Must try Sambal bbq seafood Smile Jul 14, 2011

This coffee shop is usually rather empty during lunch time. However, it's a different story when the sun is down. At night, the whole coffee shop turns lively with the slow oldies music repeating loudly through an amplifier and people comes in big group to patronize this rather famous BBQ Seafood stall.

As only my boyfriend and I am eating. We only ordered two dishes, Sambal Stingray and Sambal Kang Kong. The stall assistant keep asking whether it's enough for us or not and prompted us to order more dishes. However, we insisted it's enough. The waiting time was not very long and the dishes were served after a few minutes.

Their Sambal Stingray is their signature dish and is a MUST TRY! Served on a banana leaf, the fish meat is tender, soft and and tasty. I wonder how they keep the fish so fresh. Plenty of their homemake sambal chili was spread across the whole stingray and it's just enough. The sambal chili is not spicy and have a unique taste.

For their sambal kang kong, it's quite a worth trying dish too. The kang kong is crunchy and you can even taste the dried shrimp in their belachan chili.

Thumbs up for this stall. Great place to hang out for late dinner.

Despite the numerous Italian establishments in Holland Village, this restaurant stands out from the rest boasting several awards including the Singapore Service Star Award in 2010, Singapore Top 100 Signature Dishes, etc. This restaurant has even been featured in Channel U.

The facade exudes a buoyant feeling with green plants by both side. Stepping into the restaurant we settled down while listening to the soothing music that was being played.

Be sure to try their Spaghetti Aglio Olio E Peperoncino Con Granchi which is actually crab meat pasta tossed with garlic, olive oil and spur chili.

The next item that I shared with my colleague is called Pizza Stagioni. This pizza is cut into 8 different pieces and every two pieces have the same toppings. Mozzarella cheese is the based for all the 8 pieces, the rest of the toppings are mushrooms, parma ham, pepperoni, seafood and tomatoes. The crust was thin and crispy by the edge and soft towards the middle. Toppings were generous. This is a highly recommended dish. After the main course, we have a sweet dessert to sweeten our visit here.

Overall is a nice experience though the passage way might be a bit cramp if you got a seat in the middle of the restaurant.

Seoul Garden has been around ever since my school days and it was quite popular back then with the affordable student meals that see pricing so much lesser than others. Back in those days we have to take turn walking to and fro to take the buffet ingredients to cook. However, all these hassles were eliminated to the minimum as I find out that the Clementi Mall branch have a system similar to Sakae Sushi with the menu computerized and ordering is a breeze with a click of the mouse. So true to the statement inside their logo "The Table Barbeque People" now we really can just sit at the table and do our barbeque! There's a limit of 10 items per order and maximum of 5 quantity for every one item.

We ordered Kimchi soup as soup base and also because bf has Safra card, we got to enjoy a 10% off. The waiting time for the ingredients to be served for the first round may take a while but this gives us some time to try the already cooked yong tau fu dishes, some fried fries and desserts. Their kimchi soup is very nice, not too spicy and have lots of kimchi inside. We also ordered a lot of vegetables, meat, seafood. I love the marination of their Garlic Chicken. Yummy.

The only thing we are confused is how much exactly is 1 quantity? For some meat, we ordered 1 quantity but it comes in a large plate, while those that we ordered 3 quantity comes in a small plate. We leave with a bloated stomach and spent almost two hours clearing our food.

Ordered their Manhattan Seafood Platter for Two at $29.90++. The place overall has a nice ambiance playing some of the popular songs from the nineties and the big panel of frosted glass windows ensure that just the right amount of sunlight enters.

The soup of the day came first which was thick and rich with mushroom. After a while our seafood platter arrives. Interesting to watch the waiter adding the flame to our mayonnaise prawn. Bf say they add the flame to melt the mayonnaise and add on a little heat and burnt taste.

The seafood platter set includes deep fried fish fillet, fried calamari, oysters, flaming prawns served with fries, vegetables and rice. The flaming prawns is a right choice to be crowned as their signature dish. With the hot, melted mayonnaise, it's really irresistible. Also, the chef was nice enough to cut open the prawn into halve so it's easier to remove the prawn shell. Fish has a crispy skin and taste good too. However, the fried calamari rings taste so so only. Our plate is so clean after eating.

Served next is our Manhattan mud pie. It's nice. One side is ice cream the other side is the cake. Just the perfect dish for a sweet dessert.

Not forgetting, they will give you some mint sweet - mentos to clear your breath.

Da Jie Niang Dou Fu is the only place where one can get to try up to six different style of Niang Dou Fu. The six different style include Hakka (which is my Favourite), Ampang, Tom Yam, Laksa, Black bean, Tomato/Chilies. The set also comes with a bowl of healthy soya bean soup.

Not only do they have Niang Dou Fu, their menu also includes a variety of Chinese Cuisine like coffee chicken, fried rice, hor fun, etc. Being a Halal certified eating place also makes it a suitable place for everyone to gather and visit.

I ordered their Hakka Niang Dou Fu for dinner. Using fried chicken crumples to make their unique hakka sauce, this dish is simply mouth-watering and with a taste of traditional hakka taste.

Beside the 6 different sauce to choose from, they also provide over 60 different varieties of items to choose from, it just makes me spoil for choice in deciding what items to pick. Thus, I pick a few vegetable items and some fried items. Fresh and worth it.

Highly recommended place to visit.
