Donuts Smile Dec 26, 2013

I was craving for soft, fluffy donuts and I remember that J.Co donuts recently opened a branch nearby my house. Hence I went to buy some. I bought two blueberry donut and one mango donut. The price was $1.70 each.

The donuts were very soft and fluffy in texture, it almost melted in mouth when eating. The donuts was not as sweet as Krispy Kreme. I liked the blueberry donut, the blueberry jam in the middle was sweet and sour. I did not like the mango donut, the middle filling was not mango cream, it had an oily and buttery taste.

Overall, I still prefer J.Co donuts over Krispy Kreme donuts, it was cheaper too.

Mee Siam Smile Dec 23, 2013

Today I was at Bukit Merah and decided to go Redhill Hawker Centre for Lunch. Since today was Monday, many food stalls were not open. I remembered that a Mee Siam stall was featured in The Sunday Times, hence I went to search this stall.

I ordered a bowl of mee siam at $2.50. The friendly aunty always asking whether I wanted chilli or lime. I was very surprised when the mee siam came to my table. The serving was very big!

The mee siam had a nice sourish assam aroma. The mee siam's gravy tasted good, with dried shrimps, peanuts and assam. The chilli was also good with many dried shrimps inside.

There were many ingredients with the mee siam, whole boiled egg, fried taupok, fried tofu, fried tofu skin and fried mini shrimps. All of them absorbed into the gravy and tasted good.

Overall, this mee siam was very good with some many ingredients at affordable prices.

Curry Bun Smile Dec 22, 2013

After I bought my breads at Bakery Point, I walked towards the bus stop and saw there was a bakert stall selling all their breads at $1. I should have bought buy breads at this bakery instead.

I bought a Curry Bun at $1. The Curry Bun had a mild curry aroma, maybe it was from the curry powder sprinkle on top of the bun. The Curry Bun texture was soft and fluffy, taste slightly sweet. The curry potato fillings inside was very tasty. The curry potato was mild spicy but had rich curry flavour.

Overall, this Curry Potato Bun tasted better than Breadtalk Curry Bun. Breadtalk Curry Bun was too spicy for my liking.

Swiss Roll Smile Nov 10, 2013

Categories : Peranakan / Nonya | Bakery | Desserts and Cakes

Other than Pandan cake and Kueh Lapis, Bengawan Solo also makes good and delicious Swiss Roll.

I had bought this Swiss roll with strawberry jam.

The cake texture was soft and fluffy. There was vanila cream and strawberry jam in between the roll.

The cake tasted sweet and buttery, the vanila cream tasted slightly salty. The strawberry jam slightly sweet and sourish.

Herbal Tea Egg Smile Nov 10, 2013
Categories : Multi-Concept

Whenever I walked pass any Eu Yan Sang, I can always smell the nice herbal aroma of tea eggs. I had tried to buy the Herbal Tea egg bag powder to make tea eggs at home but I could never get the same nice aroma from Eu Yan Sang.

The Herbal Tea eggs from Eu Yan Sang were nicely and deeply braised. Even the egg white was braised to brownish colour.

The egg inside the shell had nice herbal aroma, same for the herbal taste. The egg was not hard or old to eat, just nice bouncy bite of hard boiled egg.
