Blanco Court Prawn Mee Smile Jul 15, 2016

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Noodles

http://www.umakemehungry.com/2016/06/blanco-court-prawn-mee.html

The prawn mee that I have always been wondering of everytime I pass by Beach Road. It was an impromptu decision on a Saturday Morning and we made a trip down for breakfast, finally!

The man prefers to have a bigger bowl for his stomach and got himself a big portion at $5.80 instead of the smaller portion that cost $1 less.

Prawn Noodles - $5.80 (Big)

Prawn noodle soup was topped with fried onions in oil, enhancing the flavours of the original bowl of noodles. The broth of the noodle plays an important role and at a very first mouthful of it, the taste of it had already stolen all my tastebuds away. It's sweet and rich flavourful soup was awesome.

There are not too much prawns in the prawns and pork ribs noodle. Sharing the same taste in the soup, this delicacy is undeniably one of the best in Singapore. Pork Ribs were cooked to such a way that meat fell off easily from its bone.

Prawns and Pork Ribs Noodle - $5.80
Yummy! I'm glad a trip to Beach Road is all worth while afterall, the taste was real good!

There are a few handful of tasty prawn noodles I have known and Blanco Court's prawn mee was somehow comparable to those. If you have more to spend, try ordering the 3 in 1 Noodle that consist of Prawn, Ribs and Tail to enjoy a full dining experience or if you are keen on bigger prawns, try out the Jumbo Prawn Noodle!

East Coast Ngoh Hiang OK Jul 15, 2016

http://www.umakemehungry.com/2016/06/east-coast-ngoh-hiang.html

If you are visiting Blanco Court Prawn Mee stall, it is unlikely that you will miss out this Ngoh Hiang Stall that is right beside the famous Prawn Noodle in Beach Road. It seems to be a common practise for patrons having East Coast Ngoh Hiang while waiting for their bowls of Prawn Noodles to be served.

Picking out the favourite items from the display rack, we had the usual few with century egg, meat, prawn cracker as well as fish cake.

Ngoh Hiang - $8.20

Having Ngoh Hiang was a good way to fill the empty stomach with some food. Surprisingly the plate of fried Ngoh hiang Items was good. These items were warmly served and prawn crackers were crispy.

Chinese with sesame seeds were given and if you ordered the "chinese sausage" the starchy sweet sauce will be provided too.

B.K Forture Seafood OK Jul 15, 2016

Categories : Teochew | Seafood | Steamboat/Hot Pot | Kids-Friendly

http://www.umakemehungry.com/2016/06/bk-forture-seafood.html

B.K Fortune Seafood is located along Bukit Timah Road just opposite the entrance of the road into Turf City. They are housed under the big coffee shop chain by Kim San Leng for open air dining and have a separate old school aircon dining environment right beside the coffee shop, selling similar Tze Char Items.

Upon serving the bowl of soup to our table, we almost rejected the bowl of soup and told the server that we did not order any seafood soup as no seaweed could be found until we stirred them up from the bottom. In fact, there is more seafood but only a spoonful of seaweed. Soup was rather decent with slice fish, tomato, carrot, prawns, egg and little corn.

Seaweed Soup - $5

The guy being a Hokkien has never failed to order this Hokkien Noodles whenever it comes to Cze Char Meal. The standard dishes of this is of an average fare and nothing out of ordinary. Ingredients include slice fishes, prawns and vegetables as the ingredients.

Hokkien Noodle - $7

With slice fishes present in the seaweed soup and hokkien noodles, this dish may seemed to be overwhelming for the dinner. Fortunately, both of us love this dish with its sweet sauce. Fish was fresh and yummy. If you are having white rice, it will be ideal.

Spring Onion Slice Fish - $12

The plate of fried chicken was below par in my opinion as the chicken marinate did not make the taste any better, in fact the prawn paste chicken was having some bitter taste even though it may seemed to be yummy in its golden brown color perfection. Yay or nay? I will say nay.

Prawn Paste Chicken - $8

With so many light flies approaching our food, it was kind of disturbance during dining. I hope it was just a one time off event. Anyway food had their hits and misses, we don't see ourselves coming back any soon in the near future.

Sabpard Thai Food OK Jul 15, 2016

With the recent launch of Thai Food Stall near Bukit Batok Bus Interchange, I begin to patronize the S11 coffeeshop more often. To ensure the authenticity of Thai Cuisine, the chef behind the fire and the one who took orders are Thai Locals.

While I was having my Pad Thai and sharing table with a stranger, we strike a conversation and he came comparing my food with the Fried Kway Teow Stall in S11. He was trying to weigh the differences between Chinese version and Thai Version of "Char Kway Teow" against the pricing. Well, in my opinion, both have its traits. Noodles are sweet and tangy with 2 big prawns given.

Pad Thai - $5

Ingredients for the Thai Fried Vermicelli was identical to what I had in their Pad Thai, beansprouts, eggs, fried Taupok, spring onion and 2 pieces of big prawns. However, given the choice between them I will choose Pad Thai as this tasted a little bit bland.

Thai Style Fried Vermicelli - $5

The smell of turmeric fragrant fried thai rice together with cashew nuts, raisins, eggs and pineapple cubes make up a decent plate of Thai Pineapple rice. Meat floss was generously scooped and placed at the top of the rice too.

Pineapple Fried Rice - $6

Although it was supposed to be an individual dish, the portion for the noodles as well as rice is generous and is good for 2 fact. These are very good for sharing if you are not eating alone and can order other sides to complement the mains.

Springleaf Prata Smile Jul 15, 2016

I was quite excited when one of my ex-colleague mentioned that there is a new eating place in Rail Mall that is worth a try out. Springleaf prata is tuck in the quiet corner of the mall facing the abandoned railway tracks. I came to realize its existence recently even though it was opened since last Novemeber, serving an extensive, unique and delicious Indian Cuisine in its menu.

In fact, this Halal Certified Indian food Chain has opened up one more food option to the Muslim pals staying nearby.

Drinks accompany our food will be none other than Teh O Limau Ice & Rose Syrup.

Teh-O-Liamau & Rose Syrup - $1.80 & $1.40

Being curious with alot of unfamiliar item out of the usual Indian Cuisine Menu, we ordered the Murtaburger which name sounds like Murtabak and Burger to me.

2013 Murta Burger - $7

Taste was amazing and I only come to know about that this is actually a good marriage of prata with our well-liked "Ramly Burger".

Ingredients include mutton patties, mayonnaise well hidden inside the usual squarish egg prata. It was a moment of joy to see plenty of my favourite sticky mozzarella cheese while tearing up the prata. Not only was it delicious, its crispiness of the prata had make me feel delighted.

Filling up part of our stomach with Maggie Goreng that looks plain and uninteresting. Taste wise, it was nothing out of the ordinary but the dish came with generous chunks of chicken cooked together with eggs, beansprouts and vegetables, couple with cucumber and chilli as appetizer on the side.

Maggie Goreng with Chicken - $5

$1.10 for a piece of prata? What's the market rate nowadays given for the price from a air-conditioned shop in a mall? I bet this pricing is relatively acceptable especially when its plain prata is so crispy and goes well with the curry gravy. Yummy!

Plain Prata - $1.10

Service and food serving speed is acceptable. With a few well known prata places in the vicinity. the stood up among the rest with their specialties. I forsee myself coming back for more.
