KimChi Soup with Rice Smile Jan 16, 2012
Categories : Korean | Food Court

Had a bowl of hot and spicy Kimchi Soup with rice is totally shiok. The spiciness lingers in my mouth and makes my mouth goes numb after a few more sip. For those who can't take much spicy food, it's best to let the cook knows before hand. As for the side dish, the bits of the anchovies are too salty though and the kimchi taste sweet instead of sour or spicy.

Cakes for Display

These colorful and unique cakes that are put on display is what prompted me to step into Baskin Robbins to try their ice-cream with my friends. As far as I know, there's only 3 Baskin Robbins outlet in Singapore. One at Serangoon, Nex, the other at Novena and finally at Clementi Mall.
This is so cute!

Look at these two cakes with ice-creams on top. I've already made up my mind to get one of these for my birthday. Hehe. Those who doesn't like to eat cake can just grab one of the ice-cream cone and go. Interesting. There are plenty of unique and delicious flavours to choose from for their ice-cream like for example, Cotton Candy (a swirl of sweet pink and purple ice-cream) or for those traditionalist there's also the usual flavours like chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. Since opening in May 2011, they's a steady flow of customer to this store. Their premium ice-cream products are fully imported from United States and undergo stringent quality control to ensure consistency and taste of the products.

We ordered a 2.5oz two scope ice-cream with waffle in a bowl which cost S$7. It was delicious. The ice-cream was rather solid and didn't melt that fast so we didn't create a mess from dripping ice-creams. It's smooth and the sweetness is just right too. Loving it.

No MSG Hai Nan Chicken Rice Smile Jan 08, 2012

Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Hawker Centre | Chicken Rice

This stall previously was selling chicken rice too. So when it looks different, I thought it's just the same stall that went through renovation. Upon ordering, I saw the difference, this is a new chicken rice stall that boost of not using MSG. For the health conscious, it's good news. Even without MSG, the rice is still tasty and I love their corn and carrot soup. It won't makes you thirstier after drinking unlike those soup that has MSG added into it. Fairly good meal.

Mushroom Chicken Claypot Rice OK Jan 07, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean | Food Court | Porridge/Congee | Brunch

This is my first time trying out the claypot rice from this stall. I was very misleded by the photo in the menu to order their claypot rice. On the photo, the chicken looks fleshy and tender and there's big chunks of mushrooms and big leafy vegetable by the side. It's totally different from the real thing when it comes. First I must comment that their rice was abit too dry with not enough sauce and not fragrance enough. This is a big minus point already. Secondly, I was very disappointed with the portion of mushroom and chicken that was given. The chicken is almost all bones with little meat and the mushroom is only like three small pieces. The stall assistant was quite friendly though and even asked did I took a clear photo of their trophy. On my next visit, I might give their claypot porridge a try as it seems like there's more positive reviews on that.

Merry Christmas dinner at Swensen Smile Jan 02, 2012

Categories : Ice Cream and Gelato | Pasta | Steaks and Grills | Halal

Didn't make any reservation for Christmas dinner and I last minute wanted to go to IMM so we walked around IMM thinking where to have our Christmas dinner. Western food is our main target since it's Christmas day so eating Western food would have more festive feeling to it. This helps to eliminate alot of choices and in the end we settled for Swensen. We were really lucky that we didn't even have to queue and we gotten a window seat. The seats are highly partitioned up so we could enjoy a peaceful dinner and able to hear each other's conversation. This beats going to some crowded restaurant which are so noisy that conversing become shouting.

My Aglio Olio ($11.50) and his Teriyaki Chicken Spaghetti ($15.90). If people says Swenson's food is not nice except for their ice-cream, they probably didn't ordered their spaghetti. I love this two spaghetti. Very tasty and the spaghetti are cooked to the right texture. Not too soggy and not too hard.
Chocolate Twinkle

Their dessert, Chocolate Twinkle ($9.90) is worth a special mention too. It's decorated especially for Christmas with candy cane on top and the ice-cream is my favourite Sticky Chewy Chocolate ice-cream. I was turned into a delightly kids once again.
