K-Pop Grilled Boneless Thigh Set Smile Dec 29, 2014

It was lunch time at West Coast Plaza, I walk around and did not know what to eat. I walked pass BBQ Chicken and saw their lunch set menu looked cheap and appetising. Hence, I went in and order the K-Pop Grilled Boneless Thigh Set at $10.90. The K-Pop Grilled Boneless Thigh Set came with fried rice and a drink.

The K-Pop Grilled Boneless Thigh arrived on my table with heavy aroma of grilled meat, it smelt so good. The grilled chicken meat was juicy and tender, especially the skin was marinated with bulgogi sauce. I liked the savoury, caramel kind of sweetness in the marinate sauce.

However, the fried rice was slightly soggy and bland which I did not like. The salad was normal but I found it strange to eat salad with rice.

Overall, I liked the K-Pop Grilled Boneless Thigh, next time I will order with french fries instead of fried rice. I was still puzzled why they named it as K-Pop.

Spending per head: Approximately $10.90(Lunch)

Glutinous Rice Smile Dec 29, 2014

Before the Ghim Moh Hawker Centre scheduled for major renovation, I went to Rong Yuan Shu Shi Tan to try their Glutinous Rice. There was no queue and I thought they have soldout, luckily it was still available.

The Glutinous Rice was only warm when I received my order. The glutinous rice was not as sticky as others, they were drier version like the Niu Che Shui Famous Glutinous Rice in Chinatown which was now closed. The glutionous rice also tasted savoury, it seem to be cooked with broth. There were roasted peanuts and shallots given, it was good and fragrant when eating together with glutinous rice.

Overall, I liked this Glutinous Rice, it reminds me of the same good taste from the closed Niu Che Shui Famous Glutinous Rice. Hopefully after renovation, this stall will move back to the same hawker centre.

Spending per head: Approximately $1.50(Breakfast)

Chwee Kueh OK Dec 29, 2014

Before Ghim Moh Hawker Centre closed for renovation, I went to try the Ghim Moh Chwee Kueh. There was no queue at this stall and I thought they were closed. Luckily the aunty at the stall said that they still have left some to sell to me.

Their menu board had a price for 20 pieces at $6 but I wonder who was such big eater buying 20 in a go. I just bought 8 pieces for $2.40 for myself.

The Chwee Kueh had little "Cai Poh". The "Cai Poh" tasted more sweet than savoury. The Chwee Kueh was just right not too soft or too floury.

Overall, this Chwee Kueh was not oily but was average in taste. There was too little "Cai Poh" given.

Chocolate Log Cake Smile Dec 29, 2014

Categories : Café | Hotel

My family had redeemed a Chocolate Log Cake using credit card points at Marina Mandarin Hotel. Since Christmas Day was already over for a few days, the Christmas decoration on the log cake was not given. Nevertheless we accepted the cake since it still looked presentable.

The Chocolate Log Cake had a soft and fluffy cake texture that blended with the chocolate cream. Both bended so well that I could not differentiate between which was the cake layer or the cream layer. It was not a swiss roll as other bakery's log cake. The cake was rich in dark milk chocolate taste which was slightly bitter sweet.

Overall, I liked the rich chocolate taste and texture of the Chocolate Log Cake, if only they could add some fruits or nuts to the chocolate cake would be better than a single flavour one.

Cooling & Refreshing Smile Dec 29, 2014
Categories : Chinese

The weather was hot and humid today. I was thirsty and looking for a cold drink. Just in chance, at the entrance of Jurong Point, there was a herbal tea kiosk. I just pickup a chilled Chrysantenmum Tea at $1.50 thinking it was just like Yeo's Chrysantenmum Tea. I was so wrong after drinking the tea.

This Chrysantenmum Tea had a light aroma and flavour of chrysantenmum, I can related to chrysantenmum flower petals. I guessed this Chrysantenmum Tea had used dried chrysantenmum to boil the drink. The sweetness was mild and the sweetness will not linger to the tongue after drinking.

Overall, I liked this drink as it tasted natural and would like to try their other flavour drinks the next time.
