Interesting decor, yummy food Smile Jan 21, 2013

Interesting old-school decor like chucky doll, cameras of the olden days, etc. Crews are friendly to intro their menu to you too.

Food is reasonably priced, and delicious! Had "quack doctor" for $11.90 which has a fluffy croissant to start with, and yummy duck meat in it. I am totally in love with their croissant. Also had this sunny side up, which has raw egg yolk on top of the pasta, and for you to "screw" up the yolk, so that your pasta will be creamier, and flavory beef pepperoni!

Names for some of their drinks and desserts are interesting, and a lot of effort is inputted into creating their menu which is handwritten! Definitely will be back there again to chill out smile

Canton Paradise Smile Sep 21, 2015
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum

For more details, please read http://www.foodesteem.com/2015/09/canton-paradise.html
I have been other outlets managed under Paradise Group, but to Canton Paradise, this was still my first. Canton Paradise focus on the Cantonese popular delights, such as the roast meat and dim sum, as though bringing you to Hong Kong.
One of Canton Paradise must-order is the BBQ Pork Belly with Honey Sauce. But not wanting to miss out on the all-time favorite, Kampong Chicken, we ordered the BBQ Combination ($18.80 for 2 varieties) that comes in either 2 or 3 varieties.
We had actually wanted the normal BBQ Pork with Honey Sauce and the Steamed Kampong Chicken in Canton Style, but was strongly recommended by the crew to try their BBQ Pork Belly with Honey Sauce. It can be sinful to the health-conscious people, but it is really good. Every bite I took made me lick my lips clear of the sweet honey sauce and enjoying the tenderness of the pork belly. Their Steamed Kampong Chicken in Canton Style is nowhere inferior to the BBQ Pork Belly too.
Steamed "Ling Zhi" Spring Water Tofu with Minced Pork and Salted Fish ($13.80). Three big pieces of wobbly tofu, with salted fish mashed and mixed with the minced meat to steam. I am glad that the taste of salted fish is quite mild, and thus able to enjoy the tofu and minced meat without a stain of detestation.
Crisp Fried Crystal Prawns tossed with Salted Egg Yolk ($18.80). I had several occurrences with dishes cooked with salted egg yolk, and I would say this dish does meet my expectation. Taste of salted egg has subtly merged with the prawns, and thus making this entire dish enjoyable instead of feeling like eating salted egg yolk and fried prawns separately.

Strangers' Reunion Smile Aug 29, 2015
Categories : Café | Desserts and Cakes | Brunch

For more details, please visit http://www.foodesteem.com/2015/08/strangers-reunion.html

Strangers' Reunion does serve a variety of food, and also on the growing trend healthy eating, yogurt is also available in the menu, if you looking for something light, unfailing your diet routine.
Cafe Latte. As mentioned earlier, aromatic smell of the coffees in Strangers' Reunion is sure to perk you up! While I am not much of a coffee drinker, my companion does agree with the mass that the coffee here is definitely to-order-for.
House Smoked Salmon Benedict with hazelnut bearnaise, fera, walnut crumble, petit salad & sultana bread. Generous serving of salmon slices and a pair of oozy egg benedicts. Both of these items have made up a wonderful brunch already.
Truffle Fries. I admit that the price is steeper than what you would normally expect in other cafes, and I do feel the ache too. Despite the price, it has a strong truffle smell, and the serving is deem suitable to be shared among 2 pax as a side dish.
Another recommendation in Strangers' Reunion is their buttermilk waffles! Buttermilk Waffles with Homemade Mixed Berry Compote, with choice of either Greek yogurt or vanilla ice cream. I had of course, opt for the Greek yogurt, as ice cream is too commonly used in other cafes.
Strangers' Reunion waffles are crispy on the outer, but fluffy in the inside. This enable the yogurt and berry sauce to get soak into the waffle when dabbed, allowing the sweetness not just on the outside.
We went around 3 plus in the late afternoon, but the cafe is still pretty packed. Although each of the crew are busy, they do also diligently attend to your requests when requested. Service is definitely up to mark.

