Ah.. The address listed in this review is incorrect and has yet to be updated.

The friend and I had arrived in Wisma Atria and went up the escalators, looking out for Din Tai Fung. I remember being able to see it from the escalator before. It is now no longer in the old location but, has since shifted up to the top floor, nestled at the corner of Food Republic.

Despite its perpetual long queues, the crowd at Din Tai Fung often moves pretty fast. Thanks to the efficiency of the system, and of course, the patrons. It is one of those places where customers rarely linger and chill after their meal.

As always, a visit to Din Tai Fung would include an order of a basket of the Xiao Long Baos.

This time round, we ordered a Dan Dan noodle and spicy minced meat noodles.
I found that the noodles got a little too starchy for me after a while, though the friend said it was okay.
Personal preference I guess.

Halal Korean OK Jan 23, 2013
Categories : Korean | BBQ

This is one interesting eatery. It is not a Malay restaurant.. yet, most if not all the staff are Malays or Indian Muslims.
So you have Malay crew staff with Korean MTVs playing on the overhead televisions.

Not that I have anything against this setting. It just felt, extraordinary.

BBQ Chicken often has promotions that entice patrons; the best I like from them is the buy 1 get 1 free offer. A choice of main dish from their listed and you can choose another listed dish as the free item.
Obviously, being the typical Singaporean, make the money's worth, I went for what was supposedly the most worth it meal.. ordering the Fish & Chips as the free dish.

The friend tried the 'signature' fried chicken wings.

Seriously? The meals were too big for us to stomach all, without bursting our stomach seams.
I could barely finish the fish and the friend could barely finish another part of the wing.

The fries were alright, not too burnt or 'empty'. The coleslaw was fresh.

Ice water is not served at this restaurant.

Pricey but good OK Jan 23, 2013

The place is perpetually crowded and seats are generally hard to come-by. Good thing though, customers rarely stay long. They eat and they go off.

The service staff I've encountered in most Qiji outlets are disgruntled Chinese foreigners. Rather bad service attitudes I have to say. Not just a few of them, but almost ALL I've met. I'm still patronising Qiji, because of the food and sometimes, lack of choices.

No doubt, their Mee Siam and Nasi Lemak are their best sellers. I love them too.

One (very hot) otah, a chicken wing pair, some ikan bilis and peanuts, flattened scrambled egg, cucumber and a minute serving of nasi lemak… all for S$4.
The chicken wing was well fried topped on fragrant coconut rice.
Their chilli... powerful. Don't try if you can't stomach the heat.

Pricey? Well, its considered reasonable for a 'branded' eatery.

Authentic Jap Smile Jan 23, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Hotel | Ramen

A very small eatery, almost missed.
Located on the ground floor of Orchid hotel; the eatery is so quiet, unless you were really out hunting for Ramen, you are sure to miss it.

The bar counter can sit about 6-7 people with 3- four-seater tables just a step up. That's about all the eatery can accommodate.

Service is prompt and the staff look like 'real-Japs'. The kitchen crew are certainly Japanese.
Patrons can help themselves to the container of bean sprouts at each table.

This place serves only Ramen. So if your dining partner wants to have something else, don't think about it.

The noodles were springy and served in a thick yet not over-powering soup broth. Serving size was just about right. Prices are reasonable too!
While there, we took the ongoing promotion: S$12 - A bowl of ramen, a bowl of rice + a ‘mini bowl’, which was minced meat.

Well, I daresay I would be back to try the other versions of Ramen they have!

Dining in an ice-box Cry Jan 23, 2013

One of the cheaper dining options in Liang Court, we decided to try the Italian restaurant. I had rather good impressions of it after my first visit. However, all that changed on my second visit.

We were seated at a table under which, the air-conditioning vent was turned on full blast. We looked around wondering if there were better seating locations we could move to. Alas, there were none. To prevent the legs from freezing out, we sat cross-legged. Not that it helped much.

The service here is commendable though. Very fast and efficient. There was a button on each table, which you press to call for a wait staff. It was like calling for a cab. Orders are taken and noted onto a palm tablet, held by each staff. Food was served just as quickly.

That's when we were disappointment.. by the lack of presentation and quality of the food. The steak we ordered was tough and pathetic, saved by the tasty mushroom sauce. The curry chicken baked rice was hardly in our impression, considered "baked rice". It was served on a 'hot plate' - which was not hot. It was warm. The meal was basically rice and chicken meat, covered in curry.
Portion size was; for small-eaters... considered small.

The friend and I both thought that we could get a better deal in a food court.
