Ecuador Sweet Smile Dec 27, 2014

I always have a urge to buy Royce Nama Chocolate and always eaten the whole box of chocolate by myself in a day. But I must refrain myself unless there was a new flavour.

Today, I walk passed the Royce Chocolate store and noticed something different in the chilled fridge. The redish brown package printed Ecuador Sweet flavour. Hence, I bought one box to have a try.

When I opened the box of chocolate, it looked and smelt similar to the Au Lait flavour. The taste of the Ecuador Sweet was really similar to Au Lait flavour without the alcohol. There was the same soft, milk chocolate taste with mild cocoa flavour.

Since the Au Lait and the Ecuador Sweet were similar in pricing, I would still choose the Au Lait flavour as the taste got the mild alcohol.

Spending per head: Approximately $15(Tea)

Cze Cha Smile Dec 26, 2014

Categories : Hawker Centre | Seafood | Steamboat/Hot Pot

My family decided to have Cze Cha at this Ah Pang Seafood Steamboat at Mei Chin Hawker Centre. But a funny thing was that we need to make reservation if we want to order Cze Cha dishes as they normally only sell steamboat.

We ordered Deep Fried Grouper, Claypot Tofu, Pepper Pork Chop and Three Cup Chicken.

The deep fried grouper was very fresh, the meat was smooth and tender. However, I felt that there was no sauce to go with the deep fried fish.

The claypot tofu was good, though it was not served in the claypot. The sauce had a "Wok Hei" and the tofu was slight crispy on the outside and silky tofu in the inside.

The pepper pork chop was average in taste. It was slightly dry and tough. I thought they should have use thicker meat so that inside will be more juicy.

The three cup chicken was good. There was "Wok Hei" and alcohol aroma from the claypot. The chicken meat was tender and juicy, there was also mild alcohol taste from the savoury oyster sauce.

Overall, the Cze Cha was good tasting with "Wok Hei" in many of thier dishes. The prices were also reasonable.

Spending per head: Approximately $50(Dinner)

Mini Peanut Puff Smile Dec 26, 2014

Categories : Chinese | Bakery

Since Chinese New Year was coming soon, I bought another Mini Peanut Puff from Tai Thong Cake Shop in Chinatown.

Mini Peanut Puff from Tai Thong Cake Shop cost slightly more than others, it cost $20 per box!

When I opened the box, I could smell the deep fried pastry aroma, it was not oily. The Mini Peanut Puff was nicely deep fried and had a golden brown color.

I liked the taste of the Mini Peanut Puff, the crispy skin was not powdery and the skin thickness was just right. The filling  had the right amount of sugar and roasted peanuts. My palate did not feel dry or sweeten after eating several Mini Peanut Puffs.

Overall, I think this bakery has the best Mini Peanut Puff, though the prices are slightly higher, it was still worth to buy.

Spending per head: Approximately $20(Tea)

Gyoza Smile Dec 26, 2014

There was a gyoza specialty store in Westgate. Whenever I walked pass this restaurant, I always can smell the pan frying of gyoza.

It was early evening and there was no queue. I went in to order the 1 dozen gyoza. The wait for the gyoza was quite long about 15 minutes to be ready.

The suace for the gyoza was quite strange, there was no vinegar or ginger provided or available. The only available sauce was their special soya sauce. I liked their special soya sauce. It tasted mild salty and oily, with some sweetness and spiciness. Seems like all in one sauce.

The gyoza smell and tasted very good, crispy on the outside and piping hot, juicy minced meat inside. It did not have an oily mouthfeel. I liked the minced meat inside, there was some ginger mixed with the minced meat fillings and there was sweetness in the meat.

After eating the gyoza, my whole body and clothing smelt of pan fried gyoza. Hopefully, the restaurant can improved on their ventilation.

Spending per head: Approximately $7.80(Dinner)

Avocado Power Smile Dec 26, 2014
Categories : Juices

The weather was hot and humid, hence I wanted to buy a drink to cool myself. I passby this Fruiti kiosk and ordered the Avocado Power with honey drink.

I saw the staff freshly cut the Avocado into pieces and then blend the fruit with honey and ice, no water added. Hence, the wait was about 5 minutes for the drink.

The Avocado Power juice tasted very creamy with right amount of sweetness. The juice tasted somewhat like a milk shake.

Overall, I liked the Avocado Power Juice as I could taste the real Avocado in the juice, definitely worth the price. Unlike Starbucks which uses flavoured syrup for their iced blend fruit juice.

Spending per head: Approximately $5.90