Categories : Thai | Bars/Lounges

For more details, please visit http://www.foodesteem.com/2015/07/soi-60-thai-restaurant-bar.html
Located along Robertson Quay, Soi 60 has indoor and outdoor seating. Ample tables and ongoing music, with the typical decorations of a Thai restaurant being scrubbed away in Soi 60, giving a more modern and vibrant ambiance.
Thai Iced Tea ($8.00). I'm not really a taker for extremely sweet-drinks, and Soi 60's iced tea is just well-balanced in terms of its sweetness. If you are fond of sweet drinks, Thai Iced Tea might leave you a little disappointed.
If you are of those who thinks salmon has a fishy smell, the seasonings added by Soi 60 can make you enjoy the soft chunks of salmon which still enable you to relish the essence of salmon.
Crispy Duck Pancake ($12.00). Besides the roll of duck meat wrapped together with Thai herbs and black vinegar reduction sauce aside for dipping. The surprise is with the lychee fruit in it, which may seem to be a weird combination, but turned out pretty fine.
Mixed Seafood ($24.00), consisting of scallop, prawn, squid, chilli, lime leaf, and glass noodles. Although the Mixed Seafood's glass noodles is not a gravy-intensive dish, each of the seafood is fresh, and the glass noodles though averagely moist, is elastic and tangy.
Iberico Pork ($26.00) is slow cooked with Thai spiced crust, pickled ginger, and young ginger salad. The overall dish taste to me like pork being sprinkled with crushed black pepper, and each piece of Iberico Pork is crisp on the outer and minimal juiciness in it.
Fresh Spring Rolls ($10.00), consists of northern Thai sausage, Thai herbs, and peanut hoisin sauce. A refreshing and nutritious spring roll infused with sausage to make the entire spring roll not so vegetarian.
Black Sticky Rice ($10.00) with fresh mango and coconut cream. The rice seems like a mixture of glutinous rice and brown rice surrounded by coconut cream, with half a load of really fresh mango fruit placed on top, and finished with coconut shredding. Overall it looks like the Pulut Hitam which used to be one of my favourite breakfast when I was still in primary school.
Thai cuisine is widely-known for its spiciness, but Soi 60 almost did away the conventional idea, as we did not really find any spicy food throughout our meal, making the empty red chilli a nice addition to the presentation.

Jamie's Italian Smile Apr 19, 2015
Categories : Italian | Pasta | Seafood

For more details, please visit http://www.foodesteem.com/2015/04/jamies-italian.html

Jamie's Italian, the only outlet based in Singapore, which also has been crazily raved about in the UK.

Had wanted to try their breakfast menu which was launched recently, but the earliest time I could make it was past 2pm. Therefore, we still went ahead with their lunch menu.

Jamie's Italian has both indoor and outdoor seating, but for a weather like Singapore, an indoor seating is always a preferred choice among majority of the diners. I has a narrow walkway from the entrance to the seating area, but pretty bright during the day which light streaming in from the glass windows, and overlooking to sea to the Universal Studios Singapore can be quite relaxing.

Ordered a snack to chew on as we haven't eaten anything since morning, but it was not disappointing at all. Crispy Squid ($11.50), with garlicky mayo and lemon. Love the fried-crisp skin and chewy squid. Sufficient enough to be shared among 2 pax, but the tendency to ask for second helping is high.

Prawn Linguine ($17.00), with fried garlicky prawns, shaved fennel, tomatoes, chilli & rocket. Portion is considered small, but every mouth of it will just tempt you to just carry on eating. I ordered the normal serving, where a larger serving cost $25.00. Perhaps I should have went for the larger serving, but as a first timer to Jamie's Italian, I do know now that food here is pretty promising.

Baked Salmon ($23.50) is not in the menu, but recommended by crew as it is the "fish of the day" type.

Jamie's Italian does serve promising and delicious food to diners, although the price is on the pricey side and with a smaller portion, which we assume and indeed, find it not enough to fill up our empty stomach. An ice-cream dessert at some of the other cafes/restaurants (which are almost everywhere in VivoCity) will probably just fill up your stomach to the brim.
