Froggy Bubble Fresh Milk Smile Jun 15, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Taiwanese | Juices

Despite the strong competition of so many bubble tea stalls (Koi, Sweet Talk, Ok Tea) already in Clementi, this Taiwan tea12 Reach shop still choose to open it's first outlet in Singapore at Clementi.

Nevertheless, the novelty of this shop still draws a steady crowd of curious passer-by stopping to give their tea a try. Divided into 5 main categories which are the Original Tea, Flavoured Tea, Froggy Series, Milk Tea and Fresh Milk.

The Froggy Series seems interesting so we tried their Froggy bubble and it don't come cheap. Every drinks under the Froggy Series cost $5 each. So what's so special about this Froggy bubble is that they used fresh milk to make this drink. Instead of the usual bubble milk tea that we drink, this is real fresh milk. The pearls used were made of black sugar so it's super sweet. Sweet and chewy. Worth a try.

Lazy to choose what dishes we want, we went for their BBQ Promotion set menu for 4 persons. We have the Korean Side Dishes which is the appetizers, Seafood Pancake with Green Onion, Vermicelli and Pork, BBQ Chicken, BBQ Pork, replaced Spicy Cuttlefish with Pork with Kim Chi, rice, complimentary radish soup and fruits.

As I mentioned, we were really lazy, so when the waitress asked if we wanted to cook the meat ourselves or let the cooks inside do the job for us, we requested for them to cook for us inside.

The dishes are quite authentic. I love the wide range of appetizers which were all very appetizing and make me crave for more before the main course came in. The dishes all came in one by one. After the appetizer came the BBQ pork and chicken. This is nothing Korean style. Felt like eating normal hotplate. The rice and soup came and the soup is normal too. A bit blend. Next the Seafood pancake was served. This is like carrot cake cooked in seafood. Quite nice, crispy on the outside and filled with prawns, octopus etc on the inside. The Vermicelli is our top favorite dish of the day. It has a sweet taste. We don't quite like their pork with Kim Chi. Pork is too fatty and the kim chi is too spicy.

Their drinks are super overprices. The only cheap drink is their Korean Tea which is $1. Free flow juice cost $6.50!!! Can use that money to order a dish!

I have the fortune of having this highly recommended prawn mee with pork ribs being brought back to the office by my colleague's friend. Thus my colleagues and i were all spare from the 20 minutes or even longer queue.

Firstly, I was surprised to see two big deshelled but head on prawns. Usually, for those prawn noodle stalls, the prawn would be those that were cut into half and super small that is gone with one bite. Now, the prawns they used is fresh and succulent. The pork rib is also of the part that I like. The only thing that is nice if we eat there is the soup. It's quite difficult to takeaway the soup.

Freshly squeeze fruit juice !  Smile May 26, 2011

Categories : Hawker Centre | Juices

I must say there are more than 3 fruit juice stall in Alexandra Village Food Centre. However, this is the only stall that is single handedly man by one uncle with no assistant. He have to take orders, prepare the juice (freshly squeeze), collect money, bring the drinks to customer and do all these by himself. Thus, do bear a little bit with the waiting time. I love the paper cup used for the juice as it looks cheerful and fruity.

Also this is the only stall here that sells Kedongdong juice. Kedongdong juice is made from the juice of this kedongdong fruit found in Malaysia. It's a distant relative of mango and taste a little spicy and a little sour as he have added some salted plum powder inside. Not many people can take this flavour and I'm still not very used to it but it's healthy and good for the body.

The other thing to take note is that for more than 2 fruit mixed, each fruit will have to pay an additional of $0.50. For example, if I order apple + carrot juice, this stall will charge $2.50 while most of the other stalls only charge $2.

Every dish is truly delicious ! Smile May 23, 2011

This restaurant was tucked at a small alley at Tan Quee Lan Street but it's hard to miss it as it's so crowded with long queue forming outside. Luckily, my colleagues were there early and we've gotten a table and seats when we reached. They don't allow reservation to be make in advance so it's a first come first serve basis.

Their prawn paste chicken are well seasoned. Crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The prawn paste taste is just right and not too strong. It's a finger licking dish!

Next dish is their Sauteed Twin Mushrooms with green vegetable. I love their oyster sauce and fresh mushroom and vegetable.

Their fried Hong Kong Mee is well prepared though the serving is a little bit small.

Next is their Assam Curry Fish head and fried fish soup with milk. The Assam Curry Fish head is loaded with brinjal, cabbage, long beans, tomatoes and tau pok so there's something for everyone. The use of spices is just nice and again did not come as too over whelming. The fried fish soup is delicious too with milk. Have it while it's hot.

Overall, a pleasant meal and everyone were so engrossed in their food and all the dishes were worth recommending. I would definitely bring my family there next time!
