Who says healthy alternatives have to be bland, unexciting and dull?
The Lawn aims to overthrow this misconception and here I present to you..

Meat your Greens at The Lawn!

For a complete review on TheLawn, plus how I feel about the individual grills and salad dressings, visit :
http://chiamhuiy.blogspot.sg/2013/01/meat-your-greens-at-lawn-review.html!

Before I start off, I strongly suggest visiting TheLawn because be prepared to clear the misconception that salads are just vegetables. No, they come with grilled meat now. So, let's Meat your Greens at The Lawn.

New updates! With all the feebacks commenting that the POT size was too big and the BOWL size was too small, the owners of TheLawn decided to fuse two such sizes into a medium size instead, called The Lawn Box Size, and of course, at a lower prize than that of Pot's. No more pot or bowl size, bear that in mind.

I got to try the Chicken breast with maple fusion, Buttered seared pacific dory and grilled prawns. My vote will definitely go to grilled prawns because the prawns can't get any fresher, if not you probably had to go catch it yourself, haha! But still, the dory fish was great as well because the combination of the charred butter and kosher salt gave me a very delicious taste sensation. Personally, I've always hated chicken breast because I find them very dry. But boy, I was so wrong! Chicken breast can also approximate to the tender and juicy chicken thighs, best is it was less oily, and this was exactly what TheLawn presented to me.
Grilled Chicken breast with Maple infusion $9.90

Grilled Chicken breast with Maple infusion $9.90

Sizzling hot grilled chicken infused in maple sauce presented on top of your salad and toppings!
I had: Grapes, Baked mini potato, Walnut, Crushed peanut and Broccoli!
Butter Seared Pacific Dory with Parsley Rub $9.90

Butter Seared Pacific Dory with Parsley Rub $9.90

I swear that this tasted better than the maple chicken. The key to the great taste, is none other than the charred butter with Italian parsley and Kosher salt, adding an additional taste sensation to the Dory fish.
Char-grilled Garlic Prawns

Fresh is what I can think of to describe this, because that's the most prominent characteristic of the grilled prawns. So fresh that it was so chewy! The house's unique herbs and juices used to marinate the prawns was also another plus factor that you'll never get to experience elsewhere. Consuming alone without any complements was good enough to achieve full satisfaction.

Upon deciding your grills, you get to choose 5 toppings (no longer 6 for pot size because they are now BOX size!). I would still think that 5 toppings is more than enough because the servings they gave was not stingy at all.

The Lawn also aims to provide you a better and extraordinary experience with your salad by giving you more than 20 choices of toppings - it's hard not to be spoilt for choice.

Few of my favourite toppings are: Wasahonie (wasabi), MeSoSpicy (taste a little like tomyum) and Beachy Peachy (sweet and sour, appetizing!) .
Salad dressings

I also ordered the Iced Caramel Latte @ $4.80!
Iced Caramel Latte @ $4.80

Iced Caramel Latte @ $4.80

Overall, The Lawn provides you a greater and healthier alternatives to your daily food solutions like fast food, or plain old kopitiam. Something better than that? You probably have to go to bigger restaurants or cafes which cost you at least more than $15 a meal. Here at The Lawn, ordering has been made easy (A box of salad at $9.90) and I totally feel that the price is too good to be true! Must try it yourself one day!!

Hope you liked my review! smile

Brasserie Les Saveurs is very beautifully adorned with sophisticated furnishings and full length glass windows, it completes my dining experience here at Brasserie Les Saveurs, perfectly.

The restaurant has 2 cosy areas that are tucked in the corner of the restaurant. It gives diners an option to enjoy some personal time while enjoying the dinner, although I find the dining experience outside equally good. Accompanied with classy background music and occasionally complemented with a restaurant singer, time passes very fast here as you leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind.

Amuse Bouche (Pan-seared scallop with Potato Espuma)
To prep and warm our stomach for the delectable dishes coming up, we were presented with a delicate cup of Potato Espuma containing a big round piece of Pan-Seared Scallop. The sides of the scallop was slightly crunchy but still manage to lock in the moisture within. Already flavourful by itself, the scallop taste even better after generously coated with Potato Espuma.

