Cajun Chicken OK Jan 05, 2013

Only 2 other tables were occupied while we were there. Granted it was after the regular lunchtime, slightly after 2pm, but still I expected a bigger crowd, but then Wheelock seemed quiet on the whole.

I ordered the Cajun Chicken ($15.50). For the price, the portion seemed small, from the rice to the broccoli to the chicken. If you consider the fact that it was a weekday, then it's even worse. It's not hard to find weekday lunch promotions around $10, even at the Orchard area. The taste was normal, like any other chicken chop. They should have more attractive lunch promotions, or at least increase the portions.

Fusion cuisine OK Dec 18, 2012
Categories : Fusion

The resturant is nestled among the row of eateries near the Little India station, very conveniently located for those who take the MRT.

We tried a staple, the Noodles and Rice combination, and an appetiser, the Fried Fish. From the dishes, it appears that the cook has good control of the fite. The rice and noodles had good 'wok hei' (fire breath) and the fried fish was not oily. For the prices, however, the portions were rather small.

Nasi Padang at restaurant prices OK Dec 18, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Malay | Restaurant | Seafood | Kids-Friendly

The restaurant was airy and spacious, with a good view of Orchard road if you sit near the full length windows. The way of ordering is like regular nasi padang, you point to the dishes you want, and because it's a restaurant, they will serve it to you at your table.

We ordered 3 dishes to share and the Ayam Goreng Garuda was the most unique, but very oily. The rest like the fish curry and the Pergedil Daging Sapi (Potato Croquette with Minced Beef) were rather ordinary.

I guess if you have overseas friends in town and you want to impress them in an air-conditioned environment, this would be an ideal choice. But at the steep prices, I would patronise the stalls run by the mak ciks

Cheese-baked spaghetti Smile Jan 30, 2013

Cheese-baked spaghetti

Cheese-baked spaghetti

I opted for the double cheese-baked spaghetti and it was quite decent for a $2-dollar top-up. But if you don't feel like forking out that extra sum, don't worry cos there is free flow of cheese poweder provided. And they sure are generous. The cheese shakers come with 2 openings, one is the normal kind like you see for pepper, the other side has a huge opening so you don't have to worry about clearing the stuck holes which usually occurs with normal shakers.

Japanese fusion food Smile Jan 19, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Fusion | Sushi/Sashimi | Kids-Friendly

This is the first time I am trying Japanese fusion food. The restaurant has an intimate setting. The main course I try is the don, which is a mix of beef, shirataki, carrot and potato.

The don came served in a very elegant (and big) serving plate, so different from the big bowls I am used to. The dish has simple ingredients but there is flavour in every bite. Everything comes together very nicely and each bite is delicious.
