J65 is an all-day dining buffet restaurant that provides mainly South-East Asian cuisine, and some are what I have never seen before in other buffet places.

The overall ambience is awesome and it widens your appetite! The variety served can make someone go woah and suddenly feeling helpless in where to start from. If you are a meat lover, this is definitely one of the paradise!

There are of course seafood and even for those greeny lovers! It's rare to see a section full of vegetables, and is definitely a hit among the health-conscious group. Mind you, the salad is not just normal salad, but different combinations for you to choose from!

The seafood spread is unlimited and worth just going there for it. All of it are placed on a bed of ice to preserve its freshness and overall taste!

There are of course also sushi and sashimi! For the real cooked dishes, where some might want to scoop it directly from a warm pot, you are in for a treat too.

Just by a pillar, several pots surround it, and all looks appetizing and it's hard to decide which one should you start on.

What really interest me is a couple of steps down to another area, there is this kitchen-like section ready to chop roast pork belly, roasted chicken, steamed chicken, and also char siew! They also have chicken rice, which rice comes in form of a ball! I had a similar experience with chicken rice ball, just when it first started to get popular in Singapore, but I have to say J65's is so much better.

Just beside it, there is a laksa store, which cook not one, but a total of 6 different flavours of laksa! Where else can you find this in a buffet restaurant? If I have 6 stomachs, I will gladly try each of them!

Moving on to desserts, they have the usual slice of cakes, ice creams, and also nyonya kuih! I can't leave without having it when there is one.

Overall, the variety is not limited, and you might want to leave a little more space than usual for the last part of the buffet!

J65 does have wine pairing, but if you are looking for something non-alcoholic, they have carrot juice, fruit punch, and even soya bean with grass jelly packaged in a bottle! This is something interesting I have not seen elsewhere, in terms of not just the packaging but also the drinks!

Sum Kee Tze Char Smile Jan 23, 2016
Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Coffeeshop | Zi Char

For more details, please read http://www.foodesteem.com/2016/01/sum-kee-food.html
I got to know about Sum Kee Food while scrolling through my Instagram, and a salted egg dish caught my attention. When my friend knew about it, the first reaction was a "Must Go!".
Sum Kee Food has outdoor and indoor seating. What amused me was the wide and spacious frontyard from the entrance. Seems very much like a traditional Chinese entry to a mansion.
Sum Kee Food is just like a typical tze char or a Chinese restaurant. What's so special about Sum Kee Food though, is their online ordering menu.
We quickly settled on the items to order as the hunger has set in early that night.
Ultraman Chicken 咸蛋鸡 ($12.00). This is the dish we immediately circled, because this was what we were here for! Basically chicken chunks cooked with salted egg yolk. Simple dish as it sounds, but I like how balanced the saltiness is, and also how the chicken chunk has kind of devoured the taste of salted egg yolk into it.
Coffee Pork Rib 咖啡排骨王 ($10.00). Sum Kee Food’s version leaves me a deeper impression due to its intense coffee taste on the tender boneless pork ribs.
Chicken Floss Tofu 鸡肉松豆腐 ($10.00). Nothing too special except for the addition of chicken floss, but would be a comfort dish to go with rice and.
Mince Meat Omelette 肉碎煎蛋 ($8.00). I was actually quite disappointed with the size of the omelette when it came. Seems to be cooked with a single egg, which could be because we ordered the smaller portion. But presentation aside, the price for it could still be cheaper.
Bai Ling Ku Vegetable 白灵菇炒菜 ($15.00). Categorised under the fungus family, it is no doubt one of my favourite mushroom. Soft slices of the mushroom and thick savoury sauce would suffice with a bowl of rice.
Four Season Bean 菜脯四季豆 ($10.00). This dish of long beans is not spicy as it look like, or rather not a single spiciness can be tasted. The beans seem to have not been chopped to smaller lengths, but is still as crunchy.
Prawn Sauce Chicken 虾酱鸡 ($10.00). The chilli that comes with the juicy wings is a little sour, and it doesn't complement the Prawn Sauce Chicken at all. But just mouthing the wings without the wings, is good enough to keep on grabbing one after another and enjoy the spurting of the juicy wings as you bite in.