Salad Nicoise (S$36)

Who would have thought that greens can arrive at your table looking so appetizing. Besides mesclun leaves, cherry tomatoes and quail eggs, the Salad Nicoise includes quality ingredients like black-pepper-seared yellow fin tuna and marinated anchovies.

The more than ordinary appetizer pleases the tastebud with their salad dressing that comes with a tangy taste.

Bouillabaisse Facon Les Saveurs (S$19)
What surprise me was not the abundant fresh seafood filling the bowl to the brim. It was the thick broth stock that has gone through a long slow simmer with saffron and fennel, giving diners a palatable bowl of fisherman's seafood stew.

Le Homard Thermidor (S$75)

The lobster always steal the limelight of the night without fail, for it goes through much complexity to cook up a lobster dish and of course its expensive value. The interesting thing about the Le Homard Thermidor is this: The lobster body is first chopped into bite-sized pieces with sautéed mushroom, then flamed with cognac, mushroom bechamel sauce and gratinee gruyere; while the lobster claws are lightly battered and fried to give a different texture.

Australian Prime Ribs (S$48)

Brace yourself for a flavour explosion as you work through the premium ribs that come with the choice of either horseradish sauce or red wine sauce.. or take the best of both worlds! Served with roasted potatoes and tomatoes, sink your teeth into the Australian Prime Rib as it scores a touchdown with its succulent and juicy texture.

To end of the mouth-watering series of dishes, we had the Le Gateau A La Banane -Banana mousse cake and apricot compote, mango salsa, banana and ginger ice cream. It could be better if the ginger ice cream has a stronger ginger taste. But other than that, the banana mousse cake was certainly moist.

Love,
Celine

Platypus Kitchen is furnished with nice cushioned seats and exquisite lightings, giving diners a very cosy and comfortable dining experience without having much to spend a lot, since they aim to keep prices of main dishes below $20.

Truffle Fries $6.90
The very first time I had truffle fries at XX place, I thought it was really good. It was only until this time where I realise the truffle fries the other time was too salty! Here at PlatypusKitchen, thick cut french fries is seasoned with white truffle oil, tossed in truffle salsa and topped with shaved truffles. So many truffles going on here hahaha. But yeah, it's way better and it's only at an affordable price of $6.90!

Risotto Balls $8.90
As compared to the crab cakes, the Risotto Balls fared better to my likings because of the stuffed mozzarella inside the risotto.
The breaded risotto was served in rich pumpkin puree as well. The soup taste really great and clear, kind of refreshing to pair it with pork belly.

Left: MOMO-LYCHEE ALE, Right: SMITH'S ALE
$9.90 (ala cart), $6.90 (set price)
Perhaps something new? How about beer cocktails?
My friends were all raving over the momo-lychee ale, because they find them sweeter. I did give both a try, and I guess Smith's Ale is more of those who prefer sourness.

Spicy 'Diablo' Crab and Prawn
$18.50
Not sure it's named 'Diablo' because the chef plays Diablo... or it's because it describes the 4 different level of spiciness for this dish. Hahahaha. Without any special mention, this will be served at the lowest level of spiciness. However, you may choose to try the different levels! Level one spiciness wasn't really demanding for a person (me la) who can take mild hotness.

Spicy 'Diablo' is also served with Egg Tagliolini, topped with generous amount of crab meat piled at the peak, and fresh juicy prawns within the pasta.

Pressed Pork Belly
$19.90
This is something different from the norms because you get to pour the broth over the pork belly. This dish comes with braised apples, garden vegetables and honey and clove apple glaze.

Saffron and Caviar Risotto
$19.90
Saffron infused and certainly hand-made risotto, inclusive of char-grilled juicy prawns and scallops, this is another favourite of mine. Special mention to the caviar lavished on top of the risotto. It gives a much added taste to the risotto due to its salty nature. The risotto's texture achieved a good level of stickiness too.

