Ramen for hungry foodies Smile Apr 29, 2013

When I first tried the ramen here, I was overwhelmed by the huge serving of ramen and the thick slices of char-siew in it. Needless to say, I couldn’t finish it on my own. However, recently I decided to hav it again and realized that the portions have shrunk! The ramen given was lesser and the slices of pork were not as thick. Hmmm, I wonder if it’s because many customers were not finishing their meals? Anyway, the noodles here are slightly thicker, but springy with a good bite. All three soup bases: Shoya, Shio and Miso are good though my preference would be the Shoya one as it is richer in taste.

With so many pizza places springing up everywhere in Singapore, it can be hard to choose one to patronise. However you won’t go wrong with Domino’s. Their classic hand-tossed crust is both crispy and chewy while the toppings are generous. I’m especially a fan of their classic pepperoni pizza as its lightly spiced flavour is fragrant and tasty. The Meatzza is a must for meatloving people and they will certainly enjoy the copious amounts of beef and chicken on it.

The Meatasaurus pizza is just as good and is as its name, topped with plenty of meat!

Authentic beef Pho Smile Apr 29, 2013

Categories : Vietnamese

While there have been a multitude of Vietnamese restaurants popping up in Singapore these past few years, not many are truly able to do a good Pho dish, which is slices of beef with rice noodles in a beef broth. But here, the Pho is as close as it gets to the ones in Vietnam. The broth is not overly spiced with herbs but mild with a strong beef flavour and the beef slices are tender. Till I can visit Vietnam again, I’m coming back here!

This shop front always looks so pretty with its fruit tarts on display that I could not resist trying them! The Strawberry fruit tart is sweet and will please the little ones as well while the mixed berries one is a little more tart in flavour and add a more depth to the dessert. If you’re unsure of which tart to choose, just ask for a sample which they are happy to give.
