Salted Fish Fried Rice Smile Nov 26, 2013

Categories : Café | Kids-Friendly

I saw one of Openricer recommend Han's cafe's the salted Fish Fried Rice before.
Today, I got a chance to try this at Fareast plaza.
Even it's lunch time peak hr, I didn't wait too long time for the fried rice, only about 10 minutes.
As she recommended, The fried rice is simply delicious.
But the salted fish are more salty than I expected tongue
It came with cabbage and fried egg at the top of plate. Egg are also mixed with the fried rice too.
It costs $8.30. I saw other festive set meal at there, probably I will come back to try.

Ayam Penyet Smile Nov 20, 2013

Categories : Indonesian

Even I'm working in orchard area, this is my first time dining in Ayam Penyet Ria.
But it's well known authentic Indonesian Restaurant.
Located at 5th floor of Far East Plaza.
The half of the wall is decorated with mirrors.

Their dish ordering system is quite fast and convenient.
The staff will pass the order slip to you.
Just need to tick what we want to order and pay first.

I ordered their signature one, Ayam Penyet (Smashed Fried Chicken), costs $7.90 and
the orange juice, $2.20.
Smashed Fried Chicken! Sounds great, rite?
The ingredients and taste are fresh and impressive.
It served as a set with a quarter portion of fried chicken, fried beancurd, boiled kankong, the cabbage, the nice chilli paste and a bowl of rice.
I heard that they smashed with a hammer to loosen and tenderize the chicken meat before deep-frying. The taste of chicken is unique. The outide is crispy and inner is tender and moist.

Really tasty when eat together with the chilli.
The orange juice helped me out of the super hot chilli tongue
I will definitely come back to try other dishes.

Duck Rice  Smile Oct 24, 2013

Order the standard duck set but decided to add on additional char siew to make it $4.00.
I’m presented delightfully with generous portion of meat with some braised peanuts and tau pok as sides.
Though this is a francise of You Kee, I was surprised that the char siew standard is better than the duck meat itself.
The duck meat standard was a little of the franchise usual offering.
Not smooth enough and sauce was a little bland.
The char siew on the other hand was nicely grilled and flavorful.

They definitely deserve a thumbs up for that.
Would recommend they should promote their char siew abit more actually.

Grilled chicken set OK Oct 24, 2013

Categories : Indonesian | Food Court | BBQ | Rice

I choose to believe that this stall is a “copy” of the popular Indonesian riverside BBQ fare. Presentation wise it looks quite similar but vegetable are not offered as a standard but more as a add on.
They also pour the gravy over the chicken and not like riverside who dip the entire chicken into the sauce.
But the quality surprised me, I would say they lose out in the curry sauce standard as its was way too watery and thin for curry sauce but the chicken is just as good, nicely grilled leaving an easy bite on the mouth. But even having said so I would prefer to stick to riverside version next time.
This grilled chicken set cost $4.80.

Chicken Feet Salad OK Oct 22, 2013
Categories : Food Court | Chicken Rice

It was a rainy day and I was finding to try something sour & spicy for lunch.
Decided to eat Thai style chicken feet at this stall, costs $3.80.
With rice and added a bowl of soup.

Actually, no need to take chilli sauce as it's already sour & spicy enough.
No bone, well cleaned, well mixed with green lemon juice and red chilli cutlets.
Taste is quite average and that match with the soup.
