrible experience as crew was not sure of what was not available and other details, thus making some detours to enquire with another.. I can feel the disappointment and irritated mood setting in me. For more details, please visit http://foodesteem.blogspot.com/2014/06/backstage-cafe.html Drinks - Iced Cappuccino ($5.50), and Iced Cafe Latte ($5.50). If you prefer to hot version, it is just a dollar less. Main - Smoked Salmon Benedict ($15.00). Freshly poached eggs on toast accompanied with sliced salmon top with hollandaise sauce and mesculin salad. I love poached eggs which are nicely done with runny yolks. The one that came to our table, has one almost cooked, but another to make up for former Main - Backstage Breakfast Combo ($15.00). Freshly toasted bread with bacon, honey baked ham, sauteed mushroom, grilled fresh tomatoes with melted cheese and mesculin salad, accompanied with choice of egg (scrambled/egg white/poached/sunnyside). Scrambled is a little overcooked, which wasn't the wobbling type I wanted Generally the rest of the dish is fine. Crispy Fried Chicken Wing ($8.00). 4 pieces of wings which are fried to crisp and juicy in the meat. Thumbs!
