Birthday feast at Bibigo Smile Dec 11, 2012

Bibigo's menu is not extensive but don't let it fool you. The three dishes we ordered were all awesome and it truly is a classic case of quality over quantity.

The Fried Mandoo ($9) were like Chinese dumplings and I found it strange that it came with a soy sauce dip. I ate it on its own and it made for a nice appetiser. My only gripe is that it the price seemed on the high side.

Next, we had the famous Ginseng chicken soup ($22). This dish is apparently quite popular, and can sometimes be sold out early in the day. I found this dish unique as it was stuffed with glutinous rice. It can get a bit messy when you are trying to slice the chicken and the rice just spills out. The broth was tasty, and the whole dish is very satisfying.

My favourite is the Hot Stone Bibimbap ($16). There is a selection of grains you can go for, and in my opinion, everyone should choose the black rice. It is sticky, but not cloying, and the grains have so much flavour and are plump and chewy. You really need to try it to find out. Mixed with the sauce and the vegetables, it was so delicious and yet so healthy (no fried or oily stuff) that you really have t hand it to the Koreans.

Recommended Dish(es):  Bibimbap

Spending per head: Approximately $25(Dinner)

This is my first food tasting with OR, and I would have missed out on a fried-chicken alternative if I had not attended the session.

There are several flavours and I tasted the soy chicken one as I was afraid that the spicy one would be too spicy. It was quite unique, a nice change from the usual flavours, and not too salty too. The chicken was really crispy. It was served with fries in a cute mess-tin-like container.