Dazzling Cafe Smile Jan 10, 2016

Read more at http://www.foodesteem.com/2016/01/dazzling-cafe.html
Situated in Capitol Piazza, directly opposite City Hall MRT, it is just a pedestrian crossing away. Dazzling Cafe is located somewhere around the perimeter of Capitol Theatre. I have heard about the queue for approximately 2 hours, and was wondering if this wait is going be worth. Fortunately, or not, we were told waiting time is a minimum of an hour, but we can leave our contact and wait to be contacted when there is an available seat. Seems like a good time to walk around and further maxing your hunger level?
Dazzling Cafe has a kind of cutesy decoration, with alternate chairs having a pair of bunny ears, which is instagram-worthy! It has limited seats, even though they have lower and upper storey. Any other interesting stuff will be its made-up fireplace, made up of a tv monitor showing a fire burning.
Dazzling Cafe has food menu and dessert-cum-drinks menu separated. Their dessert is more like a main too, so you might actually consider sharing the food among your group, rather than having one each.
Truffle Mushroom Risotto with Freshly Shaved Truffle 黑松露蘑菇烩饭 ($24.90). This plate of delicious yet plain-looking risotto consist of mixed wild mushrooms, red onions, and garlic being simmered in white wine reduction topped with fresh black truffle shavings, parmesan cheese and truffle oil. This firm yet mushy and creamy risotto is worth a try with its flavourful taste.
Pan Seared Duck Breast Spaghetti in Orange Mustard Sauce 橙汁芥末鸭胸意大利面 ($24.90).
What is a plain normal dish of spaghetti and duck breast slices, has got a twist with the addition of orange reduction and pommary mustard sauce.
It is actually not bad, and fare above average. The orange-y sauce is unique to me, but probably my first time trying it, it inevitably got me to compare against the Truffle Mushroom Risotto with Freshly Shaved Truffle, and the latter got the better side of me.
Buffalo Wings 水牛城辣鸡翅 ($15.90). Five pieces of the meaty buffalo wings, comes in reddish color and pungent tabasco smell. But do not be fooled by the presentation!
It might be spicy to peeps who can't stand any bit of chili taste, but to those who does, it is definitely not spicy at all and has a sour taste too due to the tabasco. I did a sniff of it pretty near to my nose, and I got choked by it.
Being at Dazzling Cafe, honey toast is one of their specialty and you have to try it! They have a variety of toasts and we had the Mango and Coconut Gelato Honey Toast 芒果椰子蜜糖吐司 ($18.90).
Seems to be half a loaf of bread used to prepare the toast, with a big scoop of coconut gelato, and a moderate supply of mango cubes and sauce. Presentation is awesome and crew will actually leave it at your table for photo-taking, before you even request for it. Once you done with all the snapping, kindly request for them to teach you how to consume it in the best way without making a mess!
There are a couple of ways I saw, but mine is simply to slice open the sides, and place the scoop of gelato on any flat side. Inside the toast will be cubes of normal toast to be smeared with the mango sauce, coconut gelato and mango cubes! Awesome dish for the sweet-takers.
Prices are on the higher end, but it still calls for a return trip for their various honey toasts, and the welcoming and cheerful greeting. Despite the prices, a queue is still expected and it would be good if you are able to go early and be it the line before your stomach goes on starvation mode.

Tanjong Beach Club in Sentosa OK Dec 20, 2015

Read more at http://www.foodesteem.com/2015/12/tanjong-beach-club-coastal-cuisine.html
Tanjong Beach Club is one of the Bistro-cum-Bar situated at the end of Tanjong Beach in Sentosa. A stone throw away from the carpark, Tanjong Beach Club has a setting of a normal restaurant, and also a beach-bar like.
Tanjong Beach Club's menu has All-Day and also Brunch. Although brunch is only available during the weekends and public holidays, the All-Day menu is quite enticing still.
Root Beer Float ($10.00). Normal rootbeer float of IBC root beer and vanilla ice cream, yet charging at 10 bucks? Well, this cup of drink is pretty huge compared to the usual type.
USDA Angus Prime Ribeye ($55.00) with chimichurri sauce. As usual, I ordered it to be cooked rare, but the result is quite disappointing, considering the price paid. Overall is still passable but will not be in my recommendation list for the steak-lovers.
Traditional Eggs Benedict ($24.00), with two poached eggs, smoked bacon, toasted English muffin, and hollandaise sauce. When you are spoilt for choice, the most basic brunch item in the menu is always the best!
Truffle Fries ($15.00). Lacking of intense truffle taste, which is quite disappointing.
Overall, I don't think it is worth a return visit, as the food is probably just a passable rate, and the price and travelling time spent could be well-spent on another place. Not unless you are already in the area, or wanting to enjoy the beach-side atmosphere with a group of laughable friends.

For more details, please visit http://www.foodesteem.com/2015/11/just-place-european-bistro.html
We were there for lunch, but apparently there isn't a crowd in the weekend, perhaps due to the sunny weather, and most of the shops are still not open for business. So this helped us to decide on Just The Place soon enough, and with the visible guide of the only crowd in there.
Just The Place is more like a pub for drinkers to mingle and even have a decent European meal. Their menu consists of starters, pizzas, pastas, finger food, seafood and meat. They also have brunch section in the menu, but have to note that it is only available during the weekends.
Just The Place's Iced Lemon Tea ($3.50/glass). Not something an average kid will accept, because of the substantial bitter taste.
Just Platter ($19.90), consists of truffle fries, cajun mid wings, crispy prawn twisties, and sweet potato croquettes. Other than the mild-taste of truffle in the truffle fries, overall is quite well-paid for. If you are a seafood-y person, Just The Place also serves Seafood Platter ($22.90).
Pan-fried Herbed Boneless Chicken with Mushroom Sauce ($18.90). I had expected to have a small piece of chicken, with just a simple gesture of dripping the herbal taste of mushroom sauce on it. But what came was a delightful plate of herbed-taste chicken! Without the mushroom sauce the chicken meat is already good enough for me eat without sharing at all.
Prawn Aglio Olio ($18.90). I am a rice-type of person, so I'm not sure of the pastas here is that good, or just average. I love the tough yet tasty aglio olio, not like those coffee shop noodles we had.
It has a great view, overlooking the sea where opposite lies our close neighbour. The most convenient way of getting there is still by car or a bus. Of course, other than eating, it has also a park and is one of the popular place for a family gathering.