Drop by Platypus Kitchen soon! This is one of the restaurants I would really want to bring my friends and family to. The food is really affordable and good.

New at Bugis Junction, EWF is located on the 4th floor of bugis junction, which is very accessible.

Earl grey tea $3.50
Include the sugar cubes to make the authentic tea sweeter.

The one egg soup $6.90
This soup is one hell of a special soup I've encountered. Being emphasized so much by the store manager than this soup is only made from an egg, everyone just couldn't wait to try it. And as soon as I tried it, I fell in love with it! Though made from an egg, it doesn't really taste too much of an egg. The soup is more like a creamy soup with the fried egg white sprinkled on it.Really good, I would say give this a try, since it's only at $6.90!

Skinny Wings $6.80
Crispy and spicy, but definitely bearable spiciness.
It's called skinny for a reason because it's almost half of a normal chicken wing, which is good for sharing with friends and not making you too full for your main course at EWF.

Char-Grilled Pork Belly $15.90
Just take a look at this good piece of Pork Belly. Doesn't it make your mouth water?!
Having a small piece of it, the meat was indeed fragrant and tasty, with very minimal layer of fats - which is good and healthier. But one downside of it is that the meat was a little too hard for me, but I'm sure meat-lovers will never mind this! ;)

Wild NZ King Salmon $18.90
Probably the most expensive main dish at EWF (below $20!!), and definitely the best in my opinion.
Pan-fried with crispy crumbs on top of the King Salmon, I must say this is the best and most tender cooked salmon I've ever tried.
Soft, is honestly the best adjective to describe the salmon meat. It doesn't taste too bland either! What's best about this is that EWF uses premium king salmon for this dish. Who say's good food can't be cheap?

Steak Tulang $25.90
280g Ribeye Steak in a pool of red wine steak sauce, with creamy sauteed mushroom and tulang (beef bone marrow), was one dish that I was greatly looking forward to when they said it'll be served. It's not in the menu because it's seasonal, so make sure you try it before it's gone.

If I really have to do a review on this, my favourite part of the dish is still the ribeye steak. Certainly not a fan of the bone marrow so I didn't like it. The sauteed mushroom was on another hand really good and fresh. Albeit all this, the star of this dish still taste the best based of high quality and its aromatic wine sauce.

For full review with more photos, visit:

Unlike your usual Japanese BBQ with mundane interior design, ROCKU is significantly larger in size, and more thoughtful in designing the place to bring a warmer and street-style atmosphere to you. Videos were shined on the walls as the screen, so you can enjoy watching the music videos while eating! There are nice and hip music playing in the background as well. That's how much I like this place before I was even introduced to the food.

This is the generous amount of meat served in a platter (which is originally meant for 2pax ONLY)

RockU BBQ prime set
Including: Wagyu Marbled Beef, Kurobuta Pork Belly, Kurobuta Pork Sirloin, US Black Angus Rib Eye, and many more!
$68++
PS: Not including all the side dishes on separate plates

Honestly, I've tried many korean bbqs and this is really something you should go for. I know $68+ may look overwhelming to you. But think about it. If you share the platter among three people (which I think it's still enough for one pax), you're only paying for like $23!!!! For the many varieties served in this platter, you can try almost everything! Other BBQ restaurants offer dishes of meat separately and by the time you want to order the same amount of this platter, it's gonna cost more than a hundred bucks. At least that's where I tried.

And I can honestly and truthfully vouch that their meat is of good quality and you'll never be disappointed smile

Mentai Prawn with Cod Roe
I strongly recommend this if you love prawns, especially fresh ones.
The scrumptious Mentai prawn was grilled to the perfect stage with the prawns remaining fresh and succulent. Topped with grilled mayonnaise and prestige cod roe, it was certainly a pleasure to my tummy ^^, A slice of lemon was provided to add a hint of tangy taste to the mentai prawn as well.

They serve other side dishes too!

Overall, for the food included in the platter, i think it's really worth the money lollollollol
