During Dinner time, there was always a queue at this new Soup Restaurant in IMM. The wait for the queue was around 15 minutes, not too long a wait.

Our family ordered the house special Steamed San Yu and Samsui Ginger Chicken. The ordered dishes took a while to came to our table, maybe the kitchen was over-wheling with customers' order.

The Steamed San Yu though looked simple was good. The fish slices were fresh, smooth and tender. The sauce was just premium soya sauce and shallot oil, it was light and good on the fish slices.

The Samsui Ginger Chicken came in chilled and deboned. The chicken skin was silky smooth and the meat was tender. This dish came with ginger sauce and lettuce. Although I found it strange to wrap the chicken meat with lettuce and eat with rice. I would prefer to eat separately with rice.

Overall the food was good here, though a family of four would have to spend at least $50.

Gangster Ice 流氓冰 Smile Dec 26, 2014

I was walking along ABC Hawker Centre and I saw a dessert stall menu board showing Gangster Ice 流氓冰. I wonder what was it so special that the boss named this dessert that way. Hence I ordered a bowl of 流氓冰 at $2.50 to try.

The 流氓冰 came with a surprise, there was a ball of yellow ice cream on top of the mango ice. But when I scoop the yellow ball of ice cream, it seem to smell like durian and had fibre texture. When I eat the yellow ball of ice cream, it was actually real frozen durian meat. Ot was very tasty, I never knew frozen durian tasted so good and refreshing.

The mango in the bowl of 流氓冰 however was more sourish than sweet. But nevertheless the shaved ice was sweetened, eating mango with the shaved ice would not be so sourish.

Wanton Mee Kia Smile Dec 26, 2014

My friend introduced me to this Wanton Mee stall at Hong Lim Hawker Centre. This stall was located behind and away from the front view of the hawker centre, hence I had a hard time finding this stall.

There was no much queue after Lunch hours. I ordered the normal Wanton Mee Kia at $3. They served the Wanton Mee in a cute oval shape bowl.

The Wanton Mee Kia had a heavy aroma of pork lard and savoury special sauce. The special sauce tasted like char siew sauce with hoi sin sauce. Their mee kia was unique, different from others, a bit thicker and springy like kolo mee. The Char Siew was very good, roasted on the outside with very sweet malty taste. The Char Siew meat was tender and fatty.

The wanton in the soup however was small and less meaty. The minced meat marinated was good in the wanton, I could taste the crushed dried fish in the wanton meat.

Spending per head: Approximately $3(Lunch)

Mesquite BBQ Burger Smile Dec 26, 2014

I guess most people go to Texas Chicken to eat their fried chicken and most people do not know their burgers are cheap and tasty.

Usually I liked to order this Mesquite BBQ Burger and it just cost $2! But when you order this Mesquite BBQ Burger, you need to wait for a while for the kitchen to prepare.

The Mesquite BBQ Burger though looked messy in the meat, it actually tasted very good. The Burger tasted very moist because the chicken meat was marinated with their special BBQ sauce. The sauce tasted somewhat spicy and sweet.

No other fastfood budget burgers can match the tastiness at $2.

Putu Mayam Smile Dec 26, 2014

While I was in Kranji MRT, I saw a stall selling very unique and cheap traditional Indian Food. I ordered the Putu Mayam at $2.40.

I thought the Putu Mayam was using dried beehoon from factory and just need to soak in hot water. But I was wrong, the stall holder freshly made the Putu Mayam on the spot by pouring flour over the steamer and cooked.

The Puta Mayam when ready was piping hot and smelt of rice flour. This was the first time I ate Puta Mayam in piping hot version, usually other stalls sold as room temperature version.

The Puta Mayam tasted good with fresh and moist grated coconut and orange sugar. I felt that the orange sugar was not sweet, need to add alot to the Putu Mayam.

Spending per head: Approximately $2.40
