Chicken Chop Smile Dec 29, 2014

There was quite a number of Golden Rooster western food stall around Singapore, but they vary in tastes and even the gravy used are different.

There was a Golden Rooster stall nearby my house which I did not realise until now. Their prices were good too, at $5.50 for a chicken chop.

For Gooden Rooster chicken chop, I especially like their deep fried bun, the crispy skin one the outside and fluffy bread inside. The coleslaw was good too, sweet creamy sauce with crunchy chopped cabbages.

The grilled chicken meat had a crispy skin but the chicken meat was not as meaty, slightly over grilled. The gravy of the chicken chop was good, it tasted like teriyaki sauce, it went well with the grilled chicken chop.

Overall, this Chicken Chop was good, but the Clementi Central brnach was even better.

Spending per head: Approximately $6(Lunch)

Cheap takeaway breakfast set Smile Dec 29, 2014

I did not realise Eggs & Berries sells Breakfast Set cheaper than several fastfood restaurants. Their breakfast set included a main, egg, salad with tea or coffee at $3.90, though for takeaway only, no dine-in option.

I ordered the Grilled Chippolata Sausage set. The name of the sausage sounds unique, however I realised it was just normal grilled sausage. The grilled sausage was juicy and slightly peppery. The salad with sour cream tasted fresh and appetising.

The poached egg tasted fantastic. There poached egg was coated with fragrant herb and buttery sauce, inside was flowing orange yolk.

Overall, the Breakfast set was delicious and affordable, though the portion was slightly small, I could have eaten 2 sets of this breakfast to fill my stomach.

Spending per head: Approximately $3.90(Breakfast)

Chendol Frosty Smile Dec 29, 2014

There was a new menu item on Wendy's menu. It was Chendol, a local dessert. I wonder how was it tasted like in an American Fastfood.

The Chendol Frosty was reasonably priced at $2. This Chendol was slightly different, it was made with ice cream instead of crushed ice.

The Chendol Frosty was very similar to local Chendol. There was a rich gula melaka aroma and taste in the ice cream. The grass jelly and green bean jelly compliments the Chendol well.

Overall, this Chendol Frosty tasted good, it reminded me of 7-eleven Chendol Ice Cream.

Spending per head: Approximately $2(Tea)

Grilled Chicken Chop Smile Dec 28, 2014

After having breakfast at the hawker centre, I went over to the kopitiam to have lunch. The grilling meat aroma attracted me to this Golden Rooster Western Food stall. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Chop at $6. The ventilation at this kopitiam was very bad. While I was waiting for my Chicken Chop, the heat trapped in the kopitiam felt like a sauna, I was sweating all over.

The Grilled Chicken Chop was delivered to my table piping hot, smelling of grilled meat. I liked the chicken skin was crispy and savoury, very tasty. The meat was tender but was slightly bland in taste. The sauce on the Chicken Chop was  tasty similar to teriyaki sauce.

The coleslaw was delicious. I liked the creamy sauce and crunchy vegetables.

Overall, this Chicken Chop was delicious but dining there was sweltering.

Curry Bun Smile Dec 28, 2014

Categories : Japanese | Bakery

I was coming out of Expo MRT and I saw a small bakery at the entrance. The aroma of baking bread attracted me to go in have a look. The bakery was very small, I was not sure how they managed to squeeze the whole kitchen inside the store. Inside the bakery was also slightly warm. The buns was order from the counter. I bought the Curry Bun at $1.20.

The Curry Bun was still hot when I bought it. Hence, the outer layer of the bun was slightly crispy, I loved the crispy texture, seldom I bought the cold baked buns elsewhere had this texture. The bun was slightly sweet in taste.

The bread was slightly stiff and there was generous filling of curry potato. The curry potato was slightly spicy and mild curry powder aroma, I hope the curry can be more spicy.

Overall, this Curry Bun was good tasting because I bought fresh from the oven.
