Who would have thought that I'd find something so close to my Maa's cooking outside of Thailand, bangkok?? shocked Certainly not I but it was a pleasant if somewhat eerie surprise to find that everything I ordered had such a familarity in taste and look about it that with every spoonful I started to miss home even more (even after being here for 5 years!).

Because I came with a group of 5 friends, we had the chance to try almost everything that was a favourite of mine and that included the mango salad, papaya salad (which was painstakingly pounded as it is in the streets of thailand and was awesomely good), a $12 tom yum which came in a fire-lighted pot and shared amongst all 5 of us and of course my favourite pork basil which tasted just the way Maa would cook it back home. I also particularly liked the steamed seabass which came with a shocking amount of chilli and garlic and coriander like it does back home.....love at first taste. Definitely no scrimping of ingredients here. =)

THe thai tea was typically sweet and fragrant, maybe a little too sweet for the tastebuds of my singaporean friends but for thai girl like me, I can take it!

Will definitely bring my parents here when they come visit me next month. Sure Maa will love the food here too since she can't take singapore food at all. sad

Highly rec the basil inn at pasir ris downtown east!
